📚Who loves reading books?! We do too!Introducing Dr Moa Lundstrom, one of our Co Founder at The London Practice to explain our idea of an Honesty Library at TLP. When interviewing all of the therapists about their favourite books that they’ve found helpful for their own personal growth or important on a social level (stay tuned), we decided as a group that it would be nice to have all the books living in one space. What better way to celebrate the opening of the South Kensington clinic on Thurloe St than having an honesty library where you can borrow the books that we recommend for free! 📒📕📗📘Coming soon, follow for more updates!!🔗 in bio to book into the South Kensington clinic. 🎦 &
📍Close to our Liverpool St Station clinic - have you seen Yayoi Kusama’s public artwork?
Infinite Accumulation is a new, site- specific work at London’s Liverpool Street station in which Kusama develops one of the most recognisable motifs of her visual language: the polka dot. Here, the dot is
expanded into linked forms that interact with and
define the public spaces outside the station. The
stainless steel spheres are highly polished to reflect
the viewer and the outside world.
“London is a massive metropolis with people of all
cultures moving constantly. The spheres symbolise
unique personalities while the supporting curvilinear
lines allow us to imagine an underpinning social
structure!

Did you know we offer individual and group DBT sessions?
DBT - Dialectical Behavioural Therapy is based on CBT but adapted to help individuals who have difficulty managing and regulating emotions, who may be prone to self-destructive behaviours.
It was developed for treating borderline personality disorder (BPD) but has been found to be useful for many mental health problems including self-harm, aggression, addiction, PTDS and depression. The aim of DBT is to help you understand and accept your difficult feelings, and stop being controlled by them. It also helps you accept reality and yourself as you are, whilst working towards making necessary changes to make life meaningful.

⚽️🏴✨Encountering disappointment is an inevitable part of life. While challenging, it presents a unique opportunity for personal growth and development. Here are some strategies to effectively manage disappointment:
1. Acknowledge Your Emotions. It is essential to recognise and validate your feelings of disappointment. Allowing yourself to experience and express these emotions without self-criticism can prevent the buildup of stress and anxiety.
2. Cultivate Self-Compassion. Approach yourself with kindness and empathy. Understand that setbacks are a universal experience and do not diminish your inherent value.
3. Reflect and Extract Lessons. View disappointment as a chance to learn. Analyse the situation to identify key takeaways and areas for growth. This reflective approach can convert a challenging experience into a meaningful lesson.
4. Set Realistic Goals. Reassess your expectations and ensure they are realistic and aligned with your core values. Unrealistic goals can often lead to unnecessary disappointment.
Remember, disappointment is a natural aspect of life but does not have to dictate your path. Embrace it, learn from it, and use it as a catalyst for resilience and self-discovery.

☀️🌾✨Some words from Moa, our CoFounder who lives in Sweden! 🇸🇪
This Friday is Midsummer celebrations, one of the biggest celebrations of the year in Scandinavia. Midsummer marks the summer solstice – the longest day of the year, after which we move towards shorter and darker days.
☀️Fewer people seek therapy during the summer months, which could be for a number of reasons but what I suspect is mainly because people are spending more time outside and socialising. When we are doing, we live not inside our heads, but embedded in our environment, and we have less time to worry and ruminate.
💫Throwing yourself into celebratory mode for a short time is not a problem, but when summer becomes one event after the other, we may need to stop and tend to our wellbeing.
⚖️What you can do to practice moderation and balance during these months:
⚡️Avoid overcommitment! Too many events lead to stress and takes the fun out of going.
Limit alcohol intake. Overconsumption will make you sluggish and affect your mood and sleep negatively, making you less tolerant to stress. Make sure you have periods of abstinence!
😌In between doing, make sure you are just being. Unplug and relax by going for walks in nature (without devices) or read a book in the backyard. Forget about the world for a bit before you join it again.
🫂Listen to your body! If you feel tired, say no to events and give yourself time to recuperate.
📆But also say Yes to life and appreciate the months ahead of you!

⚜️A note from our Co-Founder Moa…
The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is Movement. We all know how important physical exercise is for our mental well-being. It can have a profoundly positive impact on depression, anxiety, and ADHD, and can be at least effective as medication and psychotherapies. It also relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your overall mood.
But there is a very important psychological effect that is often overlooked, namely building pride and self-confidence by just having managed to put yourself through something difficult.
Life constantly throws obstacles your way, there’s no escaping it. Being able to tackle challenges, rather than trying to avoid or hide from them is necessary for living a full life. Committing to regular exercise (whether you feel like it or not) builds on your ability to face challenges and do difficult things, which is needed to move forward in life. It gives you freedom.
🧠It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!

A few tips from us 🫶🏻
1. Open Communication: Foster an environment where both partners feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions openly and honestly. Effective communication is essential for understanding each other’s perspectives and finding solutions together.
2. Active Listening: Practice active listening by giving your full attention to your partner without interrupting or judging. Validate their feelings and show empathy to demonstrate that you value their thoughts and emotions.
3. Compromise and Flexibility: Understand that relationships involve compromise and flexibility. Be willing to negotiate and find common ground when resolving conflicts. Avoid being rigid in your expectations and be open to finding mutually beneficial solutions.
4. Respect Boundaries. Respect each other’s boundaries and personal space. It’s important to recognize and honor each other’s individuality while also fostering a sense of togetherness in the relationship.
5. Seek Professional Help if Needed: If you find yourselves unable to resolve issues on your own, consider seeking the assistance of a couples therapist or counselor. Professional help can provide you with valuable tools and guidance to navigate complex relationship dynamics and strengthen your bond.
Sometimes all we need is a little gratitude 🫂
⚜️ Introducing Moa, one of the Co-Founders at The London Practice. Moa crossed paths with Lee in London, where they forged a fantastic working relationship, and the rest is history. While residing in Sweden, Moa splits her time between there and London.
“Psychotherapy is first and foremost about knowing yourself. Sometimes people feel they are going wrong somewhere, but don’t know where or why. Other times, it’s glaringly obvious and they want to know how to change. Sometimes there are deep wounds that need to be lifted out of the dark to heal. The template that was in place in our early experiences will form our view and understanding of the world. Uncovering this is an important part of the work that happens in therapy. I help clients understand their own internal processes, how emotions affect not just your direct interpretation and experience of the world but also your body and behaviour. I base my work in body/mind science and existential philosophy”.
If Moa’s approach speaks to you, please contact us via www.thelondonpractice.com we are happy to arrange a meeting.

Our Story
The London Practice was set up by Moa and Lee in Covent Garden, Central London. Our aim was to create an environment we would enjoy working from, with comfortable rooms that felt like home, and friendly, professional colleagues – an environment where therapists and clients alike would feel welcomed and at ease. We feel we have successfully created an atmosphere where the positive relationship between colleagues and environment seeps into the relationship between client and therapist.
We believe the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is fundamental to the work that takes place in the sessions. We have worked hard to extend this culture and atmosphere to our second location in The City. With every new client we welcome to The London Practice, we feel proud to open our doors to you. No matter what the issue at hand may be, we feel confident we have created the best basis for the challenging but rewarding journey that undertaking psychotherapy is.
