Holistics by Zara
Currently closed
I am just writing to let you know that I am taking a break from Holistics by Zara for the next few months. This is due to a combination of various factors but mostly to take the time to focus on my development of my skill set within the palliative care setting I am now working in.This hasn't been an easy decision but I feel like the time is now right for a break.
Thank you for all your support and custom over the years....I will miss you over the next few months!
Any existing appointments will of course be honoured and I will be in touch in April/ May time to update you. Thank you # # #
Happy Sunday everyone!
I have decided that due to juggling my two jobs at the moment I am making a few changes to the opening hours of Holistics by Zara. I will review these in a few months.
I am cutting down to one evening appointment a week, mostly due to the fact my 6 year old needs a slightly later bedtime now and it is getting increasingly difficult to get him asleep before 715pm π³
Therefore I will be working a Sunday evening only from now on.
I will also be offering day time appointments between 930 and 3pm on Fridays only.
This means also I will be pausing taking on new clients, unless you have an existing voucher to use.
All existing appointments will be honoured in February.
Thank you for understanding and reading this far! I am eternally grateful for all of your support over the years π§‘π©·ππ©΅π

Gua Sha Crystal Facial Ritual 75 min
Welcome to this new treatment combining Acupressure, massage and Lymphatic drainage in order to restore balance and leave you with radiant, lifted skin.
Perfect as a regular 'facial gym' treatment to tone and lift the face by increasing lymphatic flow and cellular regeneration.
Treatment starts with a cleanse, tone and exfoliate, and includes neck, shoulder face and scalp massage. The Gua Sha tool is used to lift and define, and skin is gently manipulated to trigger the lymphatic system to contract.
Crucially having been a model for this treatment recently it is one of the most relaxing 75 minutes I've had and I drifted off to sleep!!
Β£47 for 75 min
Or, combined with a full facial treatment using Neal's Yard and Botanicals skin care, 90 min for Β£56

Three things I try to give my clients when you come for a treatment with me....peace, calm and most importantly I think, time just for you.
When I first started my therapy journey I wanted to create an experience where time could just stop for an hour or so, and focus could just be on you and your needs.
I took a few photos this evening before my client arrived of little pockets of calm in my room ππ
One of my favourite essential oil blends, especially for feminine energy π
πΉGorgeously floral rose opens the heart
πΉCan help soothe nerves and feelings of anxiety
πΉ Patchouli and vetiver are both grounding and calming.
A wonderful blend for a roll on stick, in the bath with some full cream milk, or in an aromatherapy massage in my calming treatment room..
Those of you that have children will know that in Leicestershire we only have 2 weeks of term time left and then they are not back until September!
With that in mind, think about perhaps booking yourself in for an hour to calm your mind in the next 2 weeks, and then one in September to rebalance you.
Whether it's looking after kids 24/7, balancing holiday clubs and work, the mental load of packing all the things for a trip or seeing relatives more than usual, the next few months can be stressful.
Regular treatments, whether that's once a month, once a half term or once a term whatever fits, can be so helpful in managing our stressful lives πππ
πMonday 3rd July π
- Ever wanted to try Reflexology but haven't wanted to commit to a whole treatment?
- This day is for you to try a 35 minute treatment to see how you feel during and after this wonderful therapy!
- My clients say that regular treatments
can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing.
-It is a touch therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body and reflexologists work these areas to promote homeostasis within the body.

