Nice to see a non dismissive media article taking this seriously! Gutted for the people stuck on these lists ๐ฑ ADHD can have a massive impact on people's lives (it also commonly links with mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, and more!) and a diagnosis can be absolutely life-changing in helping individuals understand their brain, and open up a tonne of help.
Just want to make it clear I help people whether you have a diagnosis or not!
I hugely recommend resources such as the ADHD Foundation and the ADHD adults UK podcast on Spotify (all science backed)and I will share more soon on useful resources.

Lately I've been trying to do just 10-20 minutes of yoga most mornings. In my PJ's, with a cuppa ๐ซ outside if it's dry! โ๏ธ
I set my timer and just do what I can/feel up to. Even 10 mins helps calm my busy mind and it makes a massive difference to my day. I've dabbled with yoga for over a decade but I'm sure like many of you do too, really struggle keeping up routine despite knowing how much it helps!
It's all about starting small with new habits.
For some, maybe just starting with 5 minutes of something each day, or every few days, or maybe one weekly class.. (Of course it doesn't have to be yoga, we all like different things!)
Maybe it's just stepping outside in the morning without your phone to get some daylight on your face before a day at the office, or doing an extra 5 mins on your dog walks, or adding 1 extra type of veg to your dinners ๐ฅ
My point is, whatever it is, It's just so much more effective to start small with realistic steps, rather than totally changing up a load of stuff really quickly. It really does take time to form new habits. Then gradually, these habits will stick and you will be able to slowly add more.
So how do we initially keep it up then?! ๐

For me, lately, its post-it notes..everywhere ๐ saying 'YOGA 10 MINS' and I leave the mat out somewhere I will see it. Otherwise I can confidently say I'd forget about it and move onto something else in a few days ๐คญ
Out of sight, out of mind!
Find ways to remind yourself! Notes, lists, alarms, chalkboard, whiteboard...
..A coach maybe ๐คช

My name is Polly and I'm a CNM accredited health coach and member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP).
My mission is to help people with their health using the naturopathic approach. This involves looking at lots of aspects of your life such as your goals, obstacles, diet, lifestyle habits, sleep, stress, movement (and more!) to determine your overall health and what may work for you. There's a big focus on trying to identify and treat the root causes of any issues as well as just looking at your symptoms. Everyone is different so what works for one person may not work for the next, so I work in a person centered way and can help find the best solutions to suit you as a unique individual.
Using my background health knowledge and through working together, we can come up with realistic and achievable (and enjoyable!) steps for you to work on, to get you feeling better and improve any symptoms, and work towards your goals.
The areas I specialise in (but are not restricted to) are neurodiversity - specifically ADHD and ASD, mental health, hormonal health, and general health and wellbeing.

I'm aware that this programme first aired a while ago (15th may 2023) so I'm a little late to post about it (i've literally only just watched it.. wowzers) but I just want to share these responses as I feel that the points covered are really important.

This brekky had been a fave of mine recently
I cook my porridge with half water half milk
I know we get overwhelmed with milk choices these days.. I've just started varying what I buy each week whether it's milk alternatives or organic dairy milk.

This porridge is easy peasy. Just cook the porridge with frozen blueberries mixed in, and add whatever you want on top. I went for banana, seeds, a dollop of yog and a bit more milk. Easy bowl of comfort ๐๐

I've finally got round to writing an explanation of what a health coach is (pics below) This is something that a lot of people ask as it's still fairly new, and something that I (until now) get jumbled up trying to explain ๐
I just need to add that health coaching is not a substitute for medical health care, and we cannot prescribe or diagnose anything. Please always talk to your doctor first.
A health coach can be a great additional bit of help for your overall health if you're interested in the natural route ๐ฑ
For those interested, here's a bit of background information about ADHD.. mainly the textbook sort of stuff. I Look forward to delving in more to explain the other sides of it in more detail, there's sooooo much to it that I could go on and on (and on and onnn), but hopefully this gets some of the main points in, and I'll eventually be sharing more.. slowly but surely! ๐ค And more importantly, I'll also be explaining where I come in and how I can help as a health coach!!
I also just want to say how most people with ADHD think it is a really silly name (and it will probably be changed in the future) as firstly it is not an 'attention deficit' it is actually often lOOOoads of attention and focus but often on many things at once, or on the things they find fun and interesting (perhaps avoiding the task they are meant to be working on!). Secondly the word 'disorder' is a pretty negative one. My view of Neurodiversity is not a negative one, just a different brain wiring. So one of my many missions is to keep talking about it, educating, and reducing the stigma.

Does anyone ever feel like they're not good enough or not doing the right thing when they scroll social media??
This is why I want to try my hardest to portray that I am a real human who likes normal things just like everyone else and be as honest as I can. No one is perfect. Just because I'm a health coach doesn't mean I don't enjoy less healthy things sometimes! And that's ok ๐
I really struggle with anxiety and low self esteem, amongst other things, and have learnt soooo many things which help me. This is what I'm most passionate about and want to help others with.
So shout out to all the humans out there who are just trying their best.
