The Great Wave - A three dimensional white gold hand carving captures the dynamism of the sea.
By creating the Great Wave timepiece, Christophe Bernardot wanted to capture both power and motion to express the dynamism of the sea and, at the same time, frame the round dial with an image. Moreover he wanted a more forceful depiction which led him to create a three dimensional white gold engraving of a wave. For still greater visual depth, he endowed it with a patina using the Japanese Shakudo techniques which he pioneered at Blancpain with the award-winning Ganesh dials. With multiple treatments of the finely hand carved image, coupled with delicate polishing of some of the areas, Christophe Bernardot was able to bring shadow, light and energy to his wave.

Fifty Fathoms Grande Date
Blancpain’s large date mechanism has been a feature of several models in the Villeret Collection. In addition to the enhanced readability due to the large size of the numerals, its design changes the date instantly at midnight without excess energy consumption from the running train of the watch. Those advantages have been brought to the new Fifty Fathoms Grande Date. The large windows have been placed at 6 o’clock, with the date adjustable via the crown.
