A quiet weekend for us with just #42 Adam Carson riding this weekend. We headed off to Croft circuit Friday morning. Croft must be the longest journey for us all year and the 6-hour drive didn’t disappoint. However, we left Essex in rain and arrived at Croft at 6pm in sunny weather. Something which for a change carried on all weekend.
Croft is normally the last meeting of the year, as due to restrictions on noise they can not run races till the afternoon on Sunday. So only one race per class and this is ideal for the CRMC race of the year. However, for 2024 Sunday’s races count for the championships and are double points. So important for a good result.
Saturday and Adam were out on the ZXR400 first, so chance to learn the track and get a good grid position. He qualified first in the Superstock class, and eighth overall (which includes the Supersport 400 and Supersport 600 classes). Just two sessions later he was back out on the YZF750 in the Superbike class. Although he has a bigger engine and more power on the 750, Adam was 1 second a lap slower (1min 42 second) and qualified 14th overall. Normally the way as the 400 is a lot easier to ride, even more so on a track he has only ridden once before.
Onto the races and in the first 400 race he got a cracking start as usual. And had a good race long battle with a couple of the 600cc class riders. Finishing 8th overall and another class win under his belt. The afternoon race saw Adam start from 9th position on the grid and he managed to race with some of the tuned 400’s for most of the race. Eventually finishing in 9th and taking the class win again. More importantly his lap times were coming down race by race.
In the first 750 race Adam was down in 14th on the grid for the start. He is having trouble getting the YZF750 away from the line, the clutch just doesn’t feel nice to us. Its something we will have to look at upgrading in the future. The race went well, and his lap time was down more again, managing to make up a couple of places and get into 12th place overall.
The last race of the day for Adam was on the 750 again. He had a good start and was managing to get up into the top ten, picking off riders one by one. Then he didn’t come back round. From the pit lane we could not see what had happened to Adam. Race over and he came limping back round the track into the pits. The gear change lever had worked its way over the footrest. He was stuck in 2nd gear. A quick fix by putting a washer in place to stop it happening again and the bikes was ready for Super Sunday’s double point races.
Sunday was a relaxing morning in the pits waiting for the midday start time. Great chance to catch up with other riders and look at the classic race bikes in the GP parade. We had bought up our Ex BSB YZF750 to display. Unfortunately, was not able to ride it in the parade as it has a 16.5” rear wheel still and no tyres available for it. Something we need to fix in the future and get it back on track.
Midday and Adam was out in the ACU 750cc race. First time Adam has entered this extra race at CRMC. He entered it on the ZXR400 and his grid position of 12th was a surprise to us. This was set by his best lap time in the races on Saturday. Good for Adam as he can get the ZXR400 off the line well and soon as the lights were out, he was away. He was up into fifth by the third corner and maintained this position for most of the race. He finished in 8th place after being taken by some of the 750cc bikes. However, was the first 400cc to finish and his lap time was down to a 1min 36sec now.
Next race was the 400cc one and he lined up fresh from the great ride in the ACU race. Adam finish first in his class again and an important 50 points.
Last race of the weekend for Adam was on the YZF750. Adam lined up 11th on the grid, this time getting a great start and was up into 5th straight away. He kept his head down and pushed hard all race to keep the two bikes behind him he was battling with. The flag dropped and Adam finished 5th overall and 3rd in the Superbike class. A great ride and he really looked at home on the YZF. His lap time down to a 1min 34second. That’s 8 seconds off what he started the weekend doing.
As we packed up for the weekend in the hot sunny weather all we could do is smile. It was a great weekend weather wise and on track as well. The bikes performed great, ok the gear lever fell off the YZF. These things can happen. We head home with things we want to improve on both bikes before the next meeting in 3 weeks’ time.
