I love this.
There is so much we still donât know about milk production/supply. We might suspect things but we canât say for certain always.
So many people tell me anecdotally that some foods boost their milk supply.
You only have to look at the dairy industry which has a lot of funding, to see evidence that diet helps cows. The question has always been, does it help humans?
Wonderful people persist with looking for the answersâŚ..

Birth can affect your baby's oral developmentđ¤Ż
Here are several ways this happens. Many of them can be avoided, but unfortunately some of them can not. ("Asynclitic" usually means baby's neck is tilted, making the head lean to one side or the other.)
đLuckily, a chiropractor who is trained specifically in pediatrics can be a great help! Sometimes, lactation counselors, physical therapists, & other professionals can help your baby, too!
If your birth had any of these factors and/or you are struggling with breastfeeding, one of the professionals listed above will likely be helpful!

But arenât I meant to love my baby immediately?
Nope. Not necessarily. You may fall instantly in love with your baby and feel like theyâve always been here. But itâs also entirely normal to look at them and think âArgh, what have I done?â
Bonding can take time, and if it doesnât happen in the early days & weeks, that doesnât mean it never will. Iâve always thought that just after birth is a pretty odd time to bond with anyone. Youâve just created a human and everything that entails, are sleep deprived and
keep having to care for someoneâs demanding needs. And youâre meant to fall instantly in love with them?!
Bonding â or more a lack of it â is one of the first big emotional elephants in the room when it comes to âfeelings about parenting we donât talk aboutâ. I bet if you asked around, lots of people would tell you that they took a while to bond with their baby. In case you donât feel comfortable doing that, I did it for you, and not only did many of my friends say âOh yes, actually now you mention it, I did feel that wayâ, but many also said âI thought it was just me and was too embarrassed to sayâ.
Perhaps instead of instantaneous love you feel that you are on auto-pilot or going through the motions, knowing what you have to do to care for your baby and maybe even acting like you think you should â smiling and telling everyone how lucky you are.
The type of birth you had can have an effect. If it was long, painful or complicated then of course it is normal not to feel love and devotion immediately. Imagine coming round from any other procedure and being handed a baby you hadnât met before to take care of! You might find that this is exacerbated if you have experienced a previous loss or you had complications that made you worried about your baby. It is likely that this is protective â your bodyâs way of protecting you in case something terrible happened.
Remember, as with anything to do with having a baby, things change. How you feel today is unlikely to be how you feel forever. It might take days, weeks, months or longer, but as you spend more time with your baby that bond and connection will grow. Give it time.

Something I talk about in classes đ
Reposted from Head moulding ⢠Incredible!
Some babyâs are born with a cone shaped head âđź A babyâs skull is made up of a plates that can flex and move. As the baby decends down the birth canal the plates can shift to fit through the narrow space. The amount of time a baby spends sitting low in the pelvis can also impact of the shape of their head when they are born. Although it looks a little strange, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the baby and the odd shape will settle in a few hours/days.
Thank you to everyone for the amazing engagement on tonight's breastfeeding class.
