"The '15 vintage was very warm, giving the wine a lot of concentration and richness. It needs time to unfurl its full personality."

In partnership with Baron Philippe de Rothschild we are delighted to reveal the label and artist for the 2021 vintage of Château Mouton Rothschild.
The Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota has created the original artwork Universe of Mouton for the latest label. Asked about the inspiration for her artwork, she commented:
“When I visited Château Mouton Rothschild, I was very inspired by their relationship with nature. They depend on the weather and do not interfere with mother nature. They accept the conditions in which the grapes grow. I think Mouton is holding on to the balance of human and nature.”
Today is the 325th day of the year, and we wanted to do something a little special to celebrate, to tie in with our anniversary year. We are therefore delighted to unveil our 325th Anniversary Laphroaig 1999 Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
As part of his role, our Spirits Buyer, Rob Whitehead, tastes hundreds of special spirits casks each year. When one stands out to him as being particularly special, he’ll keep a close eye on it and retaste it many times as it evolves. This cask really struck him, many years ago now, and we’ve been waiting patiently for it to mature ever since.
Because it's been ageing for so long there are just 232 individually numbered bottles available.

Champagne offers an enormous wealth of diversity and style – if you know where to look. While a few titanic Grandes Marques names and brands have made the region famous, the smaller-scale growers of Champagne represent a huge span of innovative approaches and winemaking techniques: the very pinnacle of artisan production.
This autumn, we’ll be highlighting just some of these incredible producers. With Champagne at the cusp of a climatic and cultural change, now is a fantastic time to discover the new start of this historic region.

Eben Sadie makes some exceptional wines, quietly tucked away in a little corner of the Swartland in South Africa.
So, when the opportunity to work with winemaker Eben Sadie and The Sadie Family Wines arose, we were delighted. We are very proud to introduce the new additions to our Own Selection range: the Swartland Red and Swartland White, crafted for us by Eben.
Made from the young fruit of his newest plantings, these aren't just delicious in their own right - they also offer a snapshot of the future of The Sadie Family Wines. When older, these vines will produce fruit that will be used for the legendary Signature Wines range.

Wander into our Old Shop at No.3 St James’s Street, and your eye might be drawn to the shelves around the room, laden with enormous heavy ledgers.
These aren’t just for decoration. Many contain century-old orders, details of notable events – the outbreaks of the World Wars and the sinking of the Titanic included – and records of customer weighing.
Our famous weighing scales greet everyone who walks into the Old Shop. In the late 18th century, it was enormously fashionable to know one’s weight, and many illustrious figures visited to have their turn on the scales – like world champion boxers, Japanese sumo wrestlers and even Lord Byron.
If you’re interested in touring the building for yourself, we’re opening up our doors for charity on 23rd August. Buy tickets here: bit.ly/3YGvzC9
Tucked away at the back of the Old Shop, No.3 St James’s Street, is a small parlour where a milestone of Berry Bros. & Rudd history happened.
It was March, 1923. Famed Scottish artist James McBey called on the Berry Bros. & Co. partners for a lunch in the aforementioned Parlour, an intimate and wood-panelled room. During this, he not only suggested the name “Cutty Sark” for a newly-selected blend of lighter whisky, but also sketched out a label design on a napkin.
A brand was born – although the signature yellow of the label was actually thanks to a serendipitous mistake made by the printers. Cutty Sark Scotch became the first to sell over 12 million bottles in the US in one year, doubling this almost six years later. For the next 90 years, it would be one of the foundations of our entire business.

While we like to think we know a thing or two about building a stellar fine wine cellar, we’re strong advocates for the fact that spirits should have a place in any collection, too.
In Episode 4 of Drinking Well, we’re speaking to our Global Brand Ambassador, Joe Whittaker, who lives and breathes spirits day-to-day. With our host Barbara Drew MW, he discusses how to collect these, why they balance out a collection, and what part we play in bottling our own spirits.

In 325 years, Berry Bros. & Rudd has accumulated quite the archive of historical anecdotes. Yet despite what many believe, our Napoleon cellar is not named after Napoleon Bonaparte. In fact, it is named after his nephew, Louis-Napoléon.
Though he eventually became Napoleon III of France, Louis-Napoléon spent some years in exile in London in the 1840s and was a great friend of the Berry family during that time.
Today the cellar is where we host many of our fabulous lunches, dinners and tastings. You can view our current cellar events by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3qFFn2l
