Do you listen to hypnotherapy tracks when you go to bed?
If you do, they won't give you the benefits you are looking for!
Why? Well, the reason is because when you fall asleep, you are no longer in a state of hypnosis. Therefore, anything that you listen to after falling asleep is not reaching the subconscious level. Remember - the subconscious level is a point between being fully conscious and being asleep. Think of when you stare off into the distance, daydreaming, or staring into the flames of a log fire. You are not asleep, though maybe not fully aware of people around you for that moment.
When you're in this 'distant' state, you can still hear and listen, though whether you actually pay attention is another matter 😉 but a hypnotherapist is able to talk to your subconscious mind when you are in this distant state. You are not asleep, and are able to take on positive suggestions to change unwanted feelings or behaviours that your normally busy and critical conscious state interrupts.
Once you are asleep, you have gone beyond this subconscious level. Although the hypnotherapy track is likely to help you relax enough to fall asleep, anything contained in that track won't be heard or acknowledged, simply because you have gone beyond the subconscious level.
Many years ago, I bought a hypnotherapy tape to stop smoking, which was created by a very popular UK hypnotherapist at the time. I made the mistake of listening to it in bed, because the instructions said to ensure you wouldn't be disturbed. As a mother of a toddler at the time, bedtime was the best time to listen to it, as it was unlikely that I'd be disturbed by my child. Needless to say, I fell asleep, had the best sleep I'd ever had in my life, but it didn't help me stop smoking! As a result, I didn't have much faith in hypnotherapy for a very long time afterwards!
If I'd known it wasn't going to work if I fell asleep, I'd have tried it when my child was at nursery, or I'd have asked a family member to take him for a few hours. But back then (I sound so old!), there were very few details about the best times or the worst times to listen to hypnotherapy tracks.
So, when is the best time? Probably not when you've just woken up either! You're more likely to fall back asleep, unless you are someone who really does function very well when you've just woken up. Only you will know when is the best time. But always avoid listening to hypnotherapy tracks when you are tired, definitely do not listen if you are driving or working.
Always pick a time when you feel ready and have enough time to listen to the full track. Make sure you are comfortable, preferably sitting upright in a comfortable chair. Ensure your own safety by checking doors etc are locked. Switch off all appliances, electronic devices, and especially items like Alexa! You want to make sure you won't be disturbed. Once you have done all this, get comfortable and if you can, listen to your hypnotherapy recording through headphones.
By ensuring you select the optimum time and following the above instructions, you can enjoy your hypnotherapy recording to it's full benefits. You are more likely to feel the benefits of the recording and it is more likely to work. If your hypnotherapist has asked you to listen to your track weekly or every day - follow those instructions! Failure to do so is only going to ensure your own failure!
I hope this advice helps! As with anything, if you don't follow instructions properly, you will never get the results you expect. So please, do not set yourself up to fail 😊
What a great quote!
How often have we stayed angry at someone or something, only to look back and wonder why we let it affect us so much? Far too long for many of us.
Let's all start adopting the 5 minute rule and stop wasting valuable emotions on things that won't matter in a few days or weeks etc!
Such an understatement!
Sometimes we don't see the progress because the steps are small. Just remember: slow and steady wins the race! (Unless you're an athlete in the 100m sprint! 😉 )
Cold and frosty here in Nottinghamshire today, but we have had some sunshine!
What's it like where you are?
Don't forget to book your place on the Shape Shifters Programme which starts on 5th February.
Here’s an interesting question: Do you ever feel like you’ve ‘been here before’ or get a sense of Déjá vu?
Many people have felt the latter. Déjá vu is French for “already seen”, where your brain knows you haven’t done or seen something before, but it eerily feels like you have.
Many people believe that we all have past lives, lived perhaps hundreds of years ago. Others refute past lives because there is no scientific way to prove that we have lived before, and without concrete scientific evidence, they won’t believe in past lives.
