Vinyl & CD Edition launch: INFINITE RESOURCES, 𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘙 𝘉𝘈𝘓𝘓𝘈𝘋 (2023)
𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘙 𝘉𝘈𝘓𝘓𝘈𝘋 (2023) is a sound piece written, performed and produced by Nikita Gale , released under INFINITE RESOURCES . It opens with a dialogue between Gale and an optometrist ahead of a field of vision test the artist undergoes in treatment for astigmatism. During these tests, clicks are used to indicate when the patient registers movement in their peripheral vision, tracking the visual acuity of each eye. The clicking sounds recorded by Gale structure the tempo of the piece like an arhythmic metronome. Performing on top of the field recording, Gale composed the piece on a synthesiser, gradually building up the instrumentation and abstracting it from its medical context. Each side of the vinyl record – A and B, RIGHT and LEFT – corresponds to the eye that was being tested in the underlying field recording.
𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘙 𝘉𝘈𝘓𝘓𝘈𝘋 includes a new text written by Gale, accompanying the vinyl record as a special fold-out poster print and available with the CD edition in the booklet.
Special edition: 12” vinyl + CD (Edition of 10 + 5 APs) £250
CD (Edition of 40) £30

Emalin is pleased to present new paintings and videos by Karol Palczak (b. 1987 in Przemyśl, Poland). It follows the artist’s first exhibition with the gallery earlier this year.
Karol Palczak’s project is a technically focused observation of the environment as a vessel for spiritual survival. As in the tradition of 19th century realist painting, the social context imbues the landscape with a sense of transience and anxiety: the impact of economy and technical detritus on nature and its people rendered emotive.

Last day of Frieze London!
Find us at D17 until 6 PM with a group presentation of works by Evgeny Antufiev, Alvaro Barrington, Adriano Costa and Sung Tieu.
Interested in formalism, Adriano Costa (b. 1975, São Paulo, Brazil; lives and works in São Paulo) exposes the inherent ‘back-end’ of objects through humour and a sensitivity to material, space and shape. In 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘴, Costa makes analogies between the sleekness of 20th century North American Minimalism, and the social architectures from the slums of São Paulo and the palafitas of Northern Brazil. The materials place these references alongside the specific histories of art that bred from it: the legacies of Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Clark, or Lygia Pape.
