⚾️ Locos edge Bucks in thrilling National Playoff Quarter-Final! ⚾️
The Locos made the long journey south to Grovehill Ballpark, north of London, on Sunday to compete against . The Bucks had only lost one game all season prior to yesterday, so the Locos knew this would be a big ask, but boy did every player step up to the plate!
Leeds started strong, driving in three runs to take an early lead against by far the fastest pitcher the Locos had faced all season. After two innings the Bucks had taken a 4-3 lead, but it was the third inning where the game was won and lost. The Locos used the Bucks pitcher’s speed against him, scoring five runs in one inning, then a strong defence behind Alastair Hutton pitching saw the Bucks score nothing, leaving Leeds 8-4 ahead.
Milton Keynes then slowly crept back into the game and the Locos’ bats seemed to falter until the game was tied 8-8. In the seventh and final inning, the Locos brought in Miles Tidman as a pinch hitter who was walked to first and then stole second base. Kamal Abbas slammed a hit to deep outfield, allowing Tidman to score from second and give the Locos a crucial 9-8 lead with half an inning to play.
The Locos defence really stepped up a gear in the final inning. Anthony Munoz made a quick-reaction catch from a hit drilled back to him on the mound, Conrado Ferreira caught a runner stealing second base with a little two step throw from behind the plate, and Spencer Dohajn-Wood, AGAIN, with golden glove worthy content in right field made the game winning catch.
The Locos will now travel to the home of UK Baseball, Farnham Park in Slough, in two weeks to compete for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Every single player has contributed to this team’s success so MVP is every Locos player that has stepped onto the field this year. We wouldn’t be here without any of you.
A huge thanks to the Bucks for a great game, and to for prepping the field in difficult conditions.
⚾️ Locos face Kent Bucks in quarter-final showdown! ⚾️
Following last week’s fantastic 14-4 Wildcard win against the Kent Bucs, the Locos have assembled this morning at Grovehill Ballpark in Milton Keynes to take on the in the BBF AA National Post-Season Playoffs!
It’s all to play for today, as a victory for the Locos would see us advance to the playoffs semi-final round. The whole team have put their all into every training session and game this season, and today will be no different. We’re hungry for the win and know we’re capable of achieving it today. All that remains to be said is… LET’S GO LOCOS!
⚾️ Locos headed for quarterfinals after wild card win against Kent Bucs ⚾️
The Locos beat Kent Buccaneers 14-4 at home yesterday in game one of their playoff charge for the AA National Championship!
After a slow to start, Leeds went 2-0 down, but a solo home run from Andy Dean rallied the team to tie the game after 3 innings. Spurred on, the Locos went on to score 5 in the next inning and never looked back.
MVP went to Spencer Dojahn-Wood for catching 6 of the 21 outs made in the game, and hitting a single to right field, enabling Kyle Wilson to reach home and end the game on a mercy rule after 7 innings; 14-4.
Thank you to Kent for making the long journey up and to all the spectators who turned up to cheer on both sides - including the Leeds Locos’ brilliant sponsor The Traditional Sweet Shop Otley!

