HOW DOES LASER TREATMENT HELP WITH MELASMA?

The Pulsed dye laser treatment is designed to lighten red-coloured skin marks, such as port wine stains, birth-marks on your skin or facial thread veins. Oral Medication:
We may prescribe oral antibiotics as they are helpful for the inflammatory element of moderate or severe rosacea.
The most commonly used antibiotics belong to the tetracycline group.
The duration of an antibiotic course depends on your response. Your doctor may suggest that you use a topical and oral treatment together.

Creams and gels:
The inflammatory element of mild to moderate rosacea may be controlled with just a topical preparation (one that is applied to the skin).
Useful preparations include metronidazole and azelaic acid. They take time, at least 8 weeks, for their effect to become evident.

Avoid known triggers:
For example, avoiding drinks containing alcohol or caffeine

Mole Treatment at Cedars Dermatology

Moles are very common. They develop in the first few months and years of life and there are very few adults who have no moles at all. Most moles cause no problems. However, if you have a lot of moles (more than 40-50) then it makes sense to check your moles or to have them checked by a dermatologist on Harley Street to see if mole removal treatment is necessary.

The ABCDE method of identifying melanoma:

A is Asymmetry: Melanomas often have an irregular shape or asymmetrical appearance. If you were to draw a line through the middle of the mole, the two halves wouldn't match.

B is Border: The borders of a melanoma are typically uneven, ragged, or notched. They may appear blurred or have irregular edges, unlike benign moles that tend to have smooth, well-defined borders.

C is Colour: Melanomas usually display a variety of colours within the same lesion. Benign moles tend to be a single shade of brown.

D is Diameter: Melanomas are generally larger in size compared to common moles. Although there is no strict cutoff, melanomas are often larger than 6 millimetres but can be smaller.

E is Evolution: Any change in the appearance or behavior of a mole should raise concern. This includes changes in size, shape, color, elevation, or the development of symptoms like itching, bleeding, or crusting. Monitoring moles for changes over time is crucial.

As a guide, adults should aim to apply around 6 to 8 teaspoons of sunscreen if you're covering your entire body. If sunscreen is applied too thinly, the amount of protection it gives is reduced.

In normal, healthy skin, the outer layer contains cells which are formed in the deepest layers and then move up towards the surface, gradually changing as they go over 3 to 4 weeks, but in psoriasis, the rate of turnover is dramatically increased within the affected skin, so that cells are formed and shed in as little as 3 or 4 days.

PDT involves the use of a light-sensitive chemical (called a photosensitiser). This photosensitiser is, by itself, harmless. When light of a certain wavelength (usually red light) is shone onto skin to which the photosensitiser has been applied, the photosensitiser is activated. This causes changes in the oxygen molecules within the sun-damaged skin cells. These “excited” oxygen molecules kill the cells. Only the area of skin exposed to the light source will be affected and inflamed; after the inflammation clears it should be cured.

We don’t really know what causes rosacea. There are a number of theories. There is probably a genetic predisposition, although it doesn’t necessary run in families. It can be hormonally related. We know it’s an immune-related condition, as well.
