Mental Health First Aid Training in Tavistock

VOYC Devon is a well-respected specialist infrastructure network for voluntary and community sector groups that work with and for children and young people.

This November, they’re hosting a two day Mental Health First Aid course in Tavistock, to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and how to provide help.

Places cost £100 for VOYC members and £325 to non-members.

A little snapshot of a brilliant day at the 100 club in Exeter, networking with our member organisations, sharing knowledge and ideas, looking at challenges facing the youth sector and how best to overcome them and of course, having a good natter with a cuppa!

It’s such a powerful event to have so many wonderful organisations come together from all across Devon, all with a similar mission - to support children and young people to reach their full potential.

Tom has been travelling all over Devon recently to deliver invaluable training to our member organisations.

Last week Tom visited Westbank centre to provide group 2 Safeguarding training to Devon Carers.

Tom visited Cloakham Lawns Sports Centre to deliver Community Safeguarding training.

The session was kindly hosted by Axminster skatepark and attended by The Den Honiton C.I.C .

Another great training session under our belts for the brilliant organisations within our membership! ☺️

Our CEO, Tom made another visit to the The Bungalow Youth Project to chat with their youth work team. We looked at practical tools for safeguarding that can easily be followed and understood by staff and young people.

We also did a safeguarding scenario to look at how this knowledge might work in practice.

It was great to share your knowledge and enthusiasm for youth work and hopefully make it easy for everyone to understand safeguarding practice.

Tom visited Plymouth Institute of Education within the School of Society and Culture at Plymouth University last week.

He delivered group 2 safeguarding with their early years students in the Rolle Building, which has great facilities and screens for training.

Thanks to all the students who joined us, who shared their knowledge and enthusiasm throughout the course. We hope they all have long and fulfilled careers in the sector.
