We had a wonderful social and new members joining our society. Our aim is to welcome everyone in the University and share our values and compassion throughout the community. Thanks to Our Law School Associate Professor Deborah Rock for attending our social yesterday with some of her students as well. We have some of our Sanctuary Scholars attended yesterday as well. People who are seeking refuge are human beings and have every right to love themselves and think about the elements which give them healing and adopt them in their life. It can be adopted in anyone’s life. Healing is universal and it’s for all of us regardless of anyone’s race, ethnicity, colour etc.

Happy World Access to Higher Education Day!

To mark the occasion we are celebrating the many universities that offer Sanctuary Scholarships.

Over 70 universities nationwide offer scholarships, bursaries and fee waivers for people who have sought sanctuary in the UK. If you have sought sanctuary or know those who have, and think these scholarships would be of interest head to STAR - Student Action for Refugees website for more information.

Now, down to business... We have our first social of 2021 approaching. Details can be found on the attached poster, but it is on the 21st October 2021 at 5pm, in room 405 of the Northumberland Building here at Northumbria.

Our day so far at NU Freshers Society Fayre and our stall! We've got sweeties, a pamphlet & posters created by me and of course MD and myself. Come & say Hi if you're studying at Northumbria and if you know any first year law students send them along to collect their free first year book. Thanks for all of the support so far!!

I thought I had best introduce myself as the new VP (Vice President) of this wonderful society.
I'm Rachel, 30 years young, married with two kids (my Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Betty & Diesel in the second and third pictures) and a MASSIVE fan of Disney, particularly Mickey and Minnie Mouse! The first picture is the first day MD and I met, at a SU held event (and yes, we won the quiz 😅)
Anyway, enough about me. I want to know more about you guys! Let's get the conversation going, and let MD and I know what it is you'd like to see most from the society this year!
