A little final farewell from the first day to the last and all the good bits in between. From coffee, sweet snacks, pizza treats, doggies (and ferrets!) and of course our trusty mascot Harold to hold the fort 🐒

‼️ ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️

We have very unfortunate news with the immediate closure of Rebel Street Coffee. As you will have seen in previous posts with the closing of Rebel Barbers our time left at this location was uncertain. With the new owners taking over the shop we had made an agreement that would allow us to stay for a little longer until they were up and running then the situation would be reassessed. However, as of yesterday afternoon we have been given two days notice to leave the premises. We have our thoughts on the matter but our loyalty lies with our customers and we have not been given sufficient time to end our time here in a way that we would have wished. Peter and I have built a really lovely community at the Corunna Corner. We’ve had our regulars for the three years we’ve been there, we’ve had our doggy regulars, passers by, travellers from all over the world, celebrities and our favourite characters in the neighbourhood. With them we’ve shared laughter, tears, celebrations and losses. We’ve been a part of people’s daily routine and they’ve been a part of ours and we’ve given and received a shoulder or listening ear when really needed. This little corner has been more than just coffee for us. That has been shattered in a matter of days and we can’t apologise enough and know that this would absolutely not be how we left here. It has been an amazing few years and we thank everyone who supported us throughout.

We hope that it isn’t the end for Rebel and will continue to search for a new location to start our next chapter and to welcome a new community but until then we will say our goodbyes.

We are absolutely gutted, I received the news yesterday after what was my last shift now but it was a lovely last day to have and thank you all again for your support and kindness. Peter will be on today and tomorrow for anybody that wants to stop by. We are doing 2 for 1 cakes until close tomorrow and our last doughnut day will be tomorrow too so let’s go out with a sugar induced bang!

🎨 One of our regulars and neighbour gifted us this today. He sat with his morning coffee and painted the view from our little box and framed it for us. It now has it’s place to brighten up our wee van 🤗

Time for a little makeover after the winter months. We’ve given the box a fresh lick of paint inside and out, Bruce (the big boss!) has done all of our repairs in and around the seating area and built a cool little espresso bar at the other side of the van for an extra hang out spot 🤗

We also have a little surprise with the *other* electrical box (we eventually lost the battle with Scottish Power on the other one) so keep your eyes peeled for that 👀

We’ve had a couple of trials over the last few weeks and they are going down a storm so far. Saturdays only at the moment until we get the momentum going so pop down today before they disappear 😍

☕️ A No Nonsense Coffee Guide for anybody not familiar with speciality coffee i.e the treat of a fancy coffee not made from the hoose ☕️

Speciality coffee has very specific ratios so when it comes to cup sizes, for anyone that doesn’t know this they can seem very small if you are used to any big chains/franchises. The smaller ratios allow you to taste the coffee rather than being diluted with a lot of milk or water. So if you want a stronger coffee getting a large just means more diluted not necessarily stronger, in order to balance out your ratios you should ask for extra shots in there 👌🏻😵‍💫

Our rebels have all started their coffee journey at different times so we’ve all been there! Please don’t hesitate to ask for any questions or advice about ordering if you’re new to coffee we are more than happy to answer and will do so to the best of our knowledge 🤗

🐾 Todays little Rebel mascot Little Macy (our smiliest little gal) came for a wee cuddle today 🐾

🍑 M E E T P E A C H ! 🍑 Also known as Peach Pie! 😭😍 She is one of our regulars but this is the first time she straight up strolled into the van for a cuddle … which last 40minutes, she turned into a a little floopy potato in my arms and now i must have her 😌

If you could sum up the delightful smell of fresh coffee in a nutshell it’s this face.

🐶🐾 Baby Toby hung out with us this afternoon and pooped himself out with all the socialising and took a little power nap for his next adventure 😴🥰

We are looking for two rebels to join our small but mighty little team. There are two positions available, one permanent and one temporary.

Permanent position
(approx 19 - 25hrs)
Mid June start

Temporary position
(approx 25 - 30hrs)
2/3 months from July/Aug
Can be kept on for the occasional holiday/emergency cover there after

Hours between positions are variable/negotiable.

We are looking for personality and a good work ethic, a degree means jack s**t to us if you’re lazy. As long as you have the willingness to learn, work hard, reliable, trustworthy, have great customer service and the cleaning skills of a Monica we want to hear from you.

A good initiative is important as you will be working on your own so the ability to think on your feet and problem solve should any issues arise is beneficial.

Coffee/barista experience is desired but not essential as full training will be given but a keen and genuine interest into the coffee industry is essential.

Interviews will be taking place over the next few weeks as training will commence prior to start date for selected candidates.

Just realised I hadn’t posted the up to date price list since the world went to s**t. We did not enjoy making this decision along with many other businesses trying to keep afloat but to keep up with the costs of our products and packaging unfortunately we had to. We have kept it as low as we can and we appreciate all of our regulars that stuck by us and new customers that continue to find us. We are small but quietly mighty and slowly making our mark on this little street corner (but not as creepy as i just made that sound)
