Born in London and raised in the deep south of the United States, Ben’s musical style reflects these experiences. His guitar playing is an intoxicating mix, combining the raw delta blues of Robert Johnson, the Piedmont style of Reverend Gary Davis and the infectious bounce of Big Bill Broonzy. With this as a foundation Ben also makes use of his years playing rock music, New Orleans jazz, and classical guitar, resulting in powerful lyrical soundscapes and an original songwrting style that reflects the bredth of genres.
This combined with a soulful voice and commanding stage presence completes the picture of an innovative artist.

Among Ben’s many projects, his band ‘The Spikedrivers’, which he founded in 1992, has released 10 CDs featuring over 60 of his original compositions. Ben also performs with: ‘Saints & Sinners’, a blues & gospel group, featuring Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke. Other projects include duo work with Guy Tortora, Brooks Williams, Mike Dowling, Roger Askew, Martin McNeill, Steve Morrison, as well as being featured artist with, Tim Aves ‘Wolfpack’, The Boogaloo Blues All-Stars and with The Royal Shakespeare Company..

Will James is a guitarist, singer and songwriter hailing from the South of England.
He is fast emerging on the UK Blues Scene providing his own unique stamp to the blues, through his electrifying Guitar playing and raw soulful voice.

HarmoNick is a guitar player who sings as well, plays harmonica, wrote his own blues-rock ‘n’ roll music, and Jake Vegas is a singer and double bass player. They usually play as a full band ,but they do some acoustic gigs, too. They have been performing in London together the last two years in Camden,Shoreditch, Soho,Noting Hill ,Bloomsbury in Venues like Jazztrain, St Moritz Club,Assembly, Angies, Old Crown, Trisha’s and many more.

Tonight we present:
Graham Hinton and Tom Brundage
of The Mess of Blues.
The Mess of Blues was formed by Graham Hinton and Don Bowen in 2004 and took its name not just from the Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman song, but because of the way their first few gigs went.

However the arrival of ex-Commotions drummer Stephen Irvine tightened everything up, and the musical knowledge of guitar legend Owen Houlston made them re-think the name, but by then it was too late. 

By the time harp-player Tom Brundage made Mess of Blues a fivesome, no-one cared.

The Joff watkins duo comprises two of Britain’s best blue musicians. Joff Watkins, vocals and harmonica, is known as one of the best harmonica players around. Joff the has played many sessions and has numerous radio credits to his name. CJ Williams on guitar has a style that is totally unique. CJ makes the guitar sound like two people are playing at once. Together they make a sound that covers the funk inspired blues from New Orleans, the deep blues of North Mississippi, all with a touch of South London attitude thrown in.

Ray Wallen is a Blues Singer and Harmonica Player from London, UK. He has played in several ensembles such as Doctor Blue Blues Band, The Chameleons, Dan Nash etc.. His expressive blues vocals come from his passion for the music and the experience of listening to and playing Roots Music since his childhood . Ray has studied the Blues harp and become one of the most respected players on the U.K. Scene. His Acoustic and Amplified harp are full of tone. Ray's charisma and stage presence have won him fans where ever he goes.
Davide Mazzantini is a tasteful guitar player, well-known in the main blues bars in London. He's been performing in the Ain't Nothin' But's house band since 2010, hosting the famous Monday night session since 2012 and playing there during the week and weekend with some of the most famous blues bands of the UK.

Emanuele “Manny” Fizzotti, longtime London resident, is one of Italy’s foremost and most versatile blues guitarists.
He graduated “with honours” at the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, where he also played as a session guitarist at Shanghai Recording Studios working with Mike Carnevale (engineer for Eric Clapton, Greg Allman, Jeff Beck and Keith Richards) and performed at well known blues clubs such as Harvelle’s in Santa Monica.
One of the busiest artists on the London blues scene he performed at well known clubs such as the “Ronnie Scott’s Bar”, the “606 Club”, “The Bull’s Head”, the “12 Bar Club”, the “Troubador”, the “Boom Boom Club”, “The Hideaway”, the “Ain’t Nothin’ But Blues Bar” and “The Eel Pie Club” and he had the pleasure of being invited to play with the "Dennis Greaves Band", "Nine Below Zero" and the great Chicago blues ambassador Billy Branch
