📚 Trip to the Library 📚

At Ashbourne Hertford preschool children started the week with a trip the library. The children took a walk down to our local Library to find some books to bring back to nursery. Each child picked a book , scanned them and brought them back to nursery.
While at the nursery the children sat down and looked at range of books to see which was their favourite with Daisie and Shannon.

✨ Park Trip ✨

Today our babies took a trip to the local park to explore the huge sand pit and swings . The babies loved the sand and feeling the textures with their hands and feet . On our way to the park we stopped at the local pond to feed the ducks . Our children love going on little outings and exploring our local community 🌟🤍

💧🌧️ Rain drop 🌧️💧

This week in preschool the children have been using pipettes and syringes to get creative and make their own rain drop art work. The children have been taking an interest in to the weather and love watching the rain from the window. We have been looking outside each day and discussing what the weather is today. The children used the pipettes and watch the paint drip down onto the paper like raindrops.

💫 ZOO 💫

This week in toddler room we have been taking a interest into our zoo animals , and looking at animals from around the world. The toddlers explored our zoo tuff tray looking at the textures, animals and colours. During this activity the children was learning a range of new words such as animals names , noises and Country’s there from. Our Toddlers have enjoyed this topic and exploring our new small world area within the room.

This week we are celebrating Daisie and Lauren 🩷

Daisie has been at Ashbourne Hertford for 3 years and has grown so much as a practitioner. Daisie started with us as an apprentice , She is now fully qualified and Our preschool room leader 🩷

Lauren has been at Ashbourne Hertford for 1 year. Lauren has gained lots of her confidence and it’s continuing to blossom everyday 🌸

🌟 Outing to our local park 🌟
This week our preschool went on a walk to our local park to practice their physical skills. They enjoyed using a range of different equipment and working together to climb , swing and play. The children also did a range of different exercises before walking back to nursery and looking at familiar locations in Hertford.

⭐️ Staff update ⭐️

This week we have welcomed Katie back from maternity leave . Who has stepped back into the role of Deputy manager and now working in our Toddler room. She can’t wait to meet all the new faces aswell as seeing all the children.

While Katie has been on maternity leave Becky stepped up into Katie’s position. We would like to give Becky a massive thank you for all your hard work over the last 9 months 🤍

At the weekend Ashbourne at Hertford celebrated all of the children that have graduated from Nursery and that are moving into their next adventure at big school. All of the children here at Hertford have changed so much since they started, they have become confident, intelligent and amazing little humans that will go into smash big school. The children, parents and families all came together on Saturday to celebrate, enjoy face paints and some picky bits. I am so proud of every single Preschool child that are going to smash it in the big wide world and become the next generation.

Congratulations to all who graduated Ashbourne at Hertford and look forward to hearing how you have settled into big school.

This week the children in the toddler room and preschool have loved talking about the olympics. They have enjoyed watching all of the sports at home with there families. So we decided to go on a little trip and create our own olympics at our local park. The children all took it in turns to each have their own turn in running some races. All of the children took part in:
🥚 The egg and spoon race
🏃🏻‍♀️Running races
👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻The three legged race
🏁Sack races
And to top it all off, chasing Belinda around the field!
(I think this was their favourite part!!)
All of the children enjoyed cheering all of their friends on and encouraging them to try their best. The children absolutely loved racing their friends and having our own Olympics!!!

🏃🏻‍♀️🚣🏻🚴🏻🥇🥈🥉How many post boxes did you find? 🥉🥈🥇🚴🏻🚣🏻🏃🏻‍♀️

Today the toddler and preschool children loved going for a walk about Hertford to try and find the post boxes with the displays of the olympics from the Yarn Bombers! Unfortunately today we could only find 3 Yarnlympic postboxes but this has spurred up on to find as many as possible over the next few weeks. The children loved talking about all the different sports that they found. The children then loved going to Hertford Castle park to burn off some energy ready for our lunch. 🧶

In preschool the children have loved exploring the playdough and the pasta machine. The children have loved using their imagination by playing with the playdough and pretending to play restaurants and creating lots of different meals. The children practiced using the pasta machine for a little bit before taking some orders and preparing the foods. They loved making lots of different pasta dishes before placing them into the oven to cook and then serving them to the correct tables. The preschool children have enjoyed talking about their favourite meals they like to eat as well as understanding how a restaurant works.

Today we celebrated Claire our nursery managers 2 yr anniversary at Ashbourne Hertford. Claire would like to say massive thank you to all of the amazing staff and caring parents as she would not be able to do her job without the support and help from them all.
Congratulations Claire and thank you for being such a supportive and caring Manager that we can all go to.

🦍🦧🦒🐘🐅 Jungle playdough 🐅🐘🦒🦧🦍

This week the toddler room have loved playing with some jungle playdough. They have enjoyed moulding the playdough into their own jungle by adding some broccoli for trees and some flowers. The toddlers have loved learning about all the different animals that live in the jungle as well as what different types of food they eat too. The children have learnt loves of new words that they have enjoyed using when telling the other children and staff what they have been making and learning.

🦋🐛 CATERPILLAR UPDATE 🐛🦋

Over the past few weeks we have been watching the caterpillars grow and get bigger and bigger. The time has come where they have started to wrap themselves up into a little cocoon ready for their next adventure. The children have loved watching them grow and get bigger whilst learning some new words.

🦋🐛 WELCOME TO THE FAMILY 🐛🦋

Here at Ashbourne in Hertford we would like to welcome our little family of caterpillars. We have 5 little ones that are growing very well and quite rapidly. The children love to watch the caterpillars move around and grow bigger and bigger each day. All
Of the children within the nursery are very interested in learning how the caterpillars grow and how they turn into butterflies. During this process the children will be learning lots of different words and begin to understand the life cycle of the caterpillars and butterflies.

🥦‘Hulk pasta’🥦

Pesto (or hulk) pasta is one of the children’s favourite meals, so we like to sneak some extra veggies in there. The best thing about this meal (aside from nutrition) is that it’s so easy to make!
Read on if you’d like to give it a try. 👩🏽‍🍳

Equipment needed:
Blender/stick blender
Saucepan
Wooden spoon
Knife
Chopping board

Ingredients:
80g bunch of Basil
250 ml Olive oil
2 x Garlic cloves
2 x Juice from two lemon wedges

Method:
-Boil Broccoli whole (florets down) for 3-4 minutes.
-Meanwhile add Basil, garlic and lemon juice to the blender and boil pasta according to packet instructions.
-Cut Florets off and add to blender and blend until smooth.
-Mix Pesto into cooked pasta.
-Enjoy!

Notes:
-Add Parmesan if you like! (50g)
-Pine nuts are also a delicious addition
-Save the broccoli water to cook the pasta in for extra nutrients!
-Save the Broccoli stalk-this can be grated onto pizzas or snuck into other meals.
-You can substitute pasta for Gluten Free pasta
