For one weekend only, from 12th to 14th July, we are joining sixteen of our local neighbours to offer an £8 special on our Nasi Goreng Janda, with £1 for each Nasi Goreng Janda donated to Peckham Pantry: a membership community food club that supports low income families.

Angel number 555 has been popping up everywhere, so we thought we’d offer you a special 555 menu this July.

🌶️ Janda Diner’s New Permanent Space

Malaysian supper club has taken over a tiny hole in the wall location in Peckham. Serving incredibly impressive and delicious Malaysian food, it’s fully worth the overground journey from pretty much anywhere else in London.

🐓AYAM GORENG SUSU🥛

Essentially, it’s ayam goreng with a twist: I expected a dry dish, but the chicken is served in a thick, mellow concoction made with oyster sauce, condensed milk, butter, white pepper, garlic, and curry leaves. Despite the heaviness of some of the ingredients, however, their uses are so precise that you don’t ever feel overwhelmed.

The fried exterior on the chicken means that this sauce clings to it, but the seasoning cuts through the bulkier dairy. It’s an exceptionally decadent-feeling dish that you can actually make headway with, because the cooking keeps it lighter than you’d expect. I ate basically the entire plate on my own, and I’m sure I’ll do it again - Lauren, Food writer.
