Daily cold showers have so many benefits ⬇️
💧 Reduce Inflammation: cold temps make your blood vessels tighten up. When that happens, blood moves to your body’s core and vital organs. The blood naturally becomes oxygen- and nutrient-rich during the process. As your body heats up again, the blood vessels expand, bringing that oxygenated blood back to your tissues. As it flows back, it helps to flush out inflammation .
💧 Reduce Muscle Soreness: inflammation is the cause of muscle soreness, so by reducing inflammation we then reduce potential for soreness.
💧 Improve Circulation: cold water strains your body — it goes into “survival mode,” working hard to maintain its core temperature. This stimulates your body to increase blood flow circulation. Increasing circulation redistributes blood and delivers freshly oxygenated blood to areas of the body that need to recover. Over time, your circulatory system may become more efficient and move blood through the body more quickly — helpful for anyone with high blood pressure or diabetes.
💧 Lower Stress Levels: a burst of cold water surprisingly alerts your brain to release endorphins. Some people report huge reduction in stress levels, as well as reduction in symptoms of anxiety & depression.
💧 Reduce Fatigue: many people report feeling much more energised and awake after cold showers. This is why many people choose to start their day with a cold shower, to get them ready for their day.
Have you tried it out?
Will this fix your lower back pain?⬇️
The answer is that it probably wont fix anything alone, but in conjunction with the right type of exercise, core strengthening can help some patients tackle their back pain.
It's important to consider which exercises you are doing, as we don't want to put any strain on the muscles that are already inflamed.

Dr Stephen Sandler concluded that fluctuating levels of oestrogen and relaxin can weaken muscles and ligaments, increasing the risk of problems 👀
He claims that hormone levels and the laxity of joints are linked.
It's so important for women to understand their hormone cycle so diet and exercise routines can be adjusted accordingly.

One of the most common problems! 🦶

We all this reminder daily 🙏
One of the biggest benefits to Osteopathy is not only the physical adjustments, but the mental knowledge that you are taking time to focus on your body and do something to better yourself.
Some people can find this really difficult, even practitioners themselves! So it's really important for us to take time to check in with our clients 🫶🏻
Osteopathy can be a game changer during pregnancy🤰
As your body adjusts to growing your baby and carrying that added weight around, pressures begin to land on different places.
Even seating and walking positions change as you get used to your new body type, so it's super important to give the body the assistance it needs to start relaxing into its new form.

Overuse injuries are sports-related microtraumas that result from repetitively using the same parts of the body, usually by overtraining.
A microtrauma is a small injury to a bone, muscle, tendon, or ligament.
If you are struggling with an injury, get in touch! 👀
Drinking enough water each day is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly.
Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood.
Are you drinking enough water daily? 👀
Ice baths may reduce inflammation, boost your mood, or relieve pain after a workout 👀
The general consensus from the literature is that the ideal length of an ice bath is 11-15 minutes. This maximizes the cryotherapy benefits of cold water immersion without inducing excessive stress or putting tissues at risk of frostbite or the body at risk of hypothermia.
Would you try an ice bath? 🧊
Sometimes we get so caught up in everyday life and we forget to take a moment for ourselves.
Listen to your body, allow yourself to take a break and rest! 😴

Why choosing the right weight matters 🏋️
One obvious reason that weight lifting form is important is that poor form can lead to injury, including strains, sprains, tears, and breakages of muscles, ligaments, bones, and joints. Without a doubt, lifting lighter weights with proper form is always better than lifting heavier weights with poor form.
Baby cranial osteopathy is a safe, non-invasive therapy that has been used to improve the health and well-being of babies for many years.
With gentle and appropriate techniques, I will re-balance the baby's tensions by working on the whole body (skull, spine, abdomen, pelvis, lower and upper limbs.)

A good sleeping position along with a good quality of sleep throughout the night relaxes the spine and muscles. Sleep is needed not just for relaxation but also for mental and physical recovery. We all have a favorite position while sleeping which we naturally fall into every night 😴
A proper sleep position can relieve stress on your spine, while an unhealthy position can increase pain or stiffness in the back, arms, or shoulders, all while contributing to lower-quality sleep 🛌
You may experience some side effects such as mild soreness in the treatment area and fatigue after an osteopathy session.
Nevertheless, these are short-term side effects that are not a cause for concern. If side effects persist, do not hesitate to reach out and we can chat about any problems you are dealing with!

Osteopathic treatment addresses every step of healing ⬇️
Stage 1: Inflammation
👤Your body will initiate healing immediately after injury. You may notice redness, swelling, and warmth.
✨In this stage we focus on accurate diagnosis and hands-on treatment to help alleviate pain during the initial phases of injury.
Stage 2: Proliferation
👤Inflammation starts to settle and your immune system begins to repair the damaged tissue by laying down collagen.
✨In this stage we focus on accurate diagnosis and hands-on osteopathic treatment to help alleviate pain
during the initial phases of injury.
➡️Note: there's a high risk of re-injury in this stage.
Stage 3: Remodelling
👤Repaired tissue begins to improve in quality and strength. This phase may take several weeks, months or on occasion, some years
✨At this point we focus on improving range of motion and rehabilitation to get you back to full health.

Sports nutrition enhances athletic performance by decreasing fatigue and the risk of disease and injury; it also enables athletes to optimize training and recover faster 👀
A well-planned, nutritious diet should meet most of an athlete's vitamin and mineral needs, and provide enough protein to promote muscle growth and repair 💪
Osteopaths are known to stereotypically crack your back to release the pain, however this is not the case, we crack backs when needed but in our appointment we are just trying to help relieve your pain.
Fluid known as synovial fluid sits within the joint capsule and its role is to lubricate the joint so that the facet joints can move smoothly without getting stuck on each other. During an osteopathic manipulation, it is the movement of these facet joints that causes the audible 'pop' or 'crack' you can hear 👀

Physical activity causes the body to release endorphins. It is that chemical in the brain which relieves pain and stress. The levels of stress hormones, cortisol, and adrenaline are also reduced.
Sports are a great way to get your body moving and get your blood pumping around your body. By releasing endorphins sports are an amazing way to improve your mental health ✨

Fibromyalgia is diagnosed more among women than men, and around 5% of the general population may have the condition. Symptoms generally appear between the ages of 30 and 50 ⬇️
Although the causes of fibromyalgia are multifactorial, symptoms can be initiated by a trigger. This is usually a physically or emotionally traumatic event, such as an illness or bereavement. A viral trigger can cause conditions with similar features, such as ME, CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), and Long Covid.
The symptoms of Fibromyalgia:
Chronic muscle aches
Fatigue

Why stretching after your workout is vital
🙆♀️ Cool Down - Stretching cools down the body slowly and returns the body to its resting state without shock
🙆♀️ Lactic Acid - Lactic Acid builds up during exercise and stretching can reduce this accumulation, ultimately reducing aches and pains
🙆♀️ Reducing Injury - Stretching will minimise pain and reduces the risk of injury
🙆♀️ Know your body - Centre your mind and understand your body's post workout needs
HOWEVER it is equally important not to push your body too far - injury can still happen!
That's where we come in 👀
