The Amor' Sport Board and Management joins the Zimbabwean football family in mourning the death of former Harare City FC, CEO Tafadzwa Basera.

She died this morning at her home in Eastlea, Harare.

Women football in Zimbabwe

Since their appointment in July of 2023, the NC of the Zimbabwe Football Association didn't organized any friendly games for the Mighty Warriors or the Junior women's national teams.

They never utilized the FIFA Women's friendly break it never existed on their calendar.

Should we count how many friendly games the Warriors played
(a) Inauguration Cup
(b) Four Nations Cup

Compare that with zero for the Mighty Warriors. During the NC tenure, the Mighty Warriors only played the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women's Championship in October 2023.

As for the Women's Super League, we won't mention it. Yes, players have been registered on FIFA Connect and clubs received part of the FIFA Forward grant but is this enough?

Some of us have passionately followed and covered women's football not just by joining social media groups and asking for results and top goal scorers but by watching some of the games live hence we understand what exactly is happening on the ground.

They should have at least organized just one friendly match or training camp for the Mighty Warriors just maybe we could have taken them seriously.

The song resonates deeply with what I want in this life. I want to leave an impact on the sports world and slowly but surely I am.

"I wanna leave my footprints on the sand of time.”

Over the last couple of months, I have been creating content for the African Youth Chess Championship as I tried to hyper the prestigious continental youth chess showpiece.

This also involved a lot of research and fact-finding and because I am passionate about what I do it wasn't a huge or difficult task.

I was part of the LOC (Local Organizing Committee) team that was responsible for preparing and staging the 15th edition of the African Youth Chess Championship.

Not only was it a big 15 but also the biggest African Youth Chess Championship ever hosted attracting close to 500 budding chess stars.

From explaining what the mascot symbolizes to drafting trivia questions tracing past hosts and winners and most importantly getting my South African colleagues to help with coverage of this tournament was an exciting experience.

I want to appreciate the Individuals who have seen the potential that I have and have given me a platform to shine and leave an impact.

Every other day I felt appreciated by chess administrators, officials, coaches, chess parents, and players.

"The hearts I have touched will be the proof that I leave." That I made a difference, and this world will see.

The Amor' Sport Board and Management joins the Matongorere family in mourning the death of football legend Nelson Matongorere.

Mudhara Matongorere is a former ZIFA Technical Director and helped set up Grassroots and FUTSAL Projects.He had a Team in Division 2 and Mentored a great number of coaches.

He was a CAF / FIFA Instructor.A former Junior and Senior National Team coach,

He coached the Zimbabwe u20s, u23s, and women's teams.He was also the current CAPS United Technical Director.His legacy lives on!

Michelle is also an Author who has had her work published.Her organization partners with various groups to help propel the sport forward whilst addressing issues close to her heart such as inclusion of women and youth as well as educating different demographics.

Michelle is the visionary behind the Howzattt Cricket brand.A brand synonymous with bridging the gap between different groups of people and bringing diversity.She continues to use Cricket as a vehicle for Development, education and growth

As the curtain comes down on this year's series, we want to honor and celebrate a Retired Football Referee and former athlete, Sibuyile Hadebe. She is also a passionate Sports fan.

Today, we pay tribute to an illustrious football veteran whose legacy includes nurturing many South African PSL football players and securing scholarships for young ones to universities etc.

She is affectionately called Mama Coach or Coach Seski.The one in a few women who own a successful football academy and has defied the odds to becoming a major success in a field that is predominantly male dominated.

Amor' Sport Celebrates a woman who's majored in spaces and codes that are not familiar with women.
The Wrestling sport code is not popular with many African women.

By showcasing her skills, knowledge, and passion for the sport, she is not only proving that women belong in this industry but they can thrive in it and unlock the many avenues and opportunities it avails.She is also a young women's mentor, Maculwamahle Nkomo

🔸She is the Provincial Coordinator for Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board

🔸Did you know that Maculwamahle is a Certified Level 1 National Boxing Coach?

🔸The Chairperson of Women and Girls in Sport Committee (Matabeleland South Province)

🔸Adjudicator for Youth empowerment programs

🔸Advocate for Inclusion for People with Disabilities in Sport

🔸The brains behind the Gorgeous Girls in Gloves program which aims to increase girls and women participation in Boxing in Matabeleland South province.

🔸Introduced and coached the 1st Rugby team at Thohoyandou Correctional Services as a Sports intern and that team eventually made up 3/4 of the Provincial team at the selections.

Amor' Sport today Celebrates a dynamic visionary and powerhouse, Precious Majaka.Precious is also an accomplished Women in sport advocate.

🔸️Precious is a National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Lecturer in the Department of Sports Science and Coaching

🔸Did you know that Precious is the Founder of HerSport

🔸She was part of the 1st group that graduated from the TAFISA Women in Leadership Programme (WLP) facilitated by the SRC and the Sports Ministry

🔸Research interests:Menstrual health , Sports Injuries,Netball,Sports Biomechanics

🔸A Pioneer of Physical Education and Mass Display assessments

🔸️One of the few Researchers in Sports Biomechanics in the Southern African Region