Where was #82 Mark Taylor you may ask? Well Mark was riding the Oakdene Manx Norton in the Lansdowne championship at Donnington Park. A shame the two-meetings clashed, but this happens sometimes. Mark had an amazing weekend with two wins and a third. Also taking the Norton rider of the meeting trophy home with him. Well done, Mark, we wished we was there to see you take those wins.
Whilst we are taking of missing team members, several people have asked what has happened to Scott Carson. The BMW F900 Cup is not back out till the BSB meeting at Snetterton in July. So, Scott has a few weeks off, he was at the last BSB meeting at Oulton Park. However, due to a start line accident the F900 Cup race was postponed till another weekend in the year. Meaning Scott has had no results since the first meeting in Spain.
We will all be at the Snetterton round and from then onwards it all gets a bit hectic for a few weeks. Plenty of updates then 😊
Darley Moor CRMC
Second round of the CRMC championships held at the very old-fashioned Darley Moor track in Derbyshire. No practice day for this one, as they have noise issues with the locals. A drive-up Friday afternoon to the track in very wet and cold conditions. No fun at all setting up the awning in the pouring rain and a paddock that resembled something you would find at a banger racing event. By Saturday morning the bikes looked like they had done several laps around a motocross track with all the mud on them.
Thankfully the rain disappeared Saturday and only the practice sessions were held in wet conditions. Adam #42 was out on the Allspeed ZXR400 and we also bought the Allspeed YZF750 along as a last-minute entry. We had said we would not run it at Darley as the tracks not the safest you will find. However, we had made some adjustments to the bike since Pembrey and Adam wanted to ride it.
He was first out on the YZF and the bike felt a lot better, he was a very happy rider and qualified 6th on the grid. A good result. First race of the day for Adam and as he left the starting grid for the warmup lap. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear and bang he was down on the ground! Someone in front of him braked hard and Adam had nowhere to go but the very wet grass at the side of the track. Soon as he did, he went down. Thankfully his new airbag suit did its job, and he was up in now time. Only issue was somehow the right-hand handlebar maned to not get bent, instead it broke the clamp that held it in place. We had spare bars, but no clamp. We tried everyone on the paddock for a replacement, but everyone was the same as us. Never expected a clamp would break. So that was game over for the YZF.
Next out was Mark Taylor #82 on the Allspeed TZR250. He qualified on pole and by nearly 2 seconds. However, in the races Saturday he was not able to complete with the speed of his two rivals on track. Both big four strokes (Ducati and Moto Guzzi). His lap times were quicker most of the time but didn’t matter how many times he overtook on the bends; Darley has 3 long straights and the bigger cc bikes just powered past him. Mark had to settle for 2 3rd places.
Last races of the day were Adam in the Superstock 400 championship. With a few delays on Saturday the second race of the day was held over to Sunday. We had sorted out the running issues we had at the last round and the bike ran perfect all weekend. Adam was able to get all 4 class wins and best many of the bigger 600cc machines that share the grid with him. Great riding all weekend and this has given him a very healthy lead in the 400 championship.
Sunday and the sun were out. A rare sight this year so far, however it was welcomed. Not as welcome as a newly modified ZXR400 handlebar that our good friend Andy Farrell took home Saturday and made good for us to use on the YZF750.
We fitted it and Adam was back up and running on the 750. He went onto a great 3rd place in the first race of the day and back this up with a 4th in the second race. He is really getting to grips with the big 750 and can’t wait to ride it at some of the bigger and better tracks later in the season.
Sunday’s races for Mark on the TZR were the same race long battle with the two big Italian four strokes. Mark managed to get the better of the Guzzi in the first race finishing 2nd and securing pole again for the last race of the weekend. However, he couldn’t get past it again and finished with another 3rd. Darley is the worse track for the little 250 against the bigger bikes. The rest of the season he should not have the same issue.
Overall, a good weekend despite the wet start and dismal facilities at Darley Moor. With the worse track of the season done we can only look forward to the rest of the CRMC meetings.
