We work closely with affected countries, sharing evidence and expertise to eliminate preventable infections. Unlimit Health is the new name for SCI Foundation - UK (page facebook.com/sci.ntds). The change happened on 27 February 2023.
The World Health Organization (WHO) global progress report on NTDs shared in today's World Health Assembly indicates that 89.1million people affected by schistosomiasis received treatment in 2022. More needs to be done, but we are proud of our progress.
A major review led by the World Health Organization (WHO) has highlighted an urgent need for research to better understand the effects of climate change on and , and build effective mitigation strategies.

❤️ We loved looking through all the entries to our poster competition, aimed at shining a light on neglected tropical diseases.
They were fantastic and served as an important reminder of how art has the power to raise awareness about issues people may not be aware of. 🎨

One of the biggest challenges in tackling parasitic worm infections is that they affect the most marginalised and hard to reach people. How do we make sure that treatment reaches the those most in need?
This interactive story illustrates how using tools such as coverage evaluation surveys (CES) enables us to assess aspects of a treatment programme’s process, performance, and messaging.
Our work alongside ministries of health allows us to review these elements on a regular basis, providing opportunities to improve treatment programmes.

Parasitic diseases affect the most marginalised communities, often in remote and difficult to access locations. Mass deworming campaigns are one way to guarantee the right of all people to live a healthy life.
The principle of universal health coverage (UHC), according to the World Health Organization (WHO) definition, means that all people have access to the full range of quality health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship.
Check out the interactive storymap about how we're supporting ministries of health in affected countries to do just that: https://unlimithealth.org/news/the-link-between-de-worming-and-universal-health-coverage/

As many as 3.8 million young women in Côte d’Ivoire are at risk of a parasitic infection which can lead to infertility and a four-fold increase in the risk of HIV.
Female ge***al schistosomiasis (FGS) is caused by the Schistosoma haematobium parasite, which is found exclusively on the African continent.
Infection occurs following contact with contaminated water when the parasite’s eggs cause damage to a woman’s reproductive organs.
However, lack of knowledge among communities and health workers leads to misdiagnosis of FGS as a sexually transmitted infection.
This brings stigma and stops women seeking help.
