It’s the M&M quiz night tonight - the 17th of May, starting at 7:30pm.

Rotary Quiz on Thursday this week, 28th March, such an opportunity to support a good cause, remember we play as ONE TEAM each and everyone can shout out an answer - our spokesperson will pick the most likely and answer to our Rotary person (designated to us) to call back to base - it’s fun and noisy but we mustn’t waste time, remember, we’re playing against other pubs in the area, it’s a pride thing 🙃🙃

Hello lovely people, yes, it’s that time again - we’re taking part in St Ives Rotary Quiz Night on Thursday 28th March, it’s good fun, the entire pub plays as one team against other pubs in the area, it’s a £3.00 entry charge per person which goes towards Rotary’s charitable work. Peter Lane & Partners are the sponsors this time, if we come within the top three we receive a cash donation to a charity of our choice.
Altogether a fun evening that helps others, starts at 7.45pm looking forward to seeing you all.

Sunday Roast 12.00pm - 2.30pm tomorrow, seems as if we’re in for another cold spell, a hearty meal is really needed with perhaps a glass of something? 🍻🍷

Just a thought, what is the difference between card pay for your purchase or cash - cash is inconvenient, too much change and faffying about counting, card is great - just use phone, watch, card, what could be easier?
We, general public people love the ease it affords us, do we ever think beyond?
Small businesses (and of course I am one) question why we pay commission on every transaction + insurance every year for data protection + rent for machine to enable payment, it seems to me that for every card payment we lose a percentage because we pay to accept- proper cash money is in itself worth what it says.
Feel free to give me your take on this situation small business has to deal with?

Hello lovely people - very short notice, the twice yearly Rotary Pub Quiz is happening next Thursday 28th September here at the Green Man, as many people as possible have to be here because we play as a team. One team makes a lot of info🤓🥸. It’s a charity event for a really good cause, entry is £4.00 per person, Rotary send their MC and he collects- do join us because it is so much fun with everyone shouting the answers and which one will MC give us?

This is very interesting because it’s something that perhaps is not pertinent to all that ‘no longer carry cash’ banks have provided the means to charge retailers to accept card payments on the condition that every transaction is worth less, also, the machine has to be rented monthly and a yearly fee is paid to ensure ‘secure confidentiality’
No wonder small businesses are giving up, your butcher, baker, greengrocer etc. Just a ‘stop and think’ moment for all to consider if card payments for minor purchases are viable to all?
Who wins in a ‘cashless society’ Just a thought 🤔

A BIT OF A LONG POST BUT PLEASE READ
OUR BANK CHARGES
After talking to some customers today we realised that unless your a Small business owner the customer doesn’t realise what charges we incur for taking card payments.
So this month we have paid just over £300 to the bank for selling our produce, as a small independent Butchers that’s a huge amount to a high street shop. We also incur charges to pay cash in, now only via the post office as our local branch has shut down. So our message please if you can pay by cash this then means our hard work and money goes straight back to us and to our 10 employees not the banks for doing nothing! Then of course - Open again on Thursday, Friday, 5.30pm and Saturday New Years Eve 12.00 - 3.30 7.00 - 12.30 or there abouts!!