Few weeks off for us. As no meeting till 1st/2nd June. We have plenty to do, will take us a good long day just to wash the mud off the bikes 😊 We have a few more updates for the YZF750 to do as well. So busy time in the workshop.
Race Day :)
After 4 days at the circuit of Navarra it is finally race day.
A relaxing start as not out till 1.45pm. The weather was hot and the crowds were bigger today. Scott was starting from 16th on the grid.
Made no changes to the bike at all, new set of tyres and away we go.
Lights out and Scott didn't get too good of a start. However a faller just in front of him held him up more and got him into a battle for 17th with Harley Pebble. As the race went on the two of them swapped places several times. Whilst the rest of the grid started throwing themselves off their bikes. By the end of the race Scott got the better of Harley Pebble and finished in 13th position.
A great start to the season. We went with the target of getting into the points and 13th gave us that result.
Might not sound alot, but this is a tough championship to be in.
So we leave Spain in good spirits. A few things we want to try on the bike, which hopefully we can look at before the next round at Oulton Park in 2 weeks time.
Big thanks to all the team who came out to Spain to help
Massive thanks to Paul @ Cryosol for making this all happen.
Next round is the first clash of the year. We will be at Darley Moor with CRMC and Oulton Park BSB.
Day 3 - Racing commences
We got to the track nice and early today. 7.30am start. Few things to check on the bike before free practice.
Shorter session today, just 20mins. However it felt like a lifetime, we still couldn't break into the 1 minute 50 second lap times.
We had tried everything we know to get the time down, Scott was riding the wheels off it. Yet we just couldn't get an improvement.
Next up qualifying and Scott headed out to the track. Still stuck in the 1.51 laps. He qualified 23rd place. This put him 12th on the grid for the heat.
An 8 lap race and Scott got a great start, he managed to pick up a few places and finished the race in 8th place. Great result, made even better by putting in not one bit three 1.50 laps! What a relief we finally made an improvement. This puts Scott straight into the main race tomorrow.
So we headed into the local town in good spirits and have just had a great team meal and drink to celebrate. Not too late tonight, as main race day tomorrow.
Day 2 - Spain
Finally the Spanish sun made an appearance. We woke up to defrosting the hire car windscreen. The weather picked up fast and by the first session it was what you would expect in Spain.
We made some changes to the bike, after thinking about it overnight. All good Scott dropped his time by another second.
Two more sessions for the day and we made several changes. However the lap times never dropped. Scott is getting more consistent, we just feel we have hit a wall.
Alot of discussions in the evening over dinner and we still are struggling to work out what we need to move up the grid. We have a couple of things to try.
Race day tomorrow and the weather is looking good.
Day one of our Spanish adventure.
Only two free practice sessions for the BMW's today. 1st session and Scott headed out on track for his first ride around the Navarra circuit. All felt good and he finished 14th fastest.
Second session of the day we thought we would make some radical changes to the gearing. Rest of the bike was working well. However it only took a lap to realise we had gone the wrong way. Still not a wasted session. It was another 40 mins to learn the track. Scott managed to go 1 second quicker on his lap time. Trouble is everyone did, so he ended up in 20th place overall.
Back at the Villa now and we have all the lap times and sector times to study all evening. Back to the track 1st thing to change the gearing and fit a new set of tyres.
Pembrey - Round 1
The long winter wait was finally over, we packed up the van and headed along the M4 to Pembrey in South Wales. Poor van was feeling the strain, 3 bikes on board and now thanks to the new Classic club rules that allow wet tyres, several spare wheels.
We had booked the Friday test day, so we could make sure the bikes were all good to go. Weather was very windy and wet at times. Something that continued pretty much all weekend. A good test day and the two riders were happy with their bikes.
Saturday and after a night of very high-speed winds, everything calmed down a bit. Even the sun made an appearance. First out was #82 Mark Taylor on our TZR250. Mark hasn’t raced a TZR since he won the BEMSEE YPM championship in 2016. Didn’t take him long to feel at home on one again. He won his first race with ease. A busy day for Mark, he was out in 6 races in total and 4 practice sessions. The 2nd race of the day for him on the TZR was wet and he took it easy to finish 4th.
