On 7th April 2024, Fran will be running the Brighton Marathon for Salivary Gland Cancer UK!

Back in October, Fran was asked to speak at a Salivary Gland Cancer UK event on the late effects of radiotherapy on the mouth. Upon meeting such an incredible group of health professionals, carers and those affected by salivary gland cancers she felt she couldn’t not become more involved with the charity..

As a keen runner and a bit of a sport ju**ie her first thought was - ‘let’s run a marathon!’

Ariane decided to become an orthodontist after having extensive treatment at 12 years old which completely transformed her face and her confidence.
 
Curious to know whether this transformation and confidence was a wide-reaching effect of orthodontic treatment she began researching how the smile impacts life.
 
She found that there was a statistically significant impact in that those with better smiles would have better life prospects, better jobs, better relationships and longer lives due to increased confidence. She decided that she wanted to dedicate herself to helping others in this way.

Ariane loves that with ortho treatment she gets to see her patients frequently over a period of time and particularly in the case of treating children, gets to know them as she watches them grow and develop as people.
 
She enjoys the responsibility she holds in encouraging children where, in some cases, orthodontic treatment is their first experience of independence and doing something for themselves.
 
Ariane volunteers as a mentor at her old school. Each year she is assigned a student to help them decide on a career path and, if within dentistry, she guides them through exams and interviews with her insight and encouragement.

Her favourite part of an ortho appointment is getting into the rhythm and flow of manually attaching fixed braces 🤓

Ariane is a big fan of art, she paints and has exhibited internationally! She collects Post-War Contemporary and Emerging Art. Her favourite gallery is Almine Rech Gallery and her favourite artist is Piero Manzoni.
 
She used to play tennis competitively at a high level until an injury and is now a certified line judge 🎾

When not answering phone calls and emails, or fixing ALL of our IT issues (have you tried turning it off and on again?) she can often be found strolling Marylebone High Street in an outfit reminiscent of Emily in Paris. Mostly at grabbing her fave snacks.

Loula moved to London from Greece in 2020. She likes to read, her favourite book of all time is The Little Prince and she loves to study and learn new things. She is a seriously amazing baker and we are lucky enough to be her Guinea pigs 🙏🏼

She also loves online gaming and her favourite music is heavy metal (who would have thought?!).
