Have you ever picked up an unusual pebble and wondered where it was from and how old?

Wonder no more! On Saturday 14th September we will be hosting a pebble spotting morning at Blue Dial Farm Allonby 10-12-no need to book just pop along .Either bring some pebbles with you or drop in for guidance and tips from our experienced expert geologists before you start your hunt!

A great activity for all the family of any ability and age .We will be using the event hall so there will be a safe dry location and also loos!!

No need to book -just turn up ,plenty of free parking in the farm courtyard .

The Aquarium and mini golf will still be open as usual.

The BIG opening for our NEW play-park is looking to be around 12 weeks and we cant wait 🥳🥳

This guy, unknown to us, turned up last Saturday about 4.30 pm in his blue Skoda Roomster and after a bit of driving about parked up opposite our Cafe patio. He then got some goods out of the back of his car and rather awkwardly climbed over the railings to come into our Cafe. Why did he take this route? We think he did this to avoid the cctv cameras covering our main entrance area, but we have cameras almost everywhere so we still saw what he was doing. He then made his way through our Cafe and Gift Shop to reception, he then engaged staff from a point away from our cash tills to an area which is not covered by CCTV. He gave them a box of light bulbs saying 'the boss asked me to drop these in, they are £35.00 cash' We do not normally pay cash for anything unless by prior arrangement, so staff hesitated. He then pressurised them by saying 'Look, I've come a long way to drop these off as a special favour! ' So he was paid and immediately left the premises as he had arrived, out through the Cafe and over the railings to his car which then left towards town
I'm the boss of the aquarium writing this sad story, I never ordered these light bulbs, they are a type we don't use. He may have acquired the goods at a knock down price and now found a good but illegal cheeky way of turning a cash profit. This is a fairly minor scam in the scheme of things but if you own a business locally don't fall for it. If you know this guy, and in the very remote possibility he is innocent somehow, tell him to call back, give us our cash back and he can take his unwanted light bulbs away.

We are proud to welcome our brand new Archer fish to our aquarium, these fish are know for shooting water like a projectile to knock bug off of leaves in the mangroves.

We'd like to thank the team at Maidenhead Aquatics at Carlisle Dobbies for supplying the fish and plants for this tank.

Our first tomatoes have arrived on our aquaponics.
We feed the fish, they produce waste, which can be toxic to the fish, bacteria then break this waste down into nitrates which is food for the plants.
You can also harvest the fish to eat alongside the vegetables.

We have a diverse selection of educational films on show in our cinema along side our brand new turtle display and our latest addition is a tank of sea gooseberrys. These were collected from the local rock pools, they are an amazing animal, the largest animal to use cilia for locomotion, these scatter sunlight and produce an amazing rainbow effect.

Earth Day is coming up and there will be a some events taking place in our local libraries. Ursula Troche, who runs Pick Up The Pieces, PUTPie, where she recovers plastic from the beaches and creates art, will be displaying her creations and guiding you though how to create a bird feeder.