But consider this; we can prove, through genetics and DNA that many illnesses and conditions, as well as family traits, can be traced back several generations. Sometimes, these hereditary or genetic phenomena skip generations. So can we say the same about our neural genetic pathways?
The brain and it’s functions are far from being completely understood. Technology has enabled us to better understand many aspects of how the brain works and what can affect it. Science can teach us about neurological pathways, and that we can create some new ones over time, as well as reinforcing the ones we already have.
So, if our brain development is also created (to some extent) in the same ways as our genes and DNA are, surely it would make sense that there’s a possibility that elements of our ancestors memories will be passed on too, just as our chances of inheriting illnesses and conditions are?
Now, I’m no neurologist or scientific expert, just curious about what peoples thoughts are on such things, so thought I’d throw it out there and see what you all think. I don’t want scientific experts or neurological experts coming for me!
Let me know in the comments what you think about past lives. Do you believe we have lived before? Or have you had a session of past life regression? If you have, who were you in a past life? I haven’t had a session myself, but I have watched fellow students being regressed when I was doing my clinical hypnotherapy training, and it was absolutely fascinating! Or, maybe you’d like a session? Let me know below 👇
If you have set goals, or New Year resolutions, how are they going?
Remember to set small and achievable targets to avoid losing faith in your ability to reach the ultimate big goal.
And don't forget to reward yourself for every small success along the way!
Even taking an hour away from your normal routine can feel like a reward. Going for a little walk if you're able to. Having a long soak in your favourite bubble bath or bath salts. Or meeting up with someone for a coffee. These may not seem like a reward, but they are to many.
If you're struggling to reach those smaller targets, ask others to join in with you, or have a chat with someone who has reached a similar target and find out how they achieved it.
Always reward yourself - nobody else will. Without that little reward, setting goals sometimes feels boring or not worth it. Make it worth it!
Do you love yourself?
Many of us will say absolutely not. Most, if not all, of us have something about ourselves that we don't like.
It could be something visible, such as a scar, or small lips, or having bunions like me!
Or, it could be something invisible, perhaps having a lack of confidence, feeling we aren't worthy or enough.
Why do we feel these ways? Have we learnt these negative emotions from others? Have we grown up learning that certain looks are aspirational?
A lot of the time, the answer is yes! Look around social media and notice who influences us or our children. How many posts encourage us to be our unique selves? Not many! And those who do post as the 'real' them are generally ridiculed.
Yesterday, I saw both on TV and on social media, a story about a young woman who had won a pageant for plus-size women. On TV, the report was positive and congratulating the young woman on her achievement. However, on social media, the post was full of comments making fun of her, purely because of her size. And this is why we all end up with unrealistic expectations of what we 'should' be.
The truth is......we should be OURSELVES! Thin, plus-size, tall, short, freckles, scars, bunions and corns.....it's who we are, and we should be proud of ourselves.
My hair is grey. Do I care? No! I love not having to worry about keeping the roots topped up (and saving money!). I love that, at least for a while, people actually paid to have hair my colour!
I have stretch marks. Do I worry? No! They are a sign of the lives I created and nurtured.
I have wrinkles. Do I get upset? No! They are a sign of a life I live; laughter lines, frown lines and worry lines: they are all a part of who I am.
Instead of trying to change your identity, try looking at yourself from another perspective. You cannot tell a story by showing a blank page! The true you contains a unique story. Learn to look at those 'flaws' as symbols of beauty and the story of your life.
By learning to love the real you, your confidence will increase. Give it a try! Look for the positive in what you have always seen as a negative.
Diets 🤨
Love them or hate them, we've all tried a diet of some sort.
But how good, or bad, are they really?
