Gentle Birth Method

Wherever you choose to have your baby: at home, in hospital, or in water 'The Jeyarani Way' Gentle Birth Method can work for you.

Introducing the programme that can help you to have an enjoyable pregnancy, a gentle birth and a calm baby. The Gentle Birth Method is a pioneering programme making mother’s birth-fit and birthing manageable. The Gentle Birth Method was established by Dr Marie Gowri M***a in 1986. The mental preparation part of the Gentle Birth Method is equally as important as physical preparation. Gowri likes to say that she is 'a fierce protector of her mother's minds' as it is so important that the mother is mentally prepared for birth.

Gentle Birth Method is thinking of selling a card pack that has a positive / informing message for you to read on each day of your pregnancy that links with our Gentle Birth Method Hypnobirth 'The Gowri Way' programme (which is currently a LIVE zoom course). But we are also thinking of an app.

Please comment below what you think of this idea and if you would like cards, an app or both?

THE IMPORTANCE OF 'STRETCHING' DOWN BELOW FOR BIRTHING...

Gowri believes that va**nal stretching is very important for birthing as it reaches the parts deep muscle relaxation cannot sometimes reach. Among other benefits it increases the space in the va**na for the delivery, reduces second stage of labour, reduces va**nal and perineal tears and the risk of episiotomy and observing your body’s rapid response to va**nal stretching can increase your confidence in your ability to give birth. Overall, it helps you experience more comfort during birthing. Vaginal preparation should be performed at home daily.

To help you stretch we have put together 'THE FINAL STRETCH - 36 WEEKS TO FULL TERM KIT' (£40 saving than purchasing individually).

The kit contains:
- Gentle Birth Method Vaginal Oil and gauze rolls. Together with a self-stretching technique it prepares the va**nal tissues for birth.
- Gentle Birth Method Aromatherapy Anti-stretch Mark Oil (Dr Gowri’s Belly Oil) - Keeps skin elasticated and helps body and mind!
- Gentle Birth Method Re**al E***a Oil Kit (8 doses of 60ml oil, plus 8 administration sets). Ayurvedic technique to reduce oedema and sedate the pelvic tissues, making the second stage of labour more comfortable.
- Homeopathy - Caulophyllum 30c. To help soften and thin the cervix gently.
- Gentle Birth Method Energy Balls (28 balls). Specially formulated by an Ayurvedic doctor to support your immune system and boost energy. Nibble 1 or 2 a day
- 3 x MP3 downloads of the Gentle Birth Method Hypnobirth ‘The Gowri Way’ 'Prepare for a Natural Birth', 'Labour' for the day itself and Tone-up which helps you to tone your beautiful body after birth.

BUT ALSO we now sell the EPI-NO BALLOON a special device that you can use from 36 weeks for prebirth stretching (and also to help birthing muscles return to normal after birth), so you can stretch even more!

Yesterday was World Maternal Health Day.
This day draws attention to essential mental health concerns for mothers and families. Life changes around pregnancy make women more vulnerable to mental illness, which may also directly affect her foetus or child, with long-lasting physical, cognitive and emotional outcomes. Mental health care provides the necessary support to empower women to identify resources and personal capabilities. This can enhance their resilience to difficult life circumstances and support them to nurture their children optimally. Caring for mothers is a positive intervention for long-term social development.

Here at Gentle Birth Method mental support is just as important as providing physical support for fertility, pregnancy and postnatally.
Our Gentle Birth Method Hypnobirth 'The Gowri Way' has been developed by Gowri who is known to be a fierce protector of her mother's minds and has developed this part of the programme over many years.

Please see our website www.gentlebirthmethod.com for more details on our support mentally for mothers and go to our shop to get MP3 downloads or CDs.

For all the twins mums out there - you rock!

Never tell me that I can't do it.
To me, that danced with three hearts.
And breathed with six lungs.
To me, who painted the walls of a home.
What I wore in my belly was the wonder of three worlds.
That I hugged to sadness without fear.
And I cried smiles.
And I laughed bleeding.
Don't tell me that I am not capable of something.
Because I am going to continue dancing, painting and building this universe over and over again, until I achieve it.
Standing tall, with both hands full of life, and with the sun in my heart, forward.
It is my only way.

