Butterfly life cycle ๐ฆ
The children are super busy taking care of their caterpillars at the moment. The staff have been teaching the children all about the life cycle of caterpillars to butterflies, exploring the hungry Caterpillar as well as making a beautiful display board in Early Years of their own caterpillars and butterflies. The children have been watching them closely as they grow and get bigger, measuring them and seeing the transformation. We are super excited to watch the cycle of the caterpillar and butterfly and share this with you all.

Dentist visit
Thank you to my lovely friend Hayley the dentist for coming into nursery yesterday to visit the children and talk to them about the importance of looking after our teeth ๐
The children all sat beautiful and listened super well to Hayley as she demonstrated how to brush your teeth. They played educational games and even received a goodie bag to take home ๐ก

The baby/toddler room saved some of last years pumpkin seeds to plant to try and grow their own pumpkins ๐ฑ ๐
Unsure if it would workโฆ but it has so far. The ladies in this room have now planted them in the nursery garden ๐ชด which they shall now care for each day with the babies & toddlers by watering them ๐ฆ wouldnโt it be just fantastic if we actually grow our very own cherry ๐ tree ๐ณ pumpkins ๐

Cherry Tree Nursery
A personal hello and welcome to Cherry Tree Day Nursery Thurmaston. My name is Helen owner and manager of the setting. I would like to share some information about myself and background to help you learn more about me and my love for childcare.
As a small child myself I always knew that I wanted to work with children, often dreaming of becoming a teacher. When I left school after staying on to do a business studies course, I went straight into working in a day nursery. I loved it! I worked my way up over the years in both roles and qualifications. I completed my level 3 in childcare, became a deputy and then manager at the Montessori nursery I worked at. During my time as manager I started university to do a foundation degree in childcare, giving me a level 4 & 5. I was at this nursery for 13 years before leaving to have my first child. After having my son Harley, I decided to stay home and childmind for a few years. A time that I hold close to my heart dearly. As my son grew older and needed to start play school, I decided to join him and went back to nursery life as a room leader. I then had my second son Ollie and cut my hours to part time. I had a burning desire to go back to university and gain a full degree, so I did. I graduated September 2019 at Loughborough College, Derby university with my husband, beautiful boys and family by my side. I now have a BA in education (equivalent to a level 6 in childcare). With a new dream of becoming a nursery owner for many years now, my plan had always been to be the best that I could be and offer years of experience and top qualifications to for fill the role. Towards the end of 2019 my dreams became a reality and Cherry Tree was bought. I cannot wait for what the future brings. To finally have my own setting, to shape and make my own nursery the way I believe offers children the best possible start to life is going to be an amazing journey! At Cherry Tree Day Nursery we aim to provide a safe, secure, caring, loving home from home experience for all our babies and children, following and adapting to their own unique ways and needs. We endeavour to build on each childโs culture, to share cultures and build upon these by knowing contextual information, helping us to increase capital to their culture through bridging gaps. Culture capital is at the heart of our setting and we look forward to supporting and learning about each other and our families. We offer a nurturing environment full of excellent learning opportunities for all ages and stages of development, with our goal of getting each child ready for life and preparing them for their future journey. Cherry Tree is a fun, happy exciting nursery with a diverse array of learning, and opportunities. Our children are valued, listened to and make their own choices through flexibility and freedom whilst learning through play. Routines are encouraged, along with learning rules and boundaries, through an enabling environment adapting to individual interests using a holistic approach. But most importantly our children are celebrated for being them!