5:2 diets - you basically 'fast' for any 2 days out of 7. I personally know a lot of people who have followed this dieting method. And yes, they did get good results, while they stayed on it! But 'fasting' diets aren't all that good for you. On a fasting day, women eat only 500 calories, while men eat only 600 calories. Sticking to such a low calorie limit doesn't allow for much food throughout the day and you will likely be eliminating food groups to fit in with the strict calories. On fasting days you may feel tired, have a lower attention span and energy levels. If you are in a fast-paced job, or do shift work, then this is not always going to be the best diet for you. Additionally, if you have a pre-existing health condition, such as diabetes, you need to be very carefully that your sugar levels don't run too low.
The Keto Diet/Atkins diet: again, I know a lot of people who have lost weight on these diets. Much of this may be due to cutting out 'processed' foods, which is never a bad thing! But - Giving up whole grains, beans, fruits and many veggies can cause nutrient deficiencies and constipation. Common short-term side effects include fatigue, headache, brain fog and upset stomach, aka "Keto flu." Long-term health risks include kidney stones, osteoporosis and liver disease.
Juicing diets - There are a couple of version of this diet. One is where you drink only juice, while another allows a restricted amount of solid foods as well. As with many other diets, calorie counting is the main theme within this type of diet. Having such a low calorie intake, particularly for an extended length of time, is going to really slow down your metabolism. Additionally, Juice diets are also likely to lead to nutrient deficiencies in the long term, as juices lack many important nutrients.
Slimming clubs: These tend to be calorie focused, with weighing food, counting calories, weekly weight monitoring, searching for 'free foods' and avoiding 'syn' foods. There are a lot of slimming clubs available, most being advertised several times a day on TV and social media. Again, these diets often do work - but only while you're following that diet plan. Again, I know many people who join these slimming clubs and then get 'stuck' at a certain weight, come off the diet plan, and put all that lost weight back on, and a bit more! Additionally, these clubs can cost a lot of money over the year, between the weekly or monthly subscriptions, to the purchasing of special shakes or pre-prepared meals.
So, what is the answer? Well, instead of having daily battles with yourself and your food, stop dieting! Rather than being a prisoner to the restrictions placed on you by a diet plan, start to enjoy your food. Eat when you are hungry. Eat things you actually like. Drink more ice cold water. Learn to love your food relationship instead of despising it!
Do you want to actually lose weight? Or do you want to change your shape? You can actually do both! How about changing your shape without stepping on those pesky scales?
Want to know more? Get in touch today for a FREE discussion about our 'Shape-Shifter' Programme. No dieting required! Just a real determination to fit into clothes you'd like to wear, have curves you'd like to show off, or get prepared for a big event or holiday. The bonus.....it is a FOUR week programme. Once a week, over 4 weeks, you will have a hypnotherapy session in a small online private group, along with support, an additional MP3 recording for you to listen to on your own, and much more.
Don't wait too long! The first session will be held on 5th February 2023, and it is heavily discounted until 4th February 2023. So pop a message today to find out more ☺️
Are you a 'Shape-Shifter'?
Would you like to be?
Crocus Hypnosis is pleased to be able to offer a 4 week weight loss programme beginning 5th February 2023.
This is a small private group of like-minded people who are fed up following traditional diets and standard weight loss fads.
Rather than focusing on losing weight, you will focus on your shape and size. By changing how you perceive food and being at battle with it, you will learn how to love food again in a way that actually helps reduce your dress size.
You will feel happier, healthier and have a better bank balance! You won't need to worry about going to a slimming club and stepping on those scales - we actually BAN weighing scales in this programme! There is one cost only for the 4 week Shape-Shifter programme, not a weekly, monthly or annual amount.
You will be free from having to follow a diet plan again. And free from veering off a diet plan, putting the lost weigh PLUS more back on, and starting the unhappy-go-round again!
The cost of the Shape-Shifter 4 week programme is only £150 per person! If that sounds a bit expensive, just work out how much money you would spend going to a traditional diet group, how much the diet foods cost you, and if you buy those 'healthy eating' food box plans, the cost is a lot, lot more! Additionally, this 4 week programme is usually £350+ (depending on area and therapist) when doing it one-to-one!! So you are already saving at least £200 by joining our private member group!
