Thoughts and well-wishes for the week.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day. For those with mental health concerns, that can feel like one's world, daily.
The impetus for Innercycle was belief in a fresh approach to the rise in numbers of people struggling to maintain well-being.
On World Mental Health Day 2016, the UN highlighted need for "immediate support to those in psychological distress after a crisis."
In 2017, WHO's focus was mental health in the workplace.
Two years ago, the theme was the young; in 2019, su***de prevention.
Now: celebration of professionals - we also add unpaid family carers and volunteers - who support those facing all of these 'themes' and more, each and every day.
Talking helps. Active listening, too. Actions can speak louder.
We celebrate those who've donated, sponsored, gifted products and shared their valuable time to help us in early-stage - and dormancy - towards established, effective impact.
We can all take it one day at a time in coming back to our best during these unprecedented times. Yet ability to achieve ideals depends upon help.
What could you do on World Mental Health Day to help someone? Insignificant it may be to you, yet a smile can make someone's day. Can you gift a moment, if not in a position to spare change? What could you do daily to brighten the lives of those around you, not just once a year? Scope to act more kindly - to yourself and others - each day?
Please share.
In gratitude, from all at Innercycle
A good weekend to all and for all🙏
You
I experience schizoaffective disorder but I am not my diagnosis Before I experienced mental illness for myself, my knowledge of mental illness was zero. That all changed in 1997, when I found myself in a very dark place. A lot of unpleasant experiences occurred at the same time, which resulted in my feeling that I could no longer cope with life. This resulted in...
After 2 months of inactivity within our workshops, training providers Activate Cycle Academy, pjcsonline.co.uk Ltd and Torq Zone Academy are re-opening in June following respective Government announcements and guidelines! Read the full announcement here: https://www.cytech.training/news/?id=2920
We take the health and safety of our trainees, employees and the associated responsibilities of our training providers very seriously. In line with official information and advice from trusted sources including the World Health Organization (WHO) and local Governments, we've put in place safety and social distancing measures within our workshops to keep attendees and staff safe from the spread of COVID-19. Before attending trainees should read the guidelines surrounding the measures in place and adhere to them whilst on the courses. Details of these can be found here: https://www.cytech.training/information/covid-19/course-safety-measures/
As well as our practical courses we're currently offering 1/3 off the full price of our introductory Theory one course until the end of May! Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/cytech.training/posts/2875252279197055

Dear friends, supporters, followers,
You may be aware that the 2.6 Challenge launches today, Sunday 26 April, marking the 40th London Marathon that also serves as a significant fundraiser.
By taking part in an activity (cycling welcome, though not necessary!) based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 to support a charity of your choice via twopointsixchallenge.co.uk.
The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise if you do it, and social distancing, whenever is most convenient for you.
There are just five simple steps to take:
1. Dream up your 2.6 challenge – perhaps just asking people to send you their favourite cycling-related quote, route, or reason why they cycle, for you to compile a list of 26 to share with everyone – if you need help there are lots of ideas on the main site: twopointsixchallenge.co.uk
2. Head to twopointsixchallenge.co.uk to donate £26 – or whatever you are able to donate – to Innercycle, or a charity of your choice, to set up a fundraising page. Or you can use Innercycle's unique link: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-portal/createFundraisingPage?charityId=1017466&eventId=35005
3. Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge
4. Complete your challenge
5. Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media with .
For further information on The 2.6 Challenge, including a list of partners and supporters, and for more ideas about what your activity could be, visit twopointsixchallenge.co.uk
We hope you’ll join the 2.6 Challenge to support Innercycle and help other UK charities. Thank you!
Shout out to Manilla Cycling members participating in a virtual 100-mile Prudential Ride London event, via Zwift and Zoom – fundraising today for Innercycle! 🙌 Chapeau!

The well-wishes for everyone in our last post hold during these times. Heartfelt thanks too, to all who have been involved to date, stay safe.
Though resources are in place, we remain entirely voluntary, without capacity to responsibly offer provision until we are adequately funded to sustain operational activity. As such, it is inappropriate to offer guidance beyond 'signposting' to your local GP, NHS resources and the MHF site:
https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk
Innercycle perhaps was and remains ahead of its time. Few could have foreseen such developments with countless charities closing or struggling to maintain services.
There's no doubt that there's going to be continued need for what we were set up to offer.
As everyone understandably looks to maintain their own finances, donations have all but ceased. Yet if you can assist with time remotely (innercycle.org/volunteers-supporters), or by selecting Innercycle when shopping via smile.amazon.co.uk or possibly an online fundraiser of some kind, with gratitude to our partners and supporters, we can be there the other side of this, ready to help for the longer term.
Thank you for your understanding, stay safe and well! 🙏💜

This week's CyclingUK post on a case study dear to our cause caught our eye. Great to see. Our combined model adds to an individual cycling plan with self-referring for confidential counselling (choice of accredited practitioner), plus practical help with steps to resume/remain in a purposeful career/self-employment, for up to a year. We believe this is needed to build on other existing efforts, and uni's (with commissioning orgs) have indicated interest. With your wonderful help, we're working towards wider awareness to help develop rollout 🙌

The upcoming 'Black Friday' – an appropriated American phenomenon – creates mixed feelings. However, beyond one day of retail frenzy, Amazon now donates to your registered charity of choice each time you shop.
If you'd like to support our work in this way, please visit smile.amazon.co.uk, enter 'Innercycle' in the search bar and select the profile. Then, whatever you buy whenever you buy (via that URL), Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price to Innercycle!
You can switch charities or opt-out any time if you wish. Thanks!

It's been awhile! It's also been...emotional.
Delighted to announce that Innercycle CIO is now a registered charity in England & Wales: number 1179976.
Thanks to the intervention of the Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP, the Charity Commission eventually upheld all of our submitted complaints during an application process that supposedly takes eight weeks, resolved finally after eleven months with significant implications. As a result of their findings, the Commission has now improved procedures and customer care for other charities seeking registration. Which is nice.
Meanwhile we're a thing again, good to be back! We always did things properly around here, governance and all that. However, being registered aids fundraising efforts and we could use a little help, folks. As some of you know, we had to stand down the team, put things in storage and mothball a few systems while we awaited 'a number'. The trustees and the acting chief exec are unpaid and with self-funding reliance on the founder no longer possible, getting things back up and moving again – as well as longer-term sustainability – means focus on monetary and non-monetary support. If you can spread the word, help us to help others, fab!
Things haven't stood still entirely: some exciting developments to share soon :) Thanks to everyone who has been there since the start, couldn't have done it without you...{hugs} # # #
