Junior Holiday Camps
With the long summer holidays ahead of us why not get your children active. We can help! At Harrogate Racquets Club we are inviting all juniors to come and play Badminton and Table Tennis.

Our holiday sessions are fun, energetic and a great way to make new friends. Existing junior members (and future ones!) at Harrogate Racquets are now All Sport members from this year, so this summer is a great opportunity to try our table tennis and badminton camps. Key skills are highly transferable across all racquet sports.

You can join us for just a day, or you can come for all the sessions. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Leeds tennis courts to get £650k upgrade Courts in eight Leeds parks will be resurfaced and online booking introduced, the council says.

On April 18th Harrogate Racquets Club formally thanked George Chan for his 14 years of coaching table tennis to adults and juniors at the Club. Former and past juniors gathered to celebrate the amazing coach and role model that George has been. He has nurtured and inspired youngsters and adults to learn new skills and enjoy table tennis at all levels including County and National.

Sarah Jackson, Chair of Table Tennis said “It has been wonderful to have so many youngsters given opportunities to develop skills that will be with them for life. No matter where they end up in the world, there will always be a table tennis table and a way to make new friends, thanks to George and Harrogate Racquets”.

The evening culminated with a ‘Round the World’ table tennis game – what a laugh! “Again” was the refrain from the former juniors!

Racquets table tennis coaching programmes continue with the introduction of two experienced coaches, Mark and Bob.

HRC/Yorkshire juniors did well at the weekend - U19 bronze in Newcastle

The annual Table Tennis Harrogate League tournament on 14th April had a great turn out from Harrogate Racquets Club.
Many members got through to the later stages and were finalists. Youngsters David Sherwood and Anisha Kant (both age 14) stood out as rising stars!
The Ladies singles final was an all Racquets match with Linda Simpson winning an extremely close match against Anisha Kant 19-17 in the final game! Anisha (age 14) played a brilliant game but Linda’s experience just clinched it.

Joe Wright was runner up in the mens singles in another excellent final that went to all 5 games. Other Racquets winners and finalists: Joe Wright and Dale Ward beat Anisha Kant and David Sherwood (Mixed Doubles); David Sherwood beat Anisha (Under 18’s); Nick Davies/Alan Whittaker and Ian Wright /Dale Ward (Over 60’s doubles); Ian Wright winner over 70’s singles and the handicapped singles beating Anisha.

Congratulations to Jenny Adrian and Tracy Parker winning silver at the Yonex All England!

We still have space for our beginners badminton class from 9-10am this Thursday! 4-14 year olds welcome.

What a super weekend at Harrogate Racquets Club. The American tournament bought over 80 players into the club across all 3 sports - .
Well played everyone and thank you for your support! There just wouldn't be an event without you all!

Following the tournaments Cecelia White and her team of ladies Heather Cassels Smith, Barbara Hinks and Pam Nicklin made us a super afternoon tea of delicious sandwiches and homemade cakes and scones. Thank you so much ladies.

Leeds ‘Open’ 0 - 9 Harrogate Racquets Club ‘C’

A tough Sunday morning for the team after making the journey up to Harrogate! 😖 The opposition had some real fire power in their ranks which proved to be just that bit too much for the squad to handle.
Nevertheless they gave it their all and came close in a couple particularly against Harrogates 2nd pairing. 👍

The team have a got a few weeks off now to gather themselves and try to come back stronger! 💪🏸

Saturday 16th March from 1pm - American Style Tournament followed by a relaxed Afternoon Tea. £3 per entry.

An American tournament is a seeded round robin mixed doubles competition in which players are paired to create a competitive event. Timed rounds are played on a rotational basis, swapping partners between rounds, and there are small prizes for the players who win the most games overall. Anyone of any ability, any membership can enter. Please only enter one sport.

Badminton Success for Harrogate Racquets Club at the Masters County Challenge weekend in Milton Keynes last Weekend!

Our oldies :)), some of who played in the Rio tournament 30 plus years ago, were at MK and the O45s won their event, 6 of the 8 members of the team play for Racquets. The O60s came second, almost half their team are also racquets members. Well done to all players.

Good outings for our juniors and older county players this past weekend. It was the u18 Rio tournament and Yorkshire fielded two teams, winning the event overall and with real strength coming through in the second team. Well done to Jess, Jemima, Lucy, Saharsh, Chris and Anthony.
