Initially, I wasn’t going to do a 2023 round-up post as I hadn’t thought I had achieved much having been pregnant for the first half of the year and not working for the majority of the second half, but when I looked back I realised actually achieved A WHOLE DAMN LOT! I mean, I carried and gave birth to a baby for heaven’s sake, I think that counts as an achievement yes? 🥳

But as well as that, I hosted a social media workshop with the content queen , travelled with my family, introduced new services, took on new clients, grew my email list, mastered the art of remote working and successfully balanced mum life with work life (well, most of the time…🥴). Oh and I turned 40 too - not too shabby a year really 🥰

📲 Are you prepared for your social feeds to be jam packed with Met Gala memes this week? Who remembers the viral Barbie posts that took over our feeds a couple of weeks ago? Trends can come around quickly (and become dated just as fast!) and jumping on them can be a great way to stay culturally relevant and boost views/engagement. So when a meme, audio or idea is trending, should you drop everything and jump on it? 🤔⁠

Here are some things to consider first:

❓ Does the trending meme, reel audio or concept fit your brand voice, image and industry? ⁠
❓ Will it resonate with your target market (i.e. will they understand it & relate to it)?
❓ Can you come up with an original spin rather than copying what everyone else is doing?⁠
❓ Do you have the time to plan extra content around the trend?⁠
⁠

My advice is you don't have to jump on every trend going, make sure it REALLY fits with your business and social strategy first and foremost 💁🏼‍♀️

This has been a much requested update and many will be delighted (me included!). On the flip side, some users do think that more options for people results in a lower click through rate so might just stick with one link. What do you think?