For a one-off cost of £150 you will get:
- Ongoing support from myself and other Shape-Shifter members within the private group
- A session of hypnotherapy designed to help re-programme your eating habits and perception of food
- An MP3 recording each week to enhance the hypnotherapy provided
- A free 'booster' session of hypnotherapy as a follow-up
The option to purchase additional treatments, including the 'virtual gastric band' (only available to those with a BMI of 30 or more)
- and much more!
If you, or your friends, would like to know more, please send a message. I will then arrange a FREE consultation with you to discuss the programme in more detail. And please, don't forget to: like, comment and share this amazing offer!
There will be a lot of us having a bad day today if it's our first day back to work after the festive break!
But what makes a bad day a bad day?
Tiredness is one definite cause for me. If I've had a really rubbish sleep, I'll likely be grumpy all day because I'm tired. Luckily, I can resolve that issue by setting myself some good sleeping habits. (Or have a lie in or go back to bed if I'm not working 😉)
Too much stress in work. What's causing the stress? Feeling overwhelmed with an unrealistic workload or impossible targets will give anyone a bad day. If the workload or targets being set are not achievable, or beyond your expertise, tell someone who is in charge of distributing the workloads or targets. If that person is also unrealistic in their employees capabilites, it might be time to find a new job!
Making mistakes or losing sales at work. What causes this? Now, I'm not a salesperson by career, though have been a retail assistant in my time. I left a job that was sales target driven, because I am simply not ruthless enough to pressurise customers into making purchases (especially ones they don't need!). But, I think lack of confidence or belief in what I was selling led to loss of a sale too.
Lack of confidence can also lead to making mistakes. So, the resolution for this is to work on your confidence. Believe in yourself, rather than listening to that inner voice saying you can't do something. But also, if you've not been doing a task for long, or haven't yet learned all you need to about carrying out that task, it's likely that you'll make mistakes. Carrying out a task often requires practice to get it right every time. As you practice, and therefore get better, your confidence will grow.
If you are having a 'bad' day, have a think about why you think it's a bad day and how you can turn that into a positive day. Even if you can't resolve the problem that day, tomorrow is a new day, and after a decent sleep, you can tackle the issue afresh.
A bad day doesn't mean a bad life. We all have an 'off' day, but not an 'off' life! (If we do, it's often down to our lifestyle choices. The good news - you can change those choices, change your mindset and begin to live your own better life!)
There is only one you! Nobody else can be you so always be yourself. You can do whatever you set your mind to, along with determination and some hard work of course.
Don't waste YOU on trying to be someone else. People will admire and love the real you. Trying to be someone else will not make you happy. If anything, it'll leave you exhausted and unfulfilled.
By being your true self, you will feel more fulfilled, happier and you will glow. You will look and feel much healthier. And then everyone will be asking what your secret is! That's when you can say "I'm being ME" 😊
Make a start by taking a good look at yourself. Believe in yourself. Have confidence in yourself. If there's things you want to change, do it slowly. Nothing ever happens overnight, so make changes in little ways. Have achievable goals and reward yourself when you reach them. It doesn't have to be anything big, something small and cheap can be as valuable as something big and expensive when rewarding yourself. Then set another achievable goal. Repeat the processes, continuing to have faith in your abilities. Imagine how good it will feel each time you reach that little goal. Before long, you'll be where you want to be!
Be the best of the real you. Attract the best of life. If something doesn't feel right, it's wrong for you. If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got!
Here's to you being YOU! Always 😊
Almost another year completed! Whatever your plans, stay safe, be happy and always look forward! All the best for 2023! 🎉
My newsfeed is full of so many diet plan adverts! It's not something I believe in. Diet plans that is. Why? Because once you're on a plan, you're basically stuck to a diet plan for the rest of your life! How boring!
Personally, I'd much rather eat what I want, when I want. No counting calories, no having to weigh foods, and no following points or searching for 'free' foods. Does that diet exist?