From Heart Prints:
“When pregnant, the cells of the baby migrate into the mothers bloodstream and then circle back into the baby, it’s called “fetal-maternal microchimerism”.
For 41 weeks, the cells circulate and merge backwards and forwards, and after the baby is born, many of these cells stay in the mother’s body, leaving a permanent imprint in the mothers tissues, bones, brain, and skin, and often stay there for decades. Every single child a mother has afterwards will leave a similar imprint on her body, too.
Even if a pregnancy doesn't go to full term or if you have an abortion, these cells still migrate into your bloodstream.
Research has shown that if a mother's heart is injured, fetal cells will rush to the site of the injury and change into different types of cells that specialize in mending the heart.
The baby helps repair the mother, while the mother builds the baby.
How cool is that?
This is often why certain illnesses vanish while pregnant.
It’s incredible how mothers bodies protect the baby at all costs, and the baby protects & rebuilds the mother back - so that the baby can develop safely and survive.
Think about crazy cravings for a moment. What was the mother deficient in that the baby made them crave?
Studies have also shown cells from a fetus in a mothers brain 18 years after she gave birth. How amazing is that?”
If you’re a mom you know how you can intuitively feel your child even when they are not there….Well, now there is scientific proof that moms carry them for years and years even after they have given birth to them.
I find this to be so very beautiful.

What Are We Feeding Our Kids? 13/07/2021

Why are GBM Pregnancy Dietary Guidelines an essential part of the programme?
- To eliminate bloating and 'puffiness', especially in the birthing area
- To ensure that the mother and baby receives all the nutrients that they need in the amount needed (it is not necessary to 'eat for two'!)
- AND because what you eat has a huge impact on your gut microbes, which in turn effects the whole of your body AND the health of your baby (your gut microbes are passed on to your baby). For more on this read: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/jul/11/unlocking-the-gut-microbiome-and-its-massive-significance-to-our-health
- AND if you are interested in the effect that ultra-processed foods (anything that has ingredients in it you don't recognise and/or has been mass produced) have on our body's and brain take a look at the fantastic programme https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000wgcd/what-are-we-feeding-our-kids
The podcast below follows up the programme as Dr Xand tries to stop eating ultra-processed food with his twin brother:

What Are We Feeding Our Kids? Is ultra-processed food causing obesity in children, and could it even be addictive?

Your thoughts are like bubbles that surround your head (around the third eye) like a halo.

If you are going to have thoughts why not make them positive?

Imagine the beauty and majesty of your positive halo around you.

You are amazing.

Dr Gowri M***a established the Gentle Birth Method 15 years ago during this time she has helped mothers to become 'birth-fit' and confident in their body.

Remember to breathe in confidence and exhale fear.

08/06/2021

A wonderful birth story by a first time mother who used The Gentle Birth Method Book, our live online GBM Hypnobirthing and Pregnancy Yoga classes, and other products.

'While it was difficult to arrange treatments during lockdown, my partner kindly gave me Gowri’s recommended weekly massages, which helped him feel involved in my birth training and offered an opportunity to connect with me and the baby. We also attended Gowri’s online hypnobirthing classes and I listened to her pre-recorded hypnobirthing tracks several times a week in order to instil a sense of confidence in my body and prepare myself mentally. I also worked on my one minute birth rehearsal where I pictured my ideal birth from start to finish. On the physical side, I attended the weekly online yoga and hypnobirthing classes with the lovely Ingrid, as well as doing my daily waking and pregnancy yoga. When lockdown eased, I resumed swimming twice a week, which created a sense of lightness in my body. As recommended by Gowri, every day from 38 weeks onwards I visualised my cervix getting thinner and I asked my baby to move down every day in preparation for birth. Then at 39 weeks on Monday 31 May my surges started but I felt calm during this time and, as advised by Gowri in her birth rehearsal track, I tried to rest as well as doing the ‘funny walks’, eating lots of good food and watching comedies with my partner. As I was having a home birth, we decided to call the midwife at about 11pm and our son was born at 2.22am with only the birthing pool, a TENS machine and rescue remedy as pain relief! I used Gowri’s mantra of ‘my birthing passages are like jelly’ to help me soften and let go of any fear associated with delivering my baby. The entire birth experience was hard work which required so much physical and mental strength but in between surges I kept going to my ‘safe place’, focusing on my breath and being in my zone. As a result, our baby was born gently, calmly and happily. He is already a very content baby and I attribute that to Gowri’s thoughtful programme for a gentle birth.

So far, my postnatal period has been as good as it possibly can be due to all my preparation in advance of the birth. I am also following Gowri’s Gentle First Year programme, drinking the anti-postnatal depression and lactation teas, listening to the post natal visualisation daily and trying to nourish myself as best as I can.

I cannot thank Gowri and her entire team enough for their insights, words of wisdom and ongoing support.'

We hope that you are having a gentle start to the week.
