💥 JOIN BOSLEY TUG OF WAR IN 2024 💥

We are looking to grow the team by taking on new recruits!

We compete on The Tug of War Association - England circuit and we are aiming to compete at most local and national competitions this year as well as take a team to compete at the World Championships in Germany in September to take part in the club competition which is a fantastic opportunity to experience an international sporting competition, and being involved in a team sport is otherwise a great opportunity to have a good social, meet new people and make lifelong friends!

In addition, trials are held by the Tug of War Association throughout the year for young people to put themselves forward to represent England at the world junior and under 23 championships, so you never know, you could be a future England puller!

We train together on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and everyone is welcome to come along and have a go.

We are based in the Congleton area and we are always open to new members and are actively recruiting so if you want to find out more or join us, or if you have any teenagers, siblings or relatives that might be interested in competing with us, or if you have done young farmers TOW before and want to step up to take part in more national and even international competitions then you are very welcome to join us too! Over the past couple of years, we have had a ladies team, and we are looking to grow the team by taking on new recruits!

💥 JOIN BOSLEY JUNIOR TUG OF WAR IN 2024 💥

This year we hope to field junior teams in The Tug of War Association - England competitions and we are looking for new recruits!

Age limits for juniors are as follows:
🟢 junior - from the beginning of the year you turn 14 to the end of the year you turn 18

Teams are 8 a side, with junior men, junior ladies and junior mixed (4 male and 4 female competitors) weight classes are held at most competitions

We are aiming to compete at most local and national competitions this year as well as take a junior team to compete at the GENSB junior international in August, which is taking place fairly locally at Keele University in Staffordshire, which is a fantastic opportunity for young people to experience an international sporting competition, have a good social, meet new people and make lifelong friends!

In addition, trials are held by the Tug of War Association throughout the year for juniors to put themselves forward to represent England at the world junior championships, so you never know, you could be a future England puller!

We train together on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and everyone (male and female) is welcome to come along and have a go.

At the British and Irish indoor tug of war Championships in Scotland today coming away with a bronze medal in the ladies competition. A national mixed gold medal and a B&I bronze medal in your first indoor season is a great achievement. Enjoy the celebrations!

Bosley tug of war club are sad to announce the passing of former Bosley puller Alec Johnson, a former successful puller for our club.

On Saturday 6 January we will be holding our club AGM and sign up night for 2024. Everyone welcome including members old and new. AGM venue - the Park Tavern in Macclesfield.

This year we hope to have full senior mens and ladies and junior sections, age categories as follows:
🟢 junior - from the beginning of the year you turn 14 to the end of the year you turn 18
🟢 under 23 - from the beginning of the year you turn 16 to the end of the year you turn 22
🟢 senior - 15+

We are aiming to compete at most local and national competitions this year as well as championships and international events as follows
🟢 national championships in June (men, ladies, senior and junior)
🟢 AAA and inter county championships
🟢 GENSB junior international in August at Keele University
🟢 world open club championships in Germany in September
🟢 AAA indoor championships in November
🟢 national indoor championships in December

Depending on results at the nationals there may be an opportunity to represent England at the British and Irish Championships and world championships too and there may also be opportunities for junior and under 23 pullers to represent England at those levels too, subject to attending trials throughout the season!

Tonight, we are back at training for 2024 from 7.30pm.

2023 was another year of progress seeing us pick up a number of new recruits and also come away with some national medals to boot on the indoor and outdoor tug of war circuit! In particular, it was fantastic to see a number of our youngsters being selected for the England junior and under 23 teams, with some going on to win medals at the World Championships!

We look forward to seeing everyone back out on the rope during 2024, and if you want to get involved in the sport of tug of war with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch - we are always looking for new members (male and female), so if you want to take up a team sport with a friendly and welcoming team, then please get in touch with us.
