September is Virology Awareness Month. Virology refers to the study of viral infections, finding out about how to detect, structure and classification them. It is also about studying their evolution and working to create cures. Examples of viral infections include:

This week is Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Week. Rheumatoid arthritis, or RA for short, is one of the more common forms of arthritis.

It is an autoimmune inflammatory disease, which means pain is caused by immune system dysfunction. The immune system, which normally attacks harmful viruses, bacteria or other invaders, will instead attack healthy joints and muscles leading to inflammation, pain and a reduction in range of motion.

RA usually starts to become apparent between the ages of 40 and 60 and can lead to difficulty for the person suffering to look after themselves.
