🔵A day jam-packed with insights in to the world of Trauma and Orthopaedics - lectures by pioneering surgeons and interactive hands-on workshops, networking and CV-building opportunities. Perfect for medical students and foundation doctors to broaden knowledge and show your commitment to the specialty.

📝Abstracts now open!
🔴We will be accepting abstracts on any project, SSU, case report, elective or audit related to orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine or musculoskeletal disease. To be considered, please send a 250-word abstract to [email protected] by *MIDNIGHT 20th JANUARY*.

🔵This year we will be supporting Bone Cancer Research Trust and all profits from the conference will go to charity.

🔴The top 4 abstracts will be selected to give an Oral Presentation on the day, other accepted abstracts will be given a chance for Poster Presentation.

It is with great excitement, we would like to announce the selection of our new committee for this coming year.

SWOC 2024 Co-chairs.

After the huge success of SWOC 2023, we are looking to put together a committee to help organise SWOC ‘24! This is a great opportunity to join a group of enthusiastic medical students in putting together one of the South West’s largest student led conferences, not to mention a good addition to your CVs.

The roles we are looking to fill for this coming year are:

Workshop coordinators x3
Work as a team to devise and organise fun and interactive workshops. We would like students in this role to show initiative and bring new ideas to the table in terms of new workshops SWOC could provide, as well as opinions on what has worked well in the past. You will be required to maintain professional relationships with workshop providers, as well as be present to help run your workshop on the day.

Lecture coordinator x1
Work as a team to organise interesting and informative lectures. We would like students in this role to show initiative and bring new ideas to the table in terms of new lecturers SWOC could showcase, as well as opinions on what has worked well in the past. You will be required to maintain professional relationships with invited clinicians and patrons, as well as be present to help ensure smooth running of lectures on the day.

Publicity coordinators x2
Work together to publicise all things SWOC! Run the conference’s instagram, twitter and pages to keep students and delegates updated, create posters and leaflets and take photos and video content on the day.

Treasurer x1
Keep tabs on conference spending, lease with companies and sponsors in order to help make the conference run smoothly financially.