Next up was #42 Adam Carson. He was out on our freshly built YZF750 for the first time. This is a new class for 2024 at CRMC and will become a great championship over the year. We wanted to put a bike out in it, as it is the era we grew up watching and wanted to support the Classic club in getting it going. Adam rode well on the bike, getting quicker every lap. A good strong result in the first race, however he didn’t risk it in the second as it rained, and we didn’t have time to put the wets into the bike.
Just two races after the 750 Adam was out on the ZXR400. One of the biggest grids in the CRMC now, Adam was only able to secure 2nd place in the Superstock class. The bike just didn’t have the speed to keep up with the winner. He came in saying it felt slow. We could hear a slight misfire, but to be honest I put it down to him just getting off a 750cc bike to the 400cc. The 2nd 400 race of the day was delayed till Sunday morning due to the bad weather and stoppages. This gave us chance to look at the bike overnight and we found a blocked jet in the carbs. Fingers crossed it would be running well again in the morning.
Sunday and another night of rough weather, we awoke to showers and strong winds. Adam was out first for the 400 race held over from Saturday. The bike was sounding very rough, and he nearly didn’t go out. We also had a wet front tyre in the bike, but with the strong wind the track was drying very fast. Adam took to the grid to see how the bike went and pull in if needed. He got a flying start and never looked back, taking the class win by a good distance. Bike running well then? Sadly not. It had no bottom end power. Something that got worse as the day went on and in the next two 400 races, he managed to hold onto 2nd place in both. So overall a good result given the poorly bike.
Mark Taylor out next and now it was wet again. Mark’s class you still can not run wet tyres, so we had some different tread road tyres to try in the wet. Mark had spent weeks looking into all the different tyre choices he could use and went for these Dunlop’s a day before we left for Pembrey. Well, his hard work paid off, he took the win by a long margin. Something none of us expected in the rain. It didn’t go un-noticed either, we soon got a visit to check the legality of the tyres. Which everyone was happy they were legal for the class. The last race of the weekend on the TZR was dry and Mark lead from start to finish, ending with a 12 second lead by the flag.
Final race of the day for us was Adam on the YZF750. He did start the first race of the day in the 750 class but had to pull in on the first lap as we put a wet front in, and it was no good on the drying track. Something we can get away with on the smaller bikes, but not the heavy 750. Thankfully for the last race it was raining, so wets was the only way to go. Adams first race in the wet on this bike and he manged to finish in a lonely 3rd place. However, he was very happy with that and felt good on the bike.
First round of the year was a good start to our season. #82 Mark Taylor came away from Pembrey leading the PC750 class on the TZR250. He also had some excellent results on the Oakdene Manx Norton he is riding all year. A very happy Mark on the way home in the van. Something we haven’t seen for a couple of years.
#42 Adam Carson also came away leading the Superstock 400 Championship. We have a bit of work to do on the ZXR400 to make sure it is good for the next round. We also came away with a long list of improvements we want to make to the YZF750. Which is what we expected from the bike this season. It’s a learning curve for Adam riding it and us running it.
We most likely won’t have the YZF at the next round, as we have a very busy couple of weeks before the next round. We are all off to Spain next week for the first round of the BMW F900 cup with Scott Carson.
No rest for us.
2024 Pre Season Testing
Having spent every weekend since October working on the team’s bikes, we felt we was in pretty good shape for 2024.
Our first test was a couple of weeks ago at Brands Hatch for the first round of the BEMSEE club championships. We went there with #42 Adam Carson and the Kawasaki ZXR400 that he will be riding all year.
Friday test day was wet pretty much all day. Gave a chance for Adam to ride on full race wets, something he has never done before. No issues, he loved them. Few teething issues with the bike, but other than that it was good.