⚾️ THAT’S A WRAP! ⚾️
…and just like that, we’ve come to the end of the regular season! On Sunday we battled it out against the and finished the day with a win each.
Game #1 was a hard fought affair, starting off even until the Locos took a lead and never looked back. Solid fielding and pitching throughout helped us along, and Anthony Munoz came on as a closer to pitch the last out of the innings.
Game #2 saw some early errors by the Locos leading to Wragby amassing an unassailable score with some very strong pitching by Wragby. Alistair Hutton battled hard delivering 70 pitches in 2 innings and was relieved by Abdal Abbas. Despite a small rally at the end at least denying the shut out, Wragby took the game 20-3 in 5 innings.
We had a great day playing away against Wragby, a tough team but the atmosphere was great and we came away chuffed knowing that we’d done enough to make it through to the playoffs.
MVP for Game #1 went to Kyle Wilson for his pitching, game #2 to Tom Barker for a fantastic performance in the LF!
⚾️ IT’S SHOWTIME ⚾️
After a great result away at Sheffield last weekend, the Locos have assembled in Wragby this morning to take on in what is our final game of the regular season. Time flies when you’re having fun playing baseball!
If you’re in the area, head on down to cheer the Locos on in what is set to be an epic battle. First pitch @ 12pm.
LET’S GO LOCOS!!! 💪🏼
⚾️ Last Sunday was a successful (& stifling hot day) for the Locos… ⚾️
On Sunday we travelled down to Sheffield to take on the Sheffield Bladerunners 1 team and were chuffed to head home having bagged both games!
The Locos put in a great shift in Game #1 with particularly strong base running which led us to an incredible 22-4 win. MVP went to Abdal Abbas.
Game #2 was a much closer battle in blisteringly hot conditions which took its toll on both sides. Nevertheless, Sheffield saved a least two doubles keeping the final score to 10-5 after four innings. MVP went to Anthony Munoz.
A huge thanks to Sheffield for putting together the team and hosting us on such a hot day.
Stay tuned, as tomorrow sees the Locos face the Wragby Warhammers in our final fixtures of the 2024 season!
⚾️ It’s Sunday and that can only mean one thing… IT’S GAME DAY!! ⚾️

⚾️ Results from Sunday’s fixture against Hull ⚾️
Game #1 against the Scorpions was a close battle throughout with two runs each after seven innings. The Locos scored four more runs in the eighth inning, only to see Hull match us 6-6 at the end of the eight. We failed to add any runs in the ninth which saw Hull clinch the game on a walk-off error with an overthrow to 3rd base. Special mention must go to Adam and Ryan from the Locos and Scorpions respectively for excellent pitching throughout!
Alastair Hutton stepped up to the mound to pitch in Game #2 and put in another great shift. After starting on the back foot and finding ourselves two down in the fifth, Miles Tidman led an epic 10-run rally with two outs and truly set the tone for the rest of the game. Despite a similar rally from Hull in response, the Locos took the win with an athletic catch on a pop-up for the final out.
All round the Locos put in a great performance down in Hull on Sunday. Special shoutouts go to Spencer and Tom for playing incredibly well on their Locos debuts!
A reminder that we’ll be back training at the usual time of 6pm-8pm this Thursday, as we hurtle towards our last two game days of the season. How times flies when you’re having fun playing baseball. 📆🙌⚾️
We’re on our way down to Hull this morning to play our second fixture of the season against the - originally scheduled for 1st September. 🗓️🚗
We recently played our last home game of the season against the Scorpions where top hitting and pitching won us both games… let’s see if we can replicate that incredible performance on the Scorpions’ home turf! LET’S GO LOCOS!!!
We didn’t quite get the two wins we were looking for on Sunday, nevertheless the Locos put in a fantastic effort against Bootle to split the wins in some stifling heat! ☀️
Game 1 saw the Trojans clinch the win by a single run and MVP went to Gary Cooper for playing a solid 3B and getting on base a lot to help us score runs and put us in the best position to try and win!
The tables turned in Game 2 with a great 7-1 result. MVP for game 2 went unequivocally to Andy Dean for hitting the ball hard and for his efforts catching the whole game in the scorching heat! 🥵⚾️
We’re back training tomorrow evening and always welcome new players with open arms. So If you’re curious and want to see what all the fuss is about, get in touch via social media and join us at our weekly training sessions down at Wharfemeadows Park, Otley, LS21 2BD from 6pm - all kit provided and no experience necessary.

LET’S GO LOCOS!!!
⚾️ We marked our last home game of the season in style on Sunday… ⚾️
Great pitching all around, plus some cracking hits delivered by Markell and Alastair in particular helped lead us to victory in both games against Hull. Good base running also solidified the score on the offensive end. A huge effort and well earned result from the whole team! 👏
We may have played our last home game of the season, but we’re back at Wharfemeadows Park, Otley tonight for training at the usual time of 6pm - 8pm.
Newcomers are always welcome, so drop us a message if you’re thinking of getting involved for the first time.

