At the Backbone we see various degrees of muscle damage. From minor strains to severe/ complete tears. Muscle damage occurs as a result of too much pressure/tension being exerted on the muscles.

There are so many causes of headaches. They can be catagorised into two main types:
𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 – Occur from direct causes such as stress or dehydration.
𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 – Occur from underlying illness or conditions.
If you are suffering from dizziness, nausea, blacking out and vision disturbances, hearing disturbances or night sweats, we recommend you visit your GP immediately before exploring other treatments. This will help rule out secondary headaches occurring as a result of illness, which can be the result of blood pressure issues, infections, symptoms of medications, deficiencies, hormonal imbalances and more.

International Thalassaemia Day is on 8 May, and this year’s message is
“𝗕𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲.”
The first part of the message is about raising awareness, so what is thalassaemia? Thalassaemias are inherited blood disorders that lower, alter or stop the production of haemoglobin in the blood. That leads to anaemia, which might be severe or life-threatening if not managed appropriately.
It is more prevalent in individuals with Caribbean, South American, African, Mediterranean, south Asian, south-east Asian and middle eastern ancestry. Due to migration over centuries, it is found throughout the world, and it is estimated that there are 100 million people worldwide with a thalassaemia trait who are asymptomatic.

Physical Activity – More than 60% of women do not engage in the recommended amount of physical activity. This can lead to other health issues, like obesity, weak muscles and bones, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and more.
Generally, it is recommended that women get around 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day (such as brisk walking). Staying physically active will help to improve your overall health and well-being.

Posture

Pelvic floor dysfunction is the inability to control and/or relax the muscles in the pelvic floor. This may result in issues with bowel movement, urinary issues, lower back pain and more.
The pelvic floor muscles form a basket which helps support and lift the organs in the pelvis; bladder, uterus, re**um. As the pelvic floor weakens, the position of these organs changes creating functional issues.
