It’s not as easy as you think…

Look around you; how many people do you see in shape?

My guess is not many... currently, 40% of the world’s population is officially obese, with that number only looking to rise.

Then why is it made out to be so easy?

“Just eat less and move more…” I hate this!

It takes a tonne of work, consistency, and the right approach.

And dedication for a lot of our clients was one thing they were lacking. 

Not because they’re not dedicated people...
.. they didn’t get to where they are now without that.

But because they focused on building their careers, caring for their families, and building the future they wanted.

Which I get. 

But for these reasons, their health and physique took a back seat.

When you focus all your time on your career, social life, and home life, getting in shape will feel impossible. 

We aim to show our clients that you can have all of the above and still care for yourself.

We live in a world of ‘look-at-me-and-my-shiny-new-idea’ nonsense.

What wild and wonderful diet program will pop up on Instagram next?

The more outrageous the claim, the more people it seems to attract.

And this is one of the reasons why the vast majority of people who really want to change their health…

End up jumping from programme to programme, only to move farther away from their goals. 

It’s no wonder so many people are confused about what it takes to lose fat and get in great shape.

But I’m here to tell you, you don’t need any named diet. 

Nothing complicated or some over-the-top training plan. 

You need to stick to the basics…
.. and do it consistently.

I’d love to tell you to “just do this one thing and watch the fat melt off.”

But that one thing doesn’t exist.

It’s about following a couple of basic principles very well.

And doing it consistently over time.

Is it sexy? No.

I tried Boogie Boarding for the first time ever…

It was also my first time ever in a wet-suit.

I wasn’t great at it, in fact I was downright rubbish…

… I couldn’t seem to sync up any attempt with the wave.

And, more often than not I was belly flopping on to the board and just getting thrown about in the ocean.

After 20 minutes of trying and failing, I was absolutely wiped out.

But I loved every single second of it.

Taking that first step, getting started, reaching out for help is often the most difficult part of any process.

The result you’re looking for is on the other side of the fear that’s holding you back.

I speak to so many people who want to make their health & fitness a priority but are too nervous, anxious or intimidated by gyms to do anything about it.

My three-step confidence-building story...⁣

1️⃣Before I started my PT course, I was so nervous.

I kept telling myself that I was going to be behind, that everyone would be way fitter, stronger, and more knowledgeable about fitness.⁣

So much so that I actually delayed starting this course for months.

I would go on the website, hover over the sign-up button, and then close the tab.⁣

It turned out to be the opposite, and I found the course very straightforward.

2️⃣After finishing the course on Friday, I started my first Coaching Job at Pure Gym a few days later.

My first shift was on a busy Monday night in March... kicking off my Coaching career with four fully booked classes back-to-back, it was safe to say I was bricking it 💩

Anyone who attended those classes almost a decade ago now will remember my voice going up and down in pitch like I was going through puberty again...⁣

3️⃣Finally, after six successful years at Pure Gym, I opened Club 300 Glasgow.

Again, I felt way out of my depth. The first 6 months were just panic stations; I constantly felt like I was chasing my tail & fire-fighting.

Fast-forward a few years, and the gym has gone from strength to strength.⁣

We have hundreds of members who now love the gym & wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have that if I’d let my fear get in the way.

I still get some nerves, but I now see them as a sign that I’m pushing myself and doing something I really care about... I use these nerves as excitement & energy to get things done!

You see, the stories we create in our heads are always worse than reality.

Don’t let your fear & the narratives you create hold you back from achieving what you really want in life.

Everyone has these fears; the difference is that the ones who thrive ignore them & take action anyway.

Another Superteams, another smashing day!!

Our mission is and always has been to make fitness inclusive…

To make it enjoyable…

And, I these events bring all of those elements together.

A few hours of lifting throughout the day…

Followed by a few hours of well earned socialising in the evening.

We are more than a gym, we are a community and it’s a community that I’m so incredibly proud to be a part of.

A massive well done to everyone who participated in the day, it was so inspiring to have so many of you down pushing each other & lifting one-another up to do more than you believed you could.

I know they’re were a few sore heads & sore bodies afterwards (including my own) but it was all worth it.

3 years ago we ran our first Club 300 Community event…

… nothing fancy just a wee day out to bag a Munro!

On the day, the turnout wasn’t great… just myself, Coach Lucy and 3 of our clients.

Not exactly awe inspiring, in fact I was a wee bit down-trodden with all the last minute drop outs…

… but it was start something new and more importantly it was actually a brilliant day out.

In a couple of weeks we will be running our annual Superteams Charity event where we’ll expecting between 30-50 people down to the gym to raise money for a good cause & enjoy the company of our thriving community.

This is only one of 8 events we will run this year… none of which would have happened if I’d given up after the first.

Our community is what makes Club 300 so special, and myself & the team are so lucky to be able to call this our place of work.

It would’ve been all too easy to just give up when I was feeling a bit down after that first meet-up but I’m so glad I didn’t.

I’m really proud of what the community has become & I’m sharing this story because its all too easy to just focus on the highlights, especially with social media making everyones lives look perfect.

When you see these pictures of our packed events, you don’t see all the struggles, self-doubts and hard work that went into getting them to the position they are now in.

So, if you’re struggling at the moment & you feel like everyone else is racing ahead then hopefully this can be a little bit of inspiration to know that you’re not alone…

… and that your persistence will get you to where you want to be if you just keep working.
