The charity is hosting a fun challenge this year, the 'Get Mucky for Malawi' 2k obstacle course in Cumbernauld on the 7th of May. just finished my last edit, of my last speech, of this wedding season as this song came on the Radio.
its been another great year and I've once again been enormously humbled to have met so many wonderful people and play a part in their 'big day'. It often amazes me that people are unaware of how beautiful and unique, funny and moving they're life stories are, its always a great pleasure to see them grow in confidence till the day comes and the speech they feared is delivered with such confidence... everybody has an entertaing story to tell and its my job to find it for you.
My diary finally has some blank spaces in it now that the September weekend is here, so take your chance to book up an appointment with me and we can start to create that speech that you'll be proud of for the rest of your life.

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to perform the Master of Ceremony duties at the wedding of Alison Crawford and Donogh Maguire. The whole day was beautiful, relaxed and entertaining.... I loved every moment of it, so thank you both for allowing me to be part of your beautiful day!

I have just been sent a video of a speech I wrote for a wedding on New Years day. It is such a privelege to be able to help those terrified by the prospect of speaking in public, then see them standing in front of the guests and actually enjoying the experience. I feel truly blessed to have been given this wee bit talent to be able to turn the thoughts and emotions into a loving speech....
Having seen the video clip I'm feeling pretty good about myself... it is indeed a happy new year.

Just spent the early evening driving through the autumnal colours of Lanarkshire, to visit a father of the bride and put the final touches to his speech. A man that was terrified of speaking in public so got in touch to ask for my assistance with content and delivery.
His speech is now so beautiful and well delivered that he brought tears to my eyes tonight.

It's just gone 03.30 hours on this autumnal night. The dark chills the air with the promise of another winter to come. For the past three hours I have put pen to paper to submit the thoughts and emotions of a bride to be, to paper, it's the eleventh version of the first draft of her speech and as I laid my pen down and stretched back from my desk and looked out the window, across the garden at the fog and frost. I allowed myself to smile at the memories of the summer gone.
It's been a good summer, the second half of the summer has been beyond my wildest dreams and I write this to thank you, each and everyone of you for your support. I have written speeches for friends and friends of friends for two decades or more now. Blarney Patter Speeches evolved out of those of you who asked for my assistance over those past 20 years and has grown past all my expectations because of your support, encouragement and promotion. I will be forever humbled by the warmth bestowed upon me by such support. I genuinely would be lost without you all.
When I wake, I shall meet with this bride and then, at that moment, I will for the first time since April, have no 'current' speeches to write a first draft for. The order book for next year is already looking busy but before I fall asleep in my soft, warm bed I thought I'd let you all know that my gratitude to you all will always shine as bright as the summer sun.

A review of the weddings I have written a speech for this summer reveals that there was a woman giving a formal speech at 41% of the weddings.
The times they are a changing indeed.

This is why I love, love, love my job.
I have just received this text from a father of the bride who gave his speech yesterday.

Hi Charlie. Just home from portavadie. Signal up there very poor. Everything went like clockwork from start to finish. My speech had the whole company in tears. The photographer came and shook hands with me and told me my speech was the best father of the bride speech he'd heard in all the years if his photography at weddings. Everyone but everyone said they've never heard anything like it. So thankyou Charlie.

Last visit over to Dunoon, speech and speaker fully prepared and I now have a new favourite aspect of my job... the scenery in this special country of ours is only matched by the smiles on the client when they realise that they will not only deliver a good speech but will probably even like it....

There are few thing in my life that are as enjoyable as seeing the smile on a clients face, when they hear my first draft of their speech!

Robin Williams, eh!!! Looks like he has hung himself...He has died of asphyxiation...
He brought an incredible amount of joy to my teenage and early adult life...
I still stop my seemingly endless search of a myriad of modern channels, should I happen upon his films or stand up routines...
Put simply, I could fill up your entire stream with warm memories of the man and his life affirming talent!!!.
But he is gone...
He was never a personal friend of mine but his early death has me thinking of friends of mine and their struggles with the weight of life,
So...This is a public yet annonmous plea to you, I don't need you to come to me when your low and feeling vulnerable, but I do need and want you to know that you are loved... I and others care about you, I care about how you feel and yes, you are worth your friends and families love... so worth it! Even if, at times, we are consumed with our own insular lives... Please keep talking, let me know it's hard for you and I will make the time... not because you need the help but because I/we need you. In our life! xxXX

I wanted to take a few moments to thank you all for your support since I turned a pastime of 20 years, into a business. The wedding season is drawing to a close, on this, my first year as a professional speech writer. If I had known how successful I would have become I would have launched the business years ago. In the spring and early summer I was very busy and have a lot of you to thank for that, with the recommendations you gave to your friends and families. I have had job offers and have written speeches for weddings, funerals, parties and even wrote a wedding proposal. It's been very flattering to be called 'an author' 'an artist' !
However, the greatest part of this job, is the cards, letters and emails I have had, thanking me for the speeches and the coaching on delivery, the gratitude, pride, relief and emotion that has poured out of these messages has often drawn a tear from my eye.
So, thank you for your belief, support and business, I think iv found my talent!
