Before joining Explore, Victoria felt isolated and lonely. As a single parent new to the area, navigating life's challenges felt overwhelming, especially amidst the isolation enforced by the pandemic. One of her greatest challenges was returning to work.
Victoria signed up to Explore to meet new people, develop new skills and rebuild her confidence. With the support of Explore and the Reed in Partnership Work Routes programme, Victoria is taking steps towards re-entering the workplace.
For Victoria, Explore has shown her she is not alone on her journey - it has given her the courage to believe in herself again, the strength and determination to pursue her dreams and the support and encouragement to take the next step.
If, like Victoria, you are facing barriers and unsure of how to re-engage with community, or how to take the next step forward, Explore can help ✨

Our Dads Who Care group had another fantastic night out last week, giving them a vital break from their caring roles.
This community respite project meets monthly and provides a relaxed and friendly space where dads, who care for their children with complex care needs, can take a break, build new friendships with like-minded men and enjoy activities.
Operations Manager Nicola Wilson, who leads the group, said: ‘Male carers can often feel isolated and alone. Our Dads Who Care understand each other’s lives and are able to suggest things to support one another. Going out — this time to a restaurant in Surbiton — also offers them the chance to blow the cobwebs away and have some fun.
'This group is having such a positive impact on the lives of these hard-working dads, and we are so grateful to our funders for their continuing support.’
Christian, who has been attending the group since it started more than four years ago, said: ‘The Crossroads Dads Who Care group is so warm and welcoming. We started off as strangers, but are now friends and our families get together too.’
With thanks to our funders: The Barnes Fund, Hampton Fund and Richmond Parish Lands Charity.

Our Story
History of the Charity
Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity was established by an Act of Parliament in 1811, when land owned by King George III in the ancient town of Hampton was donated to the parish of St Mary’s Church. The land was rented out, and the money used to buy fuel for the poor of the parish. By the mid-1980s income had significantly reduced. However, the Trustees made the decision to sell land owned by our Charity. In 1989 St Clare’s Nursery was sold to Sainsbury’s for £21.6M. The sale significantly revived the fortunes of the Charity. The money was invested with the income providing support to those in need. The charity has since been able to extend the area of benefit beyond Hampton residents to Twickenham, Teddington and Whitton.
In 2019 to avoid confusion around the words ‘fuel’ and ‘allotment’, we have changed our name to Hampton Fund.
