The most recent Pregnant Then Screwed research shows that 75% of mothers currently using childcare say it makes no financial sense for them to work after the cost.
Being able to reduce these costs is integral to women's participation in the labour market. The government help announced in the budget yesterday is a big step forward, providing support for the industry itself is offered, otherwise there will not be any facilities to claim the free 30 hours from!

Do you have employees that work part of the year? Did you know that since the Supreme Court ruling last year, those workers are entitled to a full year holiday allowance (5.6 weeks)
But the Supreme Court Judgment provides part-year workers with an advantage over their full-time colleagues. They get a full year’s holidays for a part-year’s work. Part-year workers also gain an advantage over part-time colleagues (i.e. staff who work all year).
For this reason the government has launched a consultation on how employers calculate holiday entitlement for part year workers. Employers have until 8 March 2023 to respond to the consultation and help inform the approach to be taken by the government when putting forward new legislation to parliament.

Results are in.....was the 4 day week pilot a success?
An overview:
⭐ The scheme, organised by 4 Day Week Global, took place between June and December 2022, and involved organisations across the UK, including some non-profit organisations, as well as private firms in recruitment, software, and manufacturing.
⭐ A report assessing its impact has found it had "extensive benefits" particularly for employees' well-being.
⭐ Those results reflect the overall findings of the report: that staff were much less inclined to call in sick, and more inclined to stay with their employer, reducing recruitment costs and making it more worthwhile training staff.
⭐ Almost all, 56 of the 61 employers, were keen to keep the new work pattern.
⭐ But recent CIPD research suggests that 'no one size fits all' found just one in three companies expect it to be the reality for most UK workers in the next ten years.

A huge selling point for candidates now is 'flexible working' but if you are able to offer this does your advert make that abundantly clear?
Remember people interpret information differently, sometimes you need to SPELL IT OUT.
Look at this sentence:
'FLEXIBLE WORKING -Team meet ups a few times a week (including Monday breakfast & Friday beers)'.
Although this ad is stating flexible working someone could perceive that as having to be in the office 3 or 4 times a week which all of a sudden doesn’t seem that flexible.
Be completely transparent and clear in your advert to attract more candidates and really put yourself in the shoes of the reader.