Saturday and Sunday gave him different conditions to race it. Adam managed a 5th, two 3rd’s and a 2nd place in the sub 64 class. So overall a good weekend. Also learnt a lot about the bike and its little quirks.
We also took along our Yamaha YZF750SP that Adam will ride in the new CRMC SS750 championship. Unfortunately, we have no wets for it yet, so the rain Friday put pay to that going out on track.
Next test was a track day at Snetterton this week. We took along the ZXR again. The YZF had to stay at the workshop as it seems to have developed a problem and we need to fix that. Also the strict noise levels at Snetterton , it would never have passed anyway.
Also in the van was our trusty Yamaha TZR250, with a fresh engine built by Stan Stephens for us. This bike has not been out competitively for a few seasons. However, 2024 sees #82 Mark Taylor riding it at CRMC in the PC750 class. He will be riding this along with his Oakdene Racing Norton’s. A very busy year for Mark ahead.
The TZR250 needed running in and Mark spent the morning sessions doing this. Then after lunch he could open it up. Very impressed with the performance of the engine and with some adjustments to the suspension he was flying. We look forward to seeing Mark race this bike, its been a few years since he has been on a TZR.
Adam was using the day to set up the ZXR and get more valuable track time on it. He was riding it very well and showing up a lot of much larger cc bikes. A great day for all the team, until the last session of the day, when the ZXR ground to a halt mid-session. Not had time to look at it yet, but it certainly feels seized solid!
With just over a week to our first Classic club race meeting we will certainly be busy over the Easter weekend. We have a new engine to source and fit to the ZXR400, a random misfire to fix on the YZF750, plus fit new bodywork. The good news is the TZR250 just needs a clean and check over.
I don’t think we have ever put as much work and effort into the bikes this winter. This includes the riders. Adam has been down at the workshop nearly every Saturday since October. We have been here till Midnight several times. Yet these bikes have put up a fight all the way.
Will be a relief when we get to Pembrey and the season finally starts.
Fingers crossed all the hard work in preparation pays off.
Looking for a paddock starter, the type with an engine and go-cart wheel if anyone wants to sell one.
Already got a set of electric ones, but need a bit more power :)
We have been doing this since 2003 at a very cold Pembrey in a tent. So thought we should try and put down a list of who we have helped and what classes, etc we have run it.
So here is the run down :) There has been a few one off riders and other people we have helped along the way. But hard to remember all of what we have done.
Roll on 2024 season :)
Just thought I should post up our plans for 2024 season.
Its gonna be a busy one!
We will be running #42 Adam Carson on the "Team Allspeed Kawasaki ZXR400" in the CRMC Superstock 400 Championship. We dipped our toe into this class late last year and Adam loved it. So we are doing the whole championship this year.
We will also be supporting Scott Carson on the "Team Cryosol BMW F900" at BSB meetings in the BMW F900 Cup. The first meeting being in Spain in April. Lots going on with plans for this at the moment.
A few clash of meetings during the summer for CRMC & BSB. So just working out how we can cover both events at the moment. Sure it will work out fine.
Also a couple of other things we are working on for the year. Soon as we have confirmed these we will let you all know.
Can't even post you photo's of the bikes, as we have bodywork all over the place being painted at the moment :)
Anyone want to sponsor the team, please contact us. Any help we can get over the season is very much appreciated.
Big thanks to Essex Bikers Centre for supplying a new set of RST Leathers at short notice for this weekends BMW F900 Cup.
Our first weekend racing at a British Superbike round. We know its only a support class, but its much more than we ever imagined the team would be doing. Certainly not in 2023 as well!
We headed up Thursday morning to Donington Park to set up in the paddock. It is such a huge scale event, how they manage to get everyone in so smoothly just showed us the level this is at. Caravan dropped off and set up in the living area, then onto the race paddock to set up the van and awning.
