During the month of September, we are focusing on heart health.

One of the best ways to keep your heart healthy is to ensure you get regular exercise. Many of our Clients have limited mobility. However, there are numerous things you can do to ensure you feel the benefits of a workout.

Aerobic: Walking short distances or practising air punches from a chair can raise your heart rate safely, while water-based activities like swimming can help people who live with joint pain.

Strength: Strength training, like resistance band exercises or seated squats, helps build muscle.

Flexibility: Gentle flexibility exercises such as yoga and pilates improve mobility. Many of our offices hold chair yoga sessions in their local community centres, which is also a fantastic way for our Clients to engage with their local community.

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE WEST DULWICH CZ ONLINE CONSULTATION
Hopefully all local residents and businesses are aware that Lambeth Council are currently hosting an online consultation regarding the forthcoming West Duiwich Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) which is scheduled to run 10am-4pm.
Many residents believe the CPZ to be unnecessary and an unjustified further tax burden on vehicles that are already taxed. The CPZ will certainly hurt valuable local businesses who will be hit three times by increased costs for their staff, restricted customer access, and restricted deliveries. Some businesses have already stated they may well be forced to pass costs onto their customers, while others are extremely concerned about whether they will even be able to continue trading.
The online consultation asks everyone to select one of five options:
1. I wholly support this proposal
2. I support this proposal, but would like the council to consider additional or alternative measures
3. I neither support or object to this proposal
4. I object to part of this proposal, but support or am neutral to other elements of it
5. I wholly object to this proposal..and then you must leave a written comment to be able to complete your response.
This appears simple and straightforward BUT in recent meetings with local Road Associations the council have stated that selecting any of the first four options (regardless of your comment) will be taken as being in support of the 10am-4pm restriction.
So we are writing to all residents and businesses to alert you that if you would like to see an alternative time restriction for the CPZ (for example either a reduced time such as 2 hours, or an earlier start and finish such as 8am-10am) DO NOT SELECT OPTIONS 1, 2, 3 OR 4.
If you would like to see an alternative CPZ time restriction YOU MUST SELECT OPTION 5 "WHOLLY OBJECT TO THIS PROPOSAL" and then state your preferred time restriction in the comments. For example "I would like to see an 8am-10am time restriction which would offer more flexibility for visitors and be less damaging to important local businesses".
Whatever your views on the CPZ, it is important everyone completes the online consultation so the council have a full and accurate picture of resident feeling about an important issue. Please also note that more than one household member can complete the consultation.
It can be accessed here: https://consultation.appyway.com/Lambeth (see 'West Dulwich CPZ') and closes on 20
September 2024.
Thank you.

Here at Right at Home, we have a network of dedicated professionals, from all different walks of life. Some, like Clare, come from an NHS background and boast years of experience helping people stay well; others have more personal experience as a community carer.

But, what do they have in common? They have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of in-home care.

Working in tandem with healthcare services, homecare helps people get home after a stay in hospital, while still accessing the vital assistance they need. In turn, this type of care alleviates bed-blocking in the NHS and ensures people receive exceptional personalised support in the comfort of their own homes.
