Massage can ease a stiff or sore neck, speeding nature’s own cure for muscle strains and sprains. In addition, massage restores flexibility to the neck, extending its range of motion. Neck massage should be soothing rather than deep and should extend to the back & shoulders which form a connected system with the neck.

Neck massage works best when supplemented with self-help measures such as improved posture (especially when using a phone and at a work-station), regular neck exercises, a firm mattress and greater mobility.

We’re now using pure organic coconut oil for our oil-based massages. Coconut oil is favoured by both customers and therapists (if less so by our washing machine!).

Coconut oil has excellent glide for massage and is well-tolerated even by those with a nut allergy. It’s natural, aromatic, nutritious and a highly effective moisturiser – especially beneficial for the many customers whose skin tends to dryness.

However, we do also keep a supply of baby oil for use when requested.