We were joined at this point by Paul from Venture Healthcare who is sponsoring Scott to race at this level. Paul doesn’t just want to be a sponsor; he also wants to get stuck in with the team. Between us all we got set up ready for the weekend.
Friday and this our busiest day of the weekend. Scott had briefings to attend as a new rider to the series. We had the bike to check over and get to technical inspection. Then free practice was at 11.25am.
Nervous time for all of us, the first time Scott can see how competitive he will be in this class. He finished the session 19th out of 48 riders. Not bad at all. However, what we did learn was how long these practice sessions were. Scott ran out of fuel; we had filled it up. But took some out as it seemed too much fuel. Stupid mistake and lesson learnt. A few things to change and try. Scott was happy.
16.50 was the timed qualifying and another 30 min session to get to grips with the bike. Scott headed out for some laps and improved on his morning times. He came in after a few laps to check the bike. It was not as good as it had been in the morning session. Couple of tweaks to the suspension and he went back out. But his times just got worse. Scott ended the session in 21st place. Not terrible, but he was not happy.
Back in the paddock and we could see the rear tyre was gone. Two long practice sessions had killed it. Speaking to other riders Scott also realised he was riding the bike wrong. He was revving it hard like a two stroke and we had geared it to do this. But the BMW is all low-down torque, and he must ride it differently to gain the most from this power. Some more changes and we was ready for the heat race Saturday.
Saturday and race day. The BMW cup has over 40 riders, so the class has two heat races every weekend. The top 14 finishers go straight into a main race Sunday. Then if you are not one of these riders you get another chance in the last chance race. You get at least two races a weekend.
Scott was in heat one and he was starting on the grid in 11th place. All he has to do is hold this place in the race and he is straight into the main event Sunday. With minutes to go the weather turned. It was spitting with rain. Not wet, but not dry. Tyre choice was a gamble. Scott took the decision to play it safe and go out on wet tyres. Only just getting them in seconds before heading to the grid. Lights out and the race was away. Scott’s first ride in the wet on this bike, but he kept out of trouble and even though it dried up during the race he finished in 11th place and secured his place in the main race Sunday.
Sunday, main race day for all classes and the crowds are massive. You get a real feeling you are doing something special now. The paddock is very busy, and you are surrounded by race fans. The place had a real buzz.
The BMW race was early in the day, 11.45am and the 2nd race of the day. Scott had a new rear tyre and the weather was dry. As he headed out to the grid, we all joined him as he came round from the sighting lap. He was very happy. Some changes to the seating position and his new way of riding the power worked very well. Scott was ready to race and was going to give it 110%.
Lights out the race was on. We were on the pit wall ready to give him signals on the pit board. We had set up on one of the BSB teams pit wall stands. We had timing screens and the TV courage to keep an eye on Scott during the race. 6 corners into the lap and Scott had made up 6/7 places and into the top 15. Then turn 7 he was down! We couldn’t believe our eyes. Scott was up and OK, but his body language showed us he was not happy. A repeat on the TV confirmed Scott had been crashed into by another rider and caused him to crash. Nothing Scott could do.
We packed up and headed back to the paddock to make sure Scott was OK. Well physically he was, but he was angry. He was lucky, he walked away with no injuries. Just damage to the bike and his leathers. What hurt most to us all was the weekends work all gone in a second. Gutted ☹
A frustrating end to our first weekend at BSB. However not a disappointing weekend. We learnt a lot about the bike, the championship and how the BSB paddock works. We all enjoyed it even in the rain. I think we are going to enjoy 2024.
What we really looking forward to is the last round at Brands Hatch in two weeks. We have a weekend to repair the bike and get it looking good again.
Brands Hatch is like home to us all. Our favourite circuit, well some would say our favourite place on earth. The whole team can’t wait to be there. We will be down in the lower paddock if anyone is going. Please pop down and say hello.
Scott is starting 11th on the grid in Heat 1 at 2.50pm today.
Sorry its been a few weeks with no updates. But that is how our season was planning out. Thought we was done for the year.
