We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who ring the bells in Morpeth Clock Tower. If you are interested in learning the ropes we would love to hear from you.
We are the current custodians of a 300-year-old tradition of bellringing in the English full-circle style in Morpeth Clock Tower. We meet every Wednesday 19:30 - 21:00 to practice and ring to celebrate civic events. Through the ringing of the Clock Tower bells, we aim to promote the culture and heritage of Morpeth. We train people of all ages (9+) and from all walks of life to ring the bells in this ancient tower. Details are available from the Tower Captain, Rev. Simon White.
We're open on Saturday 14th September 10 am until 4 pm. Please come and see us for a tour of the Clock Tower and to find out about our living heritage.

Fun Fact: On this day 130 years ago 1893 The new ring of 8 bells at Rothbury, Northumberland was opened after dedication with a peal of Double Norwich Court Bob Major. Nothing surprising in this, except the band, to ensure success, had rung two practice peals on the previous two days! Taken from "On this Day" by William Butler. 😊
We got the festivities going for the 55th Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering. Now enjoying post ringing teas and cakes in Micahs tearooms
