When will we take mental health as seriously as physical health? Well, many of us already do and we need to keep the conversation going 💛
People pleasing. It's a thing. We probably all do it from time to time and sometimes we do it all the time. Putting others' needs before our own in attempts to feel needed and wanted, to feel loved or to keep the peace, ultimately destroys our own inner peace. It shatters our sense of self and leaves us with very difficult feelings that we feel it's too late to resolve or change. It's not. Setting boundaries is so important and we can start anytime. Love yourself, respect yourself and be you. You are the most important person in your life 💛 pleasing health
Self care has probably never been so important in these uncertain times. We need to look out for one another, but before we can do that, we need to look after ourselves 💛
Simple things often get missed. I glanced out of the window not expecting such a beautiful scene. Take time for the simple things. Make time to pause every now and then 💛
An oldie but a goody. It's always, always OK to ask for help. You are not alone and you matter 💛
This unique moment, right now... the next one... next one and all the ones that follow, are truly owned by us in our individual experience. We can't change what has passed and we can't predict the future, yet we spend so, so much time either side of Now. Enjoy your Now, embrace it, learn from it, allow yourself to be present and awake right in this moment 💛

How wonderful that so many people got the opportunity to connect in this way, no matter where we all are, across the world and even in our home towns. That this app, this medium/platform, has invited people in the counselling field to connect, link in and learn so much from; but also to all those who aren't in the Therapy 'biz', who have found something helpful in any way at all, which I know I certainly have, then that is bleddy brilliant 😊 so here's to that thing that is Therapy, our skills, our experiences, our compassion, our uniqueness. Self care has never felt so important. We are wading outr way through the most abnormal of circumstances right now. We need to take the time to check in with ourselves. Really ask yourself 'how am I?' Attend to and nurture thy self, because you matter a great deal

Setting boundaries can feel confrontational sometimes, when in fact, they're simply valid and polite requests for your needs to be recognised and respected 💛

It's mental health awareness week. There's never a bad time to take stock, do a bit of an audit and dedicate some time to you and your wellbeing. Check in with yourself whether you need a bit of an emotional clear out. You're allowed to set new boundaries and you're allowed to put your needs first 💛

Hi there and a very warm welcome to Lucy Perkins Counselling.
So what is counselling and what does it entail?
Counselling is a process between two people where you may explore anything that is causing you distress, discomfort or confusion. We can work together on many different challenging areas including depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, anger, phobias, loneliness and self-esteem, to name but a few. I offer a supportive, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk through any concerns or issues you may be experiencing either in the present, or from the past. I work with the Person-Centred model, which means that my approach is non-directive, and we go at your pace. I won’t tell you what to do or offer advice, but I will endeavour to empower you to discover the solutions to the difficulties you’re experiencing, by getting alongside you on your journey and helping you explore your world to find solutions and clarity.
I have a extensive experience working with eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa) and self-harm behaviours and can offer Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT) alongside Humanistic counselling. RO-DBT is similar to standard DBT and focuses on working with emotions and behaviours associated with eating disorders.
I also have training and experience working with Gender Dysphoria and am able to offer support to those experiencing gender in-congruence/questioning, or their loved ones (individually).