Well you can never predict the future and this weekend is proof of that. The team should be at CRMC's last meeting at Croft. Sadly we can't make it. However our bike will be. #82 Mark Taylor is taking the trusty Yamaha TZR250 up with him and will be riding it over the weekend. Strange feeling, as it is like sending one of the kids off to boarding school lol
Good luck Mark and we will be watching the timing and calling all weekend I am sure.
Why are we not at Croft? Well we are starting a new chapter in the team. #24, sorry #48 (as his 24 is being used already) Scott Carson will be racing in the BMW F900 Cup at Donington Park BSB. New Bike, new sponsor and new championship for Scott. The team is heading up to Donington Thursday for our first meeting in a very big paddock :) All a bit nervous and excited at the same time.
Big thanks to Venture Healthcare for the sponsorship and help in making this happen. We will all be giving it 100%.
Full report next week :)
Donington Classic Festival
The big event of the year in the Classic Racing Club Calendar. We always take along some extra bikes for the GP Parades, so it’s a full garage for the weekend.
With only #42 Adam Carson racing this weekend. We were able to bring a couple of extra parade bikes along and let #24 Scott Carson and their father Roland out of some of them.
Rounding off the family weekend, Adam and Scotts brother in law #114 Ryan Green took our Yamaha TZR250 out in the parades over the weekend for only his 2nd time on a race track.
Most important this weekend was for Adam to have some good safe rides in the 125cc Championship, so he could secure the 2023 Championship. He started off well qualifying on the front row and beating his lap time from last year straight away. First 125cc race and Adam had a lonely race to get his class win and 3rd overall in the race. Second race of the day and he managed to have a race long battle with Arnie Shelton on a more modern RS125. Only getting beaten at the finish by less than half a second! Excellent riding and this secured the championship for Adam.
Adam was also out in the Superstock 400 class on our Honda CBR400. A couple of great races in the class and Adam finishing 7th and 6th in what is becoming a very competitive class.
Sunday and the weather were a little worse with rain forecast for the afternoon. Thankfully this held off till the very end of the day. Adam was back out in the 125cc Class and had a cracking race with Arnie Shelton and Dan Sayle. Both on newer RS125’s with more power than Adam’s. He managed to stick with them all race was crossed the line less than a second of the win. Great race to watch, proper 125cc action. Last race of the weekend and Adam made his first mistake of the season. Slipping off in the damp conditions on the warm up lap.
In the 400’s Adam was able to drop his lap times again, even on a damp track. He is certainly getting the hang of the 400. He finished with two 7th place’s.
In the GP Parade Scott was able to take out pretty much every bike we bought in the end. Mainly down to some running issues that cut his time on track short with a couple of them. Most of his time was spent on the Ex TT 2000 Yamaha R1 Superbike. Scott certainly took to that with ease and was lapping very quickly. I can see I will have to lock this bike up well from now 😊 He also rode the Yamaha OW01 and in the last session took out the Teams TZR250 for a ride along side his father Roland. Roland was out on the Honda CBR400 after the Yamaha SR500 Supermono just wouldn’t play ball with us over the weekend.
Special mention must go to #114 Ryan Green who was building up his speed all weekend in the parades. When he took to a soaking wet track for the last session of the day on Bridgestone R11 race tyres, we all expected him to come straight in but he rode the bike safely and with confidence. Looks like we have another Carson family wet weather specialist on our hands!
So overall the weekend was good to us weather wise and keep everyone busy on track. Fantastic result for Adam to win the CRMC 125cc Championship in his second year of racing.
What Next? Well, that is our season nearly over with. Unfortunately, a ride for Scott at the GP Originals this weekend fell though at the last minute. We hope to be at the CRMC Anglesey meeting in September and if we can put something together for Scott to race. The team is busy planning for next season and we have a few ideas in the pipeline, but as usual it all comes down to money.
Soon as we have some plans we will let you all know.