The answer is....not exactly! Not a traditional diet anyway. However, I'm sure you've heard of hypnotherapy to lose weight?
There are a number of celebrities who have reportedly reduced their size through hypnotherapy.
+ Orlando Bloom used hypnotherapy to treat a chocolate addiction and thus lost weight.
+ Sophie Dahl used to be a plus-size model (and is also Roald Dahl's granddaughter!). She used hypnotherapy over 10 years ago and has maintained a size 8 dress size!
+ Lily Allen (singer): Lily used weight loss hypnosis successfully – she lost so much weight she dropped 3 dress sizes!
+ Geri Halliwell (singer): Former Spice Girl is another celebrity who credits her use of hypnotherapy to lose weight and get fit.
+ Nigella Lawson (domestic goddess) has also used hypnosis to lose weight
I can offer you the chance to join this weight loss club using hypnotherapy. I will be accepting a limited number of people in January who are ready to change their lives for the better. There will be daily support with me, hypnotherapy sessions once a week, a private Facebook group so we can support each other, and much more. The best part - this weight loss programme is only for 4 weeks! (Additional sessions can be added after this if you feel you want or need them), so no being chained to a diet plan! PLUS, this offer is heavily discounted for those who join the programme.
Details will follow in the coming days, so make sure to follow this page so you don't miss out! Click like, share with your friends and family, and check that you are following my page! See you soon! 😘
What is your fresh start for 2023? Perhaps going to the gym more (or going!), maybe lose a few lbs, or perhaps stop smoking?
Changing your mindset isn't always easy. Not when that little voice in your head tells you that you can't do something! Do you want help to hush that little voice?
Hypnotherapy can help you focus on what you CAN achieve, and by turning the volume down on that naughty little voice, you CAN achieve that fresh new mindset.
Send me a message for more information - a free consultation could lead you to the best version of you!
Who is setting New Year's resolutions? Do you stick to them? If you do set them but can't stick to them, why not?
Maybe they aren't realistic 🤔
Perhaps they are boring 😴
I don't do resolutions, but I do set goals. If I don't reach them, I don't see it as failing, but as a learning journey. Try setting goals, and reward yourself when you step closer to the goal. Sometimes the end result is better than the original chosen goal! 😉
It'll soon be another new year. What are your plans and goals for 2023? Let me know below. I love hearing what everyone is up to!
I will be completing an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy diploma, topping up on my Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner diploma. It means I can offer even more to help you overcome those unwanted feelings and emotions, as well as helping with menopause, addictions, and so much more. As with any profession, clinical hypnotherapists also need to keep their skills and knowledge up to date! And I'm looking forward to adding or enhancing these skills so I can help you to help yourself.
I also have a wonderful holiday planned for later in the year, as well as going to a show almost as soon as we return home! Are you planning any nice holidays in 2023? Let me know in the comments 😊
I hope you are all having a lovely day, children happy with their gifts, everyone watching cheesy Christmas films, eaten too much and generally having a chance to relax now. To those who are working, we thank you for your service, and as always, hope we will never need to use you! Some special Christmas love being sent to those no longer here, but are always in our hearts. Merry Christmas everyone!
A little Christmas wish for you all, wherever you are and whoever you're with. Some may be far from their loved ones, some may be working, others may be missing someone very special. I'm feeling fortunate to have some of my little family around me, especially as I feared Christmas would need to be postponed thanks to covid getting some of us last week. Luckily, we are now negative but remain indoors, as we are still a little under the weather. But I am thankful to have them here with me. I know others who are not as fortunate.
I'm sure there are parents and carers out there who are struggling to get their hyper children to bed. Hang in there! They will fall asleep! But if they don't, get some extra cuddles with them. They won't always be so small and excited, and there will come a day when you wish they were!
