Thanks all for coming to Dad's funeral, was the best day it could be, love you all
Sometimes I have clients come to me because they want to learn the sweet science of boxing. Andrei had already trained in Karate and Kickboxing, but didn't want a trainer who simply 'held the pads'.
With over 40 years of boxing under my belt, I'm always happy to lead by example, and willing to get in there and mix it up with my clients. This was one of our easy sessions, as the grass was a bit wet early this morning 🥊🥊
OK I might get some stick for this one, but please read my reasoning before you comment. I think that Tyson Fury is a brilliant boxer, but I don't think he is going to walk through Francis Ngannou, infact I think that if Ngannou comes with the right attitude, it could be the upset of the century. My reasons are as follows.
1, Fury has only fought ONE elite heavyweight in his prime (Klitschko don't count coz he was on the slide). Wilder is not a great boxer and tailor made for Fury's style.
2, Fury is used to being bigger than his opponents and able to bully/intimidate them with his size and manhandling them. When he has a big guy who comes to fight, he struggles. Watch Fury vs Otto Wallin. He should have been stopped in that fight, but for a friendly Dr. Whyte came to fight and Chisora came for a pay day, but not quite elite....
3, Yes Fury can knock you out, but his knockouts usually come from an accumulation of punches and wearing the opponent down by holding and leaning on them.
This is going to be the c***k in his armour if Ngannou has the right fight plan...
So what is the right fight plan?
Those who remember Hagler vs Hearns would have seen that plan executed to perfection. Hearns was one of the best boxers of his time, and Hagler was a great boxer who loved to fight. Hagler deployed the "I'll take three of yours to land one of mine" fight plan. If Ngannou trys to box with Fury, he will get destroyed, but he is not a man to be bullied by size, and being an MMA fighter, he will be used to people leaning on him and trying to impose themselves on him.
These are the steps he needs to take to trouble Fury.
1, Bully the bully, show Fury that you are nearly as big as him, but stronger than anyone he has fought to date. Strength is not just how hard you hit, but the ability to push a guy around the ring to upset his rhythm.
2, Know that Fury is never going to knock you out with his long well timed jabs, let him throw them, take them coming in ( but not too many) and punish him when you get close.
3, Drag Fury into a dog fight where he doesn't control the pace and range, but he is fighting for survival against an immovable human being.
4, Mike Tyson used these tactics to devastating effect, yes he was a much better boxer than Ngannou, but I'm sure Mike hasn't just been for window dressing, he's been passing on the lessons learnt from fighting bigger guys who were great at boxing at their own pace.
5, Watch how Hagler dealt with Hearns, watch that fight over and over.. Hagler said that Hearns would have to hit him with the ring post to stop him and that is the attitude that Ngannou needs to have.
If Ngannou is able to utilise his natural abilities and skills and combine them with his new training and the right attitude, he could be the fly in the ointment. Especially if Fury has underestimated him.
Please bear in mind that I am an ex boxer from the UK, who usually picks the boxer over the fighter. This time I think it could be very different..
Big up the Ladies. Time for your greatness to shine.
Come on England🇬🇬
We will be at the Thamesmead festival today. Giving support and guidance for men and their families. Prostate Cancer affects 1 in 8 men generally, and 1 in 4 black men worldwide. Pop down and pay us a visit if your in the area
In the kitchen listening to the radio, and my song just came on ....
Used to be in a Soul band back in the 80's called 'Touch'. The song was called 'Keep On" First time in years, I've heard it played on the radio.
One of my early project the 'Tree of Knowledge'.
A discarded tree stump which had been around for over 70 years, cut down and thrown on the scrap heap. I was able to salvage it and turn it into something which represents the knowledge that lives on even when we are no longer here.
Wow, the 'kids' bought me a hand drum for my birthday. The tones on this instrument are just so beautiful, going to have some relaxing fun with this xx
Thanks all
At the weekend I was blessed to take part in the Guys 'Celebration of Hope for Cancer Survivors'. It was an amazing day with some amazing and brave people. We got to share a stage and show that were not just surviving Cancer, but we are living our lives...
We were dancing, laughing, having fun, just doing the things that people do. Living and vibrant proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The event however did cause me to reflect on losing my dad (aged 66) and my sister (aged 44) to bowel cancer. In honour of my sister and her love of Salsa dancing, I wore one of her favorite waistcoats, thanks Viv X.
Early diagnosis is the key to treating most types of cancer, and men are the worst at getting themselves checked out. If your reading this post and over 50 (45 if your black), please make an appointment with your GP to get a PSA blood test to check your Prostate. This one simple act could save your life...

Raising awareness at the opening of our local library. Calling all men over 50 (45 if your high risk), have you had a blood test for Prostate Cancer yet?
It's actually starting to feel real now. My Prostate Cancer Support group will be starting in Thamesmead, London SE28, on the 5th April. For anyone who lives in and around the local area.
Please feel free to share this post with your friends.
Thank you.
This video was recorded before my prostate cancer operation in August 2022. I want it as a benchmark of my fitness level pre-operation. This will allow me to measure my progress back to fitness over the coming year.
In March 2023 I will be starting the 'Prostate Warriors' fitness and discussion sessions. These sessions will be free to men in the Thamesmead area who have had treatment for Prostate Cancer. Each session will consist of a 45 minute workout session followed by discussion/coffee time where participants can talk, share their experiences and support each other through their journey. I will be using all of my 25 years experience as a personal trainer, to help those who have been through treatment to get back to living a healthy and strong life (wont ask you to do these crazy exercises).
Throughout the course of the coming year (2023) we will be setting up a website and providing online resources to help men living outside of our local area. Just like our fitness sessions these resources will be offered free to all users. In addition to this we are planning to run 'Mens Health Awareness' presentations for groups and employers in and around the London area, more details will follow.
The project will be fast moving and we will develop our services dependant upon the needs of our Prostate Warriors. The best way to stay up to date with the developments, and follow our journey at the moment is to follow our Instagram pages below.

