"Today is the for those who have lost their lives to Honour Based Abuse. It is a form of that can include child marriage, virginity testing, enforced abortion, forced marriage, and female ge***al mutilation, as well as physical, sexual and economic abuse and coercive control.
For some communities, the concept of 'honour' is more important than the safety and well-being of a family member. To compromise a family’s perceived ‘honour’ is to bring dishonour and shame. This can lead to abuse and in some instances, murder.