Christmas is a magical time for those innocent little minds, so fill them with love, continue festive traditions or start new ones, and don't let yourself get too stressed out. Christmas will always be perfect to the children, even if the turkey burns. It'll still be magical when the crackers don't crack. They don't want to remember it as a time of grumpy adults stressing out, so let things be. Just soak up the atmosphere, look at it through the eyes of a child, and make memories for them, and yourself, that you look back on full of love.
Whatever you're doing tomorrow, have a good one. I hope it truly is a lovely day, full of love for you all ❤️
In case nobody has told you lately....you are AWESOME! Keep on going you gorgeous human being ❤️
Who feels like the Grinch? I think it's fair to say that we all do at some point. I know I do sometimes! The important thing is to not stay there. Being grumpy can be caused by a lot of things, and at this time of the year, it's often caused by the stress of getting ready for Christmas. (And of course, the seasonal germs!).
So how do we get rid of the festive stress? Ban Christmas? Nooooo! One of the simplest things to do is break everything down into manageable chunks. Plan ahead wherever you can. Do little bits at a time. Don't spend an entire evening wrapping gifts - do a few each day. Don't rush out and get all the food shopping in one go. Write a list of what you actually need, buy things you can freeze to reduce the preparation times at home.
Think about gifts that aren't so expensive but are perfect for the recipient. If you are crafty, make some gifts.
Set some time aside for YOU each day to do whatever it is that relaxes you. Maybe a good book, or a long hot bath. Or perhaps a little pamper session. Listen to some music that is calming - I love listening to Enya while I'm doing things, as it helps me focus on the task, but allows me to drift off in my mind and relax. Spend time with your favourite people and have a good laugh.
Think of positive ways to lift the cloud of gloom, and then do them. We're all in this together, even if we do sometimes feel alone.
What other things help us to de-stress? Perhaps have a session of hypnotherapy to release all that stress, banish those negative emotions and feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. It'll help you think clearer, feel more positive and stronger, able to face the days ahead with clarity.
Pop a comment below of your favourite things to do.
I'm practicing self-care right now! I'm currently in bed, even though it's afternoon. I actually have covid 😭 and feel like my battery is on 10% but I know it's probably really on about 80%, thanks to the computer that is my body's nervous system.
The body really is amazing. Even though I suffer from this awful virus, my body can still move, breathe, see, think, and more, without me actually doing anything! I don't need to tell it to do anything, it just does it.
I'm also topping it up with plenty of fluids, rest and napping, as well as things like paracetamol and cold and flu remedies. I'm not very active though, as I'm feeling fairly dizzy, but my brain is whirling in the covid fog with festive ideas and plans. We shall see if I'm well enough to actually do any of them on the big day!
So, wherever you are and whatever you are doing, make sure you take time to rest! Like cars or mobile phones, we all need time to recharge our batteries. Your body, and your mind, will thank you for it in the long run. None of us are invincible, none of us can do everything, and we need to learn to accept that. Sometimes saying no (nicely but firmly), is the best form of self-care that we can take. Never feel guilty for saying no. Never feel guilty for looking after you. There is only one of you and YOU are important! 🫂
Let's support each other 😊 As a small or independent business, pop a link in the comments below so others can see what you do. Even if you live far away from me, promote your business below. You never know who could be your next new customer! Or, if you don't have your own business, but have a friend who does, pop their link in the comments. I'm always on the lookout for new gift ideas, and not mass produced ones! 😊
Now it's starting to feel wintry! We're all feeling the cold, panicking about Christmas, worrying about the cost of everything, and I've got another to-do-list! This one is much more manageable though, and one we should all have. None of it will cost a penny, but will probably make us feel better in ourselves. As long as we aren't the Grinch!

"Researchers found that seeing or hearing birds was related to more positive feelings of mental well-being in that moment. This was true even after the researchers considered whether participants could see trees, water or plants."
"The results show a significant impact of birds on mental wellbeing regardless of age, gender, and ethnicity, and whether or not participants had diagnosed mental health conditions."