Game #1 of Sunday’s rescheduled fixture at home against the Manchester Bees saw the Locos dominate play, taking the win without playing the full seven innings and helped along by excellent pitching from Alastair Hutton. Manchester followed suit with strong pitching and plays of their own in game #2, ending the day in a draw with both teams taking a game.
We won’t mention the football result… 🙈
We’re getting déjà vu!
Today the Locos face off against the Manchester Bees once again, in our rescheduled home game originally slated for 2nd June. Here are our starting line ups for both games.
We shared the wins last time, let’s get ‘em both this time and bring it home 💪🏼⚾️⚽️😉
LET’S GO LOCOS!!!
Last weekend saw us split the result away against Manchester Bees 🐝 ⚾️🏟️
The Locos demonstrated some strong hitting at times, notably five runs in the first inning of game #1, but we couldn’t quite build from that for the remainder of the game, leaving Manchester to clinch the win.
Kyle Wilson’s pitching was outstanding in game #2, while Abdul Abbas’ high pressure clutch hit in the last inning of the second game helped drive in the winning run and was a great way to end the day!
MVPs went to Conrado Ferreira in game #1 and Kyle Wilson in Game #2 👏👏👏
Tomorrow we’re back at Wharfemeadows Park to take on the Bees once more for our rescheduled game originally slated for 2nd June. Stay tuned!
⚾️ Play baseball in Yorkshire! ⚾️

A swarm of Locos are heading West this morning to take on the Bees 🐝
Bee afraid, bee very afraid! LET’S GO LOCOS!!! 👏⚾️🏟️💪🏼
Two bad innings cost us badly last weekend against Sheffield, but as a team we had a solid day! The Locos turned out in force at Wharfemeadows Park with all players getting game time and batting hard. A particular shoutout goes to our MVPs, Danny and Andy, for some great defensive play in game 1 and 2 respectively.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see the Locos growing as a team with new players improving every week. Keep up the hard work Locos ❤️
The week seems to have flown by, but we’re delighted about that because it’s once again!
Today we take on the Sheffield Bladerunners 2 in what, incredibly, is our penultimate home game (fear not, we’re only half way through the season).
So if you’re in the area, or considering getting involved, why not pop down to Wharfemeadows Park (via our sponsor The Traditional Sweet Shop Otley 🍬😉) and see what all the fuss is about.
LET’S GO LOCOS!! 👏⚾️🙌
Let’s give a huge shoutout to yesterday’s MVPs…
Game 1 MVP went to Conrado Ferreira for getting the Locos’ first ever grand slam.
Game 2 MVP went to Abdal Abbas for being our first player to hit two home runs in one game.
Two seriously worthy recipients right there. Congratulations to you both and thanks for all your hard work! 👏☄️🎉🏟️
Yesterday was an epic day for the Locos!
Game #1 against the Halton Trojans saw strong pitching from Abdal Abbas but the highlight had to be Conrado Ferreira’s grand slam! 👏 Danny Cuthbertson hit an awesome double and Anton Stanchev’s fielding game was on point. This all came together for an amazing result of 33 - 2 to the Locos.
The Loco’s hitting domination continued into game #2 with Abdal Abbas bagging two home runs in back to back at bats! 🔥 Alastair Hutton followed suit with a homer shortly before Anselm Tulloch completed a solo triple play to end the game with a score of 32 - 3.
Huge congratulations to the whole team who came home with two incredible results ⚾️💪🏼🙌
Tomorrow is game day and the Locos’ first away game of the season! This time we’re off to Halton to take on the Trojans ⚾️⚔️
The team have been making incredible progress during our training sessions and we’re pumped to have a few new recruits joining our starting lineups tomorrow.
