The S Show of Becoming a Clinical Psychologist
Want to become a Clinical Psychologist? But finding it hard? This book is definitely the one for you
Starting the interview process
Interviews?! One of the principles to guide you in my book β€
Anyone looking for thoughts or ideas for interviews, join me on Thursday morning or DM me
For those of you who applied for the clinical psychology doctorate, you'll be starting to think about preparing for interviews (and fingers crossed you get one!)
I would advise that you get into the headspace of what it would be like to be invited for an interview, and how you would go about preparing for it. This can help strengthen how you present yourself, your skill set and your confidence
Applying to the clinical doctorate course can be extremely stressful given the level of pressure you're under. Seriously, be sure to look after your emotional wellbeing in the process - nothing is worth sacrificing your sanity
Form time. Many of you have submitted. Good luck to all of you!
For those of you applying to the clinical psychology doctorate course this year, you might want to seek support from a professional standpoint. Whether that be your supervisor, another clinician, or an external mentor, professional support is extremely important and valuable. They are likely to guide and shape you in order to get the best out of you. That's why we have supervision and all successful people have mentors. Good luck!
Writing your DClinPsy form?
Stand out by being genuine, rather than copying what other people are writing
Anyone who is applying for the Clinical Doctorate this year - this chapter is dedicated to the application process!
This is my bit of self-care.
Ps self-care isn't always about meditating at the top of a mountain. For me, it varies each time. Sometimes it's about having time to yourelf. Sometimes it's about having your favourite cake. Other times, it might be having a glass (or bottleπ) of wine and that's ok!
I do miss the gym though π©
Please read and share! I'm all about doing what's best for you, because let's face it - if your physical and mental health is struggling, everything else will collapse. Look after your foundation in order to build and grow
β€ hope you feel this
If you treat life thus far as "research & development", you gain a sense of permission to start over

The never ending cycle of self-criticism and anxiety
Hello πββοΈ
I would like to introduce myself after attempting to hide who I am for a while. I'm Sarah and I'm a Clinical Psychologist.
A few of you in this Facebook group will know who I am anyway, so hello again! For those of you who don't know me, hello. it's nice to meet you!
I know for a while I didn't disclose who I was because I was concerned of any comebacks I might get following writing this book: The Sh*t Show of Becoming a Clinical Psychologist. And frankly it was because I am brutally honest throughout the book about all the hardships around becoming a Clinical Psychologist. I talk a lot about how the system is generally unfair, that there are inherent problems at every level, and the way that you are treated as an individual, a student, and a professional can sometimes be awful. Ultimately, this can significantly impact your wellbeing and mental health - even when you are actually attempting to get into a profession of helping others (ironic I know).
For me, I know getting into this profession definitely impacted my mental health and wellbeing and I have witnessed others struggle as well. Not only can it affect us in the short term (e.g. getting anxious and upset due to an instance of failure), but also long term whereby we internalise some of the horrendous messages we have had and we end up speaking to ourselves in that manner (e.g. "you're not good enough").
I did this book to help people consider how they can get into the profession in a healthy way, overcome obstacles and succeed, and most importantly: succeed in a way that is protects your mental and physical wellbeing.
I hid myself for a while because of the potential backlash I might get. However, I am disclosing myself now for a few reasons.
1. I got quite a few 'hate messages' stating I'm conning people because they don't believe I'm actually a Clinical Psychologist (I presume that's because no other Clinical Psychologist publicly talks about how horrendous elements of the profession can be, taking a personal risk as to how they are then viewed).
2. I have a few of you guys messaging me / who have met me for support around developing your career so by that very nature I have disclosed who I am anyway.
3. I don't care! Nothing will change if it is not publicly challenged so.. here I am!
I hope to become more active in the group as time goes on. But for now I am open to providing private supervision / support if anyone is interested.
From me and baby Mila, signing out x

You are allowed to outgrow what no longer fits you
This has come out today and thought it's worth sharing on here. Adding another challenge to what is already challenging!
We all know becoming a clinical psychologist is crazy competitive and challenging. People do anything and everything to build their experience and repertoire as well as their chances to become a clinical psychologist.
This new change means that people who are considering other avenues as a step to becoming a clinical psychologist may have to wait longer to pursue this career path.
Obstacles... perhaps the key is considering how to make such stumbling blocks into stepping stones
This is definitely for me today! And it goes the same for any of you guys who are stuck in a tenancy to only feel OK if you've worked extremely hard to achieve something
I know I've been bad at posting a lot here especially in the past few weeks. I've just had this person walk into my life β€β€β€
Sending love to all of you β€
Bit of self-care needed β€
Be present now, otherwise you'll miss life
Please take on board this message. Look after yourself well and truly
Let go of what you don't need to carry. You can say no thank you to the things that do not serve you
To whoever needs this
How is your mental health? Check in and take ll what you need
What do you do in moments of struggle? I usually exercise, I have it as time for me - away from my phone and any other responsibilities (harder during pregnancy π©)
Anyone?
I hope you are filled with so much happiness, it helps every part of you
I'm applauding everyone who is willing to show their vulnerability in the aim to preserve and serve themselves β€

A bit of a random share given the page, but a little glimpse into a day of mine... sat in a restaurant and sadly this little bird, who I decided to name Frankie, flew into the window and hit the floor π after some tender, love and care, this little beauty flew back to its home β€β€β€
All we need is compassion and care when we get knocked down. Frankie even demonstrated that very important point to us.
P.S. I love animals π₯°
