Hey Judokas, Leila here for the final update of the year.

I would just like to thank each and every single one of you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible year we have had. It took a A lot of hard work behind the scenes by the committee to get the club off the ground but truly we couldn’t have done it without the continued commitment shown by our members. It has transformed this club entirely.

As most of you may know we had only two official members last year, which has now transformed into over thirty hard working players dedicated to their club. This exponential growth has not been our only improvement, with (for the first time in club history) 18 medals being won across 5 competitions, a BUCS national champion crowned who is soon to be president, and the first successful Martial arts ball and social established.

These are just some of the things we have accomplished as a club this year, and I know it is only the tip of the iceberg of what we can achieve. I am so proud to represent such an incredible community and successful club, and I’m so excited to pass the torch to next years committee.

I’d also like to congratulate every single medal winner as seen in the post, as well as our recipients of the Liverpool Uni Judo Club Awards. Congrats guys, sorry they couldn’t be awarded in person.

While I won’t be there in person next year, I’ll be there in spirit, so this is your devoted social sec signing off for the summer xoxo

ANNOUNCING UNI OF LIVERPOOLS VERY FIRST MARTIAL ARTS BALL

I am so pleased to announce our joint martial arts ball. This has been a year in the making and has so much dedication and planning behind it!

So drop your Gi’s for Glam, and purchase your ticket from the sports hall! (available until the 26th of may). With live music and more to be announced, we can’t wait to see you and draw this year to a close!

Something new for AU night number 5!!!

This AU night is a pub crawl, starting at 10PM, buying a ticket gets you access to all of these lovely pubs, and we’ll be ending the night in mccooleys!!!

Pres times and location TBA, no theme this time except blue and golf-esque. You also get a visor with your ticket so I’ll be picking those up before the night out

UOL CROSSOVER EVENT!!

After, I kid you not, weeks of planning we’ve finally got a date for the first martial arts social!! We hope everyone from every club can join us on Saturday the 16th for a pub crawl, starting at the Sphinx @7:30

No theme, just turn up get to know people and have fun!! 💙🥋

(Times and pubs might change depending on what people are feeling, and ofc we’re all going out afterwards!)

It’s Christmas social time!!!

This is the first time we’re doing a big Christmas social in a while so hopefully we get a nice turnout!!

AU NIGHT THREE!!!!

It’s officially the first day of Christmas, hope you all got something nice in your advent calendar! 🎄

This month were raising money for movember by hosting a mock judo competition in anticipation for our competition in Sheffield!!

Bring your friends, your flatmates, anyone you can to watch you be thrown around for a good cause!!

Tickets to come along and watch (& to participate if you’re a member) are £3 and we ask you keep a receipt of your donation as a form of ticket

AU NIGHT NUMBER TWO

The theme is Hollywood and this time we’re putting a judo theme on it and going with fight club costumes!!

Once again costumes are mandatory!

October is breast cancer month so we’re asking all of our members to wear pink/ a bra over their clothes and bring along a donation for CoppaFeel

Breast cancer effects 1 in 7 women and 400 men are diagnosed every year. It’s a brilliant cause and we hope to see some very pink Judoka’s 💗💗

Now’s the time to be getting your AU memberships! Here’s a little tutorial on how to get them online

£60 a year works out to about £1.50 a session so it’s a worthwhile investment. The last slide also shows you what you get access to with membership

Alternatively, you can go into the sports centre on campus and get it there

Only cool people get judo memberships 💙

ITS THE FIRST AU NIGHT OF THE YEAR!

Costumes are mandatory! (And no even if it’s not your first year at uni you’re still a fresher) we expect you to be all dressed up.

Its World Judo Day!

Thanks to everyone that came to our taster sessions this week, its great to be back. We hope to see more of you next week for our final two taster sessions, on Tuesday and Thursday.

REMINDER! We are running a taster tonight, we hope to see as many if you as possible!

We are going to meet outside Greenbank Halls at around 5:45 to make sure everyone finds the gym! Please bring water and comfortable sports clothing. Its Breast cancer awareness month, so if you have anything pink please do wear that!

HUGE NEWS! We are back with more taster sessions, all totally free and welcome to all. So if you missed out on tasters or just want to give another sport a go, find us at the Greenbank Gym next Tuesday!

1. British judo Association License

2. AU membership
You can get these either at the sports centre on campus or online
If you are a JMU you will need to get an external AU membership
