Home Instead - Wimbledon & Kingston
Home Instead Wimbledon & Kingston provides care and support to older people in their own homes. Not difficult, but so important.
Home Instead's ethos is to 'change the face of ageing' and it is with extreme passion and commitment that we are here in your local community. Just because you are elderly doesn't mean you have to stop living. By providing a service of companionship and care to someone when they need it is so simple but can be got so wrong! I have experienced the wrong side of care for both my parents who I lost t

💜September is World Alzheimer’s Month💜
It is a crucial opportunity to raise awareness and destigmatise this type of dementia, as well as address discrimination faced by those suffering with the condition.
Nearly one million people have dementia in the UK. That means that nearly one million families battle every day for their loved ones to get the correct support and care they need.
To mark this, we will be hosting an ‘Understanding Dementia Workshop’ at our office in New Malden, on Tuesday 17th September from 10am -1pm.
To find out more and reserve your spot RSVP on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/understanding-dementia-workshop-tickets-999213924747

Spotlight on: All About Mumz (allaboutmumz.com)
All About Mumz is a sanctuary for relaxation and connection. It is a place where every Mum can take a moment for herself and be cared for. Whether it’s a rejuvenating treatment, a curated event, or a supportive community, there's something for every Mum.
Founder, P**a says that attending our Merton Carers Event and supporting carers is deeply meaningful to her:
'I have witnessed first hand the immense dedication and sacrifice that caregiving requires. My mother has been caring for my grandmother, who is now 99 and bed-bound, for the past four years. She has selflessly devoted herself to ensuring my grandmother's well-being, often at the expense of her own life and personal needs.
My experience as a nanny for 20 years, during which I cared for many children and mothers, inspired me to create All About Mumz to provide much-needed pampering and recognition for mothers. Through this initiative, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various care homes, offering seated massage treatments. I've seen the dedication, hard work, and compassion that carers bring to their roles every day. Supporting them and recognising their efforts is not just important; it’s essential, and that’s why attending this event matters so much to me. It’s a way to give back and honour those who give so much to others.'

Mariana; you recently went above and beyond for a client who was receiving palliative care. They were incredibly grateful for your kindness and care.
Thank you, Mariana. We are so proud of you and so happy that you are part of our team!
💙 Care Professionals are Vital 💙
Nearly double the number of people are receiving care at home compared to those in care homes. This growth in demand has been driven by factors such as NHS bed shortages, the high cost of care homes, and long waiting lists for community care. This trend is set to continue as our population ages, making the role of the Care Professional increasingly important.
At Home Instead - Wimbledon & Kingston, our Care Professionals are passionate about the care they provide.
Eleanor, a dedicated team member since November 2020, shares her experience:
"Throughout the difficult times, we care. We enable our clients to stay at home as long as possible and we keep them comfortable. Supporting our clients and their families makes me proud to work here. The impact we have on their lives is truly rewarding."
Make a difference in someone's life today, consider becoming a Care Professional with us.

Spotlight on: Holben Hypnotherapy.
As a hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, Jackie specialises in helping those suffering from anxiety through solution-focused talk therapy combined with soothing, relaxing hypnotherapy.
She is absolutely thrilled to be supporting the Merton Carers Event. 'Having previously worked with the incredible team at Home Instead - Wimbledon & Kingston, I've witnessed just how amazing they (and all carers) truly are. Caring is an incredibly demanding role, and carers often put others first, sometimes neglecting their own self-care. Stress can manifest in various ways—insomnia, anger, stomach issues, addictions, panic attacks, self-doubt, phobias, anxiety, and more. I’m so excited for the Merton Carers event and can’t wait to meet everyone there!'
On the day, Jackie will be providing insights and understanding to help carers recognise and manage the stress response, empowering them to take better care of themselves. She will also be sharing some practical tools and tricks to handle acute stress when it strikes.

We want to give a HUGE shout out to Gemma F. this week. Her client’s family sent us this amazing feedback and we are so proud of her.
Thank you Gemma from all of us at Home Instead - Wimbledon & Kingston. Keep up the good work!
So sad to read. To all the staff and patients of St Raphael’s, if there is anything we can do to help, please get in touch. 💜
We are very sad to announce that we have now closed our Hospice at Home service.
Hospice at Home was our non-specialist care service providing practical support to patients in the later stages of illness, and their carers from Health Care Assistants.
This change has been made as part of our cuts to our services due to due to the unsustainable financial pressures facing us, and the whole hospice sector. It has been an incredibly hard decision to disband the Hospice at Home Team when we know how much it has been valued by people in our community facing the end of their lives.
Our Community Team is continuing to provide its expert clinical support and advice.
If you require any further information about the Hospice at Home Team email [email protected] or call 0208 099 7777.

🌟 Celebrating Our Amazing Team 🌟
Meet one of our Care Professionals Suzie Speed, 'Speedy' as she is affectionately known, who has been with us for seven and a half years.
What does Suzie love about Home Instead - Wimbledon & Kingston?
"The work culture here is very positive and supportive. Our team is like a family, always ready to help each other out. The training I have received has helped me in both my role and my personal life over the years. To be able to give people advice and the wisdom that we are given is so nice to share.”
Suzie is also our Community Liaison Champion and runs both our 'Love to Move' and 'Love to Sing' community events each week.
"The classes are pure joy for me, and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to be part of them. Some of the attendees don't get out and mingle much so these are guaranteed events away from their homes that they will enjoy, a sense of belonging in a safe environment.
It is so important that we at Home Instead offer these events to the community because there is not much available out there. The fact that we make them accessible and affordable to people is also so very important. Being part of the community where we can all help one another is so valuable."
