Wow - this year marks my tenth year of coaching 😲🥹🙏🏼😊
I honestly can’t believe it has been ten years
It doesn’t seem that long ago I was lost and very unhappy - if you told me I’d be running a fu***ng gym I would have laughed pretty hard
Coaching people has gave me a happy life, daily fulfilment and pride
Training gave me purpose to my life when I just lost my dad and was trying to stay sober - so to be able to change other people’s life through training and a healthier lifestyle means everything , I will never take it for granted and always try my absolute best
From being a newly qualified pt pretty much winging it to be doing what I do now shows that if you truly love something, work hard & never give up that you can do amazing things in life
When I worked in a bank, my dad knew I didn’t like it and continually told me to do what makes me happy instead of being miserable - so thank you for that advise Dad because it is always in my head when things have got tough
To every single person I’ve ever coached - thank you , thank you so much

Gym DC is going into month 15 and what an incredible ride it’s been so far
Dedicating your life to something like this is far from easy and not without challenges , but it’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever felt
Whether it’s someone linking their first reps of gymnastics or a new pt client doing their first squat and deadlift or people training hard for competitions - it still gives me the best feeling in the world and I don’t think that will ever stop
Thank you to everyone who supports me and my gym and picks me up when I’m down - I could not do it without ya’all ❤️

As a coach, listening to someone talk about how training as impacted their life outside the gym is so amazing
Recently I’ve heard how it has helped with playing with and looking after their 2 year old daughter, feeling strong outwith the gym, helped with back pain, it’s the best money they have ever spent, mental health and sleep
We have to see training as more than punishment for a bad diet or losing weight - if you find a way of training you can enjoy it literally will change your life 🥰

From taking him around Tesco to show him how to eat better back in the day to an Ironman 70.3 race to building crazy strength and numerous competitions & ups and downs
When he asked me to pair up with him for proving grounds cause he had nae pals I couldn’t say no, and we got in! 😁💪🏼

2 weeks since our 1st birthday celebrations and what a day it was! Here’s to the next year of training @ Gym DC 🥰💪🏼
Training has been good recently ! Back to some intense fitness with competition qualifiers and hit some strength PB’s too including this hang sn**ch at the end of a spicy amrap!
The never ending goal of trying to get a bit fitter and a bit stronger 💪🏼
1 year since I opened the gym
11 years ago today my life changed when I suddenly lost my Dad - Thankfully I chose at two months sober to not drink but to dedicate the rest of my life to make him proud of me and to make something of myself
So when I opened my own gym I wanted to keep that and the Gym was called GYM DC
People always ask why DC - and this is why 😊
If only you could see me as I am today and not the wreck I was before I stopped drinking but this is what has always drove me on to stay sober and always try and be a better person
There are defining moments in our lives and I promise you that making the hard choice is worth it - the easy way out never works long term
Me choosing not to drink on this day 11 years ago is the reason I am healthy today
4 years ago today I swam 2.4 miles Biked 112miles + Ran 26.2 miles to accomplish my goal of completing an Ironman triathlon 🏊🏻♂️ 🚴🏼 🏃🏻♂️ 🏅
I wanted to do it for my own personal reasons relating to my past and my Dad but also to show anyone who needed to realise we can come back from dark places where we think there’s no point to life
Working toward this for literally years changed my life and made me someone who believed in myself and knew I could do anything I put my mind to
When I was on the run and knew I was going to finish I cried so much it was the best feeling I had ever had - I went from someone who thought I was worthless and nothing but a let down to a coach and doing an Ironman - it’s just amazing what exercise can do for you and I will always be grateful I decided to push myself more than I ever thought possible
Anything is possible 🙂🙏🏼❤️
It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others or getting frustrated at a failed lift or a workout time - but don’t forget that most of us train to feel better! Mentally and physically and to have fun 😁
I take my training seriously but it makes me feel amazing which is why I do it on the days I don’t even feel like it 💪🏼
New Podcast 🎤 finally after 2 years of saying I’d get back on it !
Signing up for and doing my first triathlon changed my life and led me to doing Ironman which I’m so so grateful for - I wasn’t rly interested until I saw it was on the first anniversary of losing my Dad , so had do to do it 🙏🏼
It was a bit of a disaster in some aspects but a year after quitting booze and losing my dad it was the first time I felt really proud of myself and made me realise I could do more than I thought
The swim almost killed me and my bike had no gears , but I learned from it 😂

This exact date last year we done a group session in the park as I was unable to coach classes and months into looking for a unit to call home - I honestly did not know what the future held for the team
So to be here with a full house and the guys thriving with their training and new members fitting in so well I couldn’t be more grateful for what we have and for the continued support and commitment everyone gives to the gym, not just the guys in the picture but everyone - group - PT - Overs 🙏🏼💪🏼

The daily training is where the magic happens, the easier % work, the basic machine intervals, the boring technique work
The PB’s and progress doesn’t happen without that constant hard work
The fun and experience’s you have whilst training hard with your pals whilst becoming a fitter, healthier person is what matters most !
We always wanna better ourselves and make progress but don’t forget to have fun 😁
Almost 4 years to the day I done my first Ironman Triathlon in Zurich ❤️
Ive been thinking about this a lot recently. Even just thinking about the 5 days In Zurich gives me goosebumps and the most incredible feeling
Training for and doing this changed my life, it made me a stronger and more resilient person and for once I was actually really proud of myself
There was a lot of mistakes and things I could of done differently but I finished and got my medal and proved to everyone what you can achieve if you really want something
Anyways - I’ve decided I’m going to do a podcast series - starting from way back when I done my first ever triathlon and what lead me to Ironman - the race and everything in between since I’ve not done a podcast in like 2 year and I pay for the fu***ng thing 😂
Training can take you to places you never imagined yourself being in - it can be life changing and that is an amazing feeling 🙏🏼💪🏼

Sober Festival 💪🏼😁
I hadn’t been to a weekender festival in over 10 years - I used to go every year when I drank and to be honest it was a waste of money with how many bands I actually saw / remember with how stupidly drunk I always was !
Being sober was amazing - although hard at times in the sun at a festival watching everyone drink cold beers
I saw every band I wanted to see, I had the best time, I remember everything, no hangover / fear + less money spent !
Don’t fear by giving up / cutting down on booze you’re ‘ missing out ‘ it’s actually
more fun I promise !
Going for Slipknot - BMTH + Metallica alone was worth it but so many other amazing bands and amazing people there !
