We aim to achieve these objectives by developing innovative programmes that can involve volunteers to deliver high quality solutions to poverty. How often do you get to say " Today I helped make someone's life better"?
Volunteering for Crisis at Christmas is a special experience. It's not all about leading sing-alongs and serving Christmas dinners (although that's part of it!). It's about meeting an individual, hearing their story and helping them start to build a life beyond homelessness. Last year 75% of our hotel guests moved on to safe, permanent accommodation and didn't go back to the streets. They'll be celebrating Christmas in their own homes this year.
When that's been your day, you can understand why our volunteers end their shifts on a high! And they come back year after year. Why not join them? www.crisis.org.uk/christmasvolunteering
🤨 1 in every 208 people is experiencing in England today -- that is 271,000 people. As a society, we can do better.
That's why our staff is committed to helping as many as we can to find suitable accommodation so they can avoid the downward spiral of life on the streets.
Shelter encourages us all to take a photo with the 'roof' symbol, tag them, and use the hashtag in your posts and stories. Let's unite to help end the housing emergency! 🏠
