CCL has designed and installed the for Lighthouse, the tallest residential tower in in cooperation with Ramboll and Per Aarsleff A/S. The post-tensioned slabs are each 200 mm thick and span up to 10 m.
The 142-meter-tower, together with two lower-level side buildings, will provide 400 homes at a unique location at the tip of Aarhus Island, providing first-class views of the city, the bay, and the forest.
At CCL we understand that the way in which our clients choose products and services for their projects can have a major impact on their potential to significantly reduce their impact on the environment.
Because of this, we have completed independent assessments of our systems and products by producing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) enabling our clients to meet their sustainability targets.

CCL used the Maturix | Real-time concrete monitoring system to monitor concrete strength development at Warwick University Faculty of Arts Building, where the company designed and installed post-tensioned slabs and beams.
Because the Maturix system enables real-time monitoring of the concrete, stressing could be carried out as soon as the designated strength was reached on site. This reduced waiting time, site labour and allowed CCL to optimise the construction schedule while ensuring the integrity of the concrete was maintained.
Usual practice is to cast test specimens for each element and subject these to compression tests in an external laboratory then wait for test results to confirm the correct concrete strength has been reached before stressing can begin.
After construction of the 41-storey Medore building in began in 2010, it was halted at level seven. CCL was called in last year because the client wished to make major architectural changes and complete floors 8 to 39 using post-tensioning.
After determining the need for repair and strengthening of the existing columns and slabs, CCL carried out the work using and steel column jacketing, external and . The company then installed post-tensioned slabs on floors 8 to 39.

The ability to accurately predict curing times of precast concrete slabs enables the removal of the slabs from the beds as soon as they have reached the necessary strength, shortening production phases and resulting in energy and cost savings.

Season’s Greetings to all of our customers, partners and colleagues around the world!
CCL sends it’s best wishes for 2021.
CCL has provided post-tensioning (PT) design, supply and installation to a mixed-use complex (4 plots) at the waterfront district, Lusail, Doha. Strict safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus have enabled the works on site to continue.
In addition, CCL implemented its own safety measures including employee education, health checks, mandatory PPE, social distancing and rapid testing. Design of the post-tensioned slabs was carried out in large part remotely by the engineering teams from CCL companies in Qatar and the Middle East, to ensure there were no delays.
CCL’s strategic stock of PT materials held in Qatar was another factor which helped the company maintain continuity of service, and to avoid interruption of supply in case of regional shutdowns, the company secured additional storage facilities in northern Doha.
Lusail City is a self-contained sustainable city and the largest individual sustainable development in Qatar.

Being able to accurately predict the strength and maturity of for in-situ applications means projects can be progressed as soon as the cure allows instead of waiting for testing or the designated cure period, thereby speeding up the schedule. It also removes the need for costly crush tests.

CCL is so proud to have been involved in the construction of the post-tensioned, zig-zag roof of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) along with Egyptian partners Concrete Stressing Systems "CSS". This film from CNN about the construction of this amazing structure is fascinating and well worth a look. The venue is finally due to open next year.

CCL’s work on key projects recently included the rehabilitation of Salim Salam Bridge, aka Cola Bridge, in Beirut. CCL designed, manufactured and installed mechanical bearings at each side of the 38 fixed piers. The company also designed and installed the bearings.
Congratulations to CCL USA Inc. for achieving DIAMOND standard in Associated Builders and Contractors STEP Safety Management System designed to improve safety performance among its participants. This is just part of the company’s commitment to recognising and ensuring the levels of safety necessary to allow site workers to carry out their activities without incident. Well done to all who made this happen and keep up the excellent work!

The CCL group of Companies is deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred in Beirut on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020. We would like to express our solidarity with all our Lebanese colleagues, suppliers, clients, families and friends.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
CCL has started the post-tensioning work on Alpha House, a new mixed-use development in Ghana. The company is installing 1,600 m² of post-tensioned slabs over 5 floors. The building will comprise offices, conference rooms and a penthouse apartment at roof level and is expected to be complete at the end of the year.
In another change of use refurbishment project, CCL carried out modifications to a shopping mall at one of Kuwait’s largest waterfront retail and leisure destinations. Changes included new openings to existing slabs and additional loadings which impacted on slabs, beams and columns. CCL combined several strengthening techniques including the use of CFRP plates and wraps, external post-tensioning and the addition of concrete sections.
Change of use at a luxury hotel in Doha involved a retrofitting solution from CCL in Qatar. Work undertaken involved the demolition of some of the existing slabs and construction of new RC and post-tensioned slabs at higher levels, creation of new, and closure of existing openings, removal of ramps, and installation of new staircases. CCL also strengthened many of the floor slabs by means of external strengthening to accommodate the new architectural requirements of the building.
CCL worked with London-based architects and Property Group Cyprus on Phase A of the Eden Roc Residences in Cyprus. The development involved construction of three adjacent residential blocks ranging from five to seven storeys. It was constructed to a cantilevered design with the structure stepping in four metres in some locations. Post-tensioning was used to achieve the slender elevated slabs while coping with the planted loads prompted by the cantilevered sections and roof terrace pools. Spans of up to eight metres gave the open plan apartments a spacious internal layout. We are pleased to be on site working on Phase B of the project.
The office towers in Qatar have been transformed into two five-star hotels. CCL designed and executed a strengthening solution and extended podium levels in both towers to facilitate the change of use. Work included the creation of openings in the post-tensioned slabs to incorporate new MEP layouts, new staircase and lift openings, and the closing of redundant voids, along with strengthening to accommodate changes to area and façade loadings. CCL is proud to have worked with Architects and Construction-Al Mana on this project.

CCL was part of the team for Principal Tower; a 50-storey residential development that forms part of the Principal Place mixed use development designed by + Partners, located close to London’s Liverpool Street Station. Part of the building is constructed over an exclusion zone to protect rail infrastructure. The CCL team was involved in designing an engineered solution to transfer the vertical loads away from the exclusion zone, along with design of post-tensioned slabs that reduce the weight of the concrete frame and the height of the building.
CCL is involved with some of the most prestigious and ambitious projects around the world. Our recent projects include the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. To achieve the chamfered triangle design for the folded plate roof, we worked with our partner in , CSS, to provide the post-tensioned concrete solution for the roof’s lateral stability and seismic loading requirements. You can read about the project and our involvement in MEConstructionNews.com.