I wasn't sure what to post around Mental Health Awareness Week. Like so many of us I take fluoxetine to help me navigate life, and have done for the past ten years.
This photo is of me and my eldest, with him looking all cute in a tiger suit. It's also a photo of what post natal illness looks like as I struggled to cope with intrusive thoughts, dark spiralling and a general feeling of dread. This is pretty much the only photo i could find of us, as there are barely any photos of me and him for the first 6 months...and none at all of me holding him when he was born. I just couldnt face any of it.
I am so lucky that I had support from my husband, friends and Mums in Mind who all helped me through what I can honestly say was the worst period of my life. At a time that people tell you is meant to be the best.
Anyway I'm not usually as open as this with you all, but I suppose I just wanted to tell you my story this week and that if you have feelings like this you are so not alone and help is there for you. And I am always a listening ear xx
I very rarely post pictures of me but I thought I'd be brave and do a little introduction for those of you that haven't met me yet!
I'm Zara, I'm 37 years old, married to Steve and have a 5 year old and a 9 year old. I've been a holistic therapist for 9 years, having had a career change after the birth of my eldest.
I trained in Derbyshire part time around being a first time mum, and just fell in love with the power of complementary therapies. I am trained in lots of different types of massage, reflexology, facials and am a qualified aromatherapist. I constantly try to improve my skillset, and my next bit of cpd focuses on aromatherapy and the menopause...an issue close to my heart. I am also soon to start as a volunteer complementary therapist at Loros' Wellbeing Hub, offering treatments to patients and their families.
Oh and if you have been to see me you will also have met Liberty, the little schnoodle dog who came to live with us a year ago!
I thought I would update you with the times I have left for May....please message or comment to book.
My recommendation? Ease tired feet and legs with Thai Foot Ritual massage.....a foot bath, beautiful polish, massage of the reflexology points to soothe and balance using hands and polished rosewood, and a refreshing foot balm..1 hour for just Β£45 in May.
Thursday 18th May 10am and 715pm
Friday 19th May 715pm
Sunday 21st May 715pm
Tuesday 23rd May 1pm and 715pm
Wednesday 24th May 1230pm
Thursday 25th May 930am, 130pm and 715pm
Friday 26th May 10am, 1230pm, 130pm 715pm
Treat yourself to some post bank holiday relaxation. Message to book!
My recommendation? It's hard to choose but perhaps a nourishing and uplifting evening facial treatment xx
Why not book in a little time for you to relax at the end of the upcoming bank holidays?
Reflexology is a particularly lovely one to have as part of your evening routine...
Available times I have left:
Monday 1st May 7.15pm and Monday 8th May 7.15pm
Why is it beneficial to have an evening facial treatment?
As well as getting you ready for sleep, evening is a brilliant time to get all the benefits of facial products such as your serums and essences....
π Your skin repairs itself from the day's damage at night, which means you are getting maximum benefits from your products.
πYour skin becomes more dehydrated at night so a nourishing moisturizer is an essential post cleanse.
π Your night time skin care ritual can help prepare the body and mind for sleep, which can lead to a more restful night.
My top tip? Come to your evening appointment in your loungewear or pjs, let me prepare your skin and mind for sleep, then float home!
This ritual is a lovely one for aching muscles...a client once described it to me as 'like having a hot bath' which I think is a great description.
Hot basalt stones are used to massage, combined with warmed bamboo sticks to help create a deeper pressure and provide relief to sore muscles....bliss!
Never tried reflexology? If you're intrigued, please just ask and we can do a complementary 10 min taster session at the end of your treatment.
You will fall in love with how balanced, refreshed and relaxed you will feel as you float out of the treatment room!
I absolutely love getting feedback from clients on how they felt after their treatment. Reviews are also so so important for small businesses so it is really appreciated, thank you!
Some benefits that clients have found include increased feelings of well-being, better sleep, a sense of peace and a sense of a weight off their shoulders both literally and figuratively! What benefits do you feel after your massage I would love to know xx
A lovely new parcel has arrived at the treatment room... new facial products by Botanicals that are Leicestershire made, vegan and organic. They smell beautiful and I can't wait to start using them in facials with you all.
A little revamp of my treatment menu will be coming soon β€οΈ
Facial lymphatic drainage massage is more than just a facial massage. This morning I have a client who comes for a regular 'face lift' massage with me and her skin always looks so glowing and radiant post treatment.
Some of the benefits:
-Improves dull skin
-Reduces puffiness by draining lymphatic fluid
-Boost circulation
-Reduce the appearance of fine lines
Message me if you'd like a chat about how this lovely relaxing treatment could benefit you!

Such a beautiful oil that is often requested in my aromatherapy treatments...often reminds people of the smell of Earl Grey tea.
Bergamot, or Citrus bergamia, can help with pain relief and management and is said to have anti-inflammatory properties.
It is also a great oil to use in skin care if you have oily skin and has anti bacterial properties.