Thanks you for reading.
Was proper freeeezing this morning when I started training. Then the sun came out and it was glorious.
Just another day at the office peeps 🥊🥊
The last trip to my happy place in Spain was a time of true reflection, and I had a lot to think over.
Last year I retired from a 25 year career as a Personal Trainer. I have trained in boxing and martial arts all of my adult life and was looking forward to learning new skills in my 'free time'. However one week before my 59th birthday I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and informed that I would have to have my prostate removed. This was a massive shock for me and it took me a while to get my head around the new reality.
After the operation I felt battered, bruised and like I was living in someone else's body. This was just part of the process and I had to take time to heal, then learn how to repair and rebuild. I came to understand that patience is not one of my greatest virtues, but it is one that prostate cancer patients need to develop. Post-op can feel like a lonely place, but I was fortunate to have the great support of my family, and others who had already been through a similar experience. My wife and children nursed me back to health and made sure that I didn't try to do too much too soon (they know me well). However, I came to realise that not everyone has that kind of support and for many going through this process, the post-op period can be a very lonely and confusing place.
It was at this stage that I decided to setup a fitness and support group, to help men going through treatment. From March 2023, I will be running free sessions to help post-op patients get back to 'normal', and on the road to living a healthy strong life. The group will include a time and space for men to talk about their thoughts and feelings around their treatment. I will also be running prostate cancer/mens health awareness sessions in the South East London area, to help men speak up and get tested.
Watch this space....
Fitness has been a lifelong journey for me. I plan to keep going until the wheels fall off.
Don't let age be your cage people, live long and strong 💪🏾
As a 59 year old personal trainer with over 45 years training in boxing and Martial Arts. I would say that I have trained with almost every piece of training equipment you could ever imagine.
A few years ago I was lucky enough to start training with an ancient piece of equipment called a Gada, or mace. The mace has got to be one of the most interesting and effective pieces of equipment I have ever used. It allows you to work through 360 degrees on a wide variety of axis, whilst providing varying resistance depending of your grip and movement.
And on top of all that it's just so much fun 😀😀
Unleash your inner warrior..
Come down to Greenwich Park this Sunday and enjoy a FREE mace training session.
Mace Masters will be running fun and exciting training sessions every other Sunday during June and July (starting this week).
If your looking for an effective way to improve your fitness and well-being, then this is it..
I have been training in boxing and martial arts for nearly 45 years, and I have been a PT for over 25 years. During this time I have always searched for unique ways to live stronger for longer (nearly 60 now)
I was introduced to the ancient art of Mace Training a few years ago and little did I know, that it would have a massive impact on my future training.
This hand mace workout, on the beach, will improve your grip strength, core stability, shoulder mobility, upper body strength and motor skills (working on soft sand provides a great challenge).
On top of all that, these maces just look so damm cool 😎
I will be 60 next year, but I don't plan to be '60 years old'. Instead I'm training to be '60 years strong'...
Same number, just different choices.
A lovely testimonial from one of my clients. Mace training can change you forever. We're still running classes every Saturday at Hilly Fields, SE4, come and join the fun.

--------------------------------
Hi,
I'm Nadia and I started training with the mace about 10 months ago. I started doing sessions once a week with Rob, after a short while this progressed to twice a week. Then I bought my own mace and set myself the goal of training at least five times a week, using the techniques Rob had taught me.
Within weeks of training regularly with the mace, I noticed that my strength and stamina were improving at a quicker pace than anything I had tried before. For many years I had tried different diets and training programs but none of them had lasting results, the mace was different. It's challenging and interesting at the same time, you never get bored because there are always adjustments to be made which can change the effect of the movement. Unlike training at the gym you have freedom of movement and discover muscles you never knew you had.
Since I started training I have lost over 27kg, which is nearly 4 and a half stone. But more importantly than that, I feel energised and for the first time in many years my body has shape and I feel like I could take on anything that’s thrown at me. For me this is not just a way to lose weight anymore, but it’s a new way of life. One where I actually look forward to training, getting fitter, stronger and I am now ready to unleash the warrior woman that has been hidden inside for so long.
I'm so glad I discovered Mace training, now there's no going back.
As a 58 year old trainer, fitness is not what I do, it is what I am..
At the end of 2021 I had a bad case of COVID which threw me off course for quite a while. After eating my bodyweight in chocolate and Christmas cake. I finally got back on the horse and had a little night time training session last night.
Moral of the story "You either use it, or lose it."
The ancient art of mace training, taken to another level..
A bit of combined resistance for the boxing training. Hand maces for upper body. Resistance bands for the legs.
Killer workout 😬😬
At 58, this is the best lower back stretch in the world. If you got the bottle for it..😉
