Loneliness is a major social problem across all age groups. For older people it is often compounded by bereavement and other losses, and difficulties getting out and about because of disability, ill health, or poor public transport.

Our network of local Age UKs support hundreds of thousands of older people to keep at bay and enable them to play a role in their community. But we need the Government to help by taking the lead.

Some of us had an amazing day out at Beamish. We had tea and cake, ice cream, chips from the famous chippy, went on the rides, down the pits, saw how they make sweets, a lesson in the school and many rides on the buses and trams.

Without you all we couldn't do what we do....

We would like to say a HUGE Thank You to
Morpeth First School 🙌🏻

The support we continue to get from the school is beyond amazing. A few weeks ago we asked if they would help us with a little bag drive and it turned out to be not so little 😀

The children below got involved in making posters to put up around their school, handing out bags and even rang the shop to arrange the collection date 🤩

I went along this morning to meet all the little super stars and when we counted the bags they managed to collect 95 bags 👏🏻

What makes this so special is the younger generation are learning all about charity shops and the good they do. Not just the help they do for people but also the planet 🌍

These bags will now be sorted and put on to the shop floor to raise those vital funds, to support the older people who need it most.

So please help us thank all the teachers, all of the children and all of the parents involved. 😀

We’ve got a new Chair Yoga class starting soon here at The Round House!

This is a great way to increase flexibility as well as your muscle strength, posture and your wellbeing. The class will start on Wednesday 27 March from 12:00pm - 12:45pm, and is £3.00 per session.
