A happy brain = a happy life. 🧠 😃 ❤️
How we feel boils down to the chemicals in our brains. And the choices we make and how we decide to spend our time plays a role in the release of those “happy chemicals.”
When we (adults and children) engage in activities like exercise, mindfulness, self-care, gratitude and laughter with friends, we release feel-good chemicals in our brains, as you can see in my handy chart here.
I frequently share these ideas and strategies with the children and parents I counsel because 🌟 the younger children are when they are exposed to these healthy habits🌟, the more likely they are to incorporate them into their lives as they grow.
And as parents, practicing self-care and coping skills are not just important because our children will model after us. They are important for our own health and happiness too! Research proves that exercise, mindfulness, gratitude, laughter and self-care lead to increased health and happiness.
Observing this transformation in the children I counsel is what motivated me to write a picture book series, called The Super Skills series to share these important skills with as many little readers as I can in a kid-friendly and fun way!

⭐️ When breathing techniques are used regularly, they help to reduce worries, anxiety and promote a positive mindset. Kids learn best when they are engaged and having fun, which is why I try to make my graphics entertaining (as well as educational) for kiddos! 😀

• Repeat these phrases while looking into a mirror.
• Close your eyes and imagine your affirmations.
• Draw/paint your affirmations.

Anyone put the kids to sleep and then immediately start questioning? Did I do enough today? Did I play enough? Did I overreact? Did I lose my cool too much? Am I a bad mom? It happens to the best of us. While telling our children these positive affirmations seems easy, it can be so hard sometimes to tell ourselves.
Well, here is your reminder: It’s okay to do things differently. It doesn’t make you wrong. It’s okay to make mistakes. No one is perfect. Be confident in yourself. You are beautiful just the way you are! Remember to tell yourself these things often. You are enough and so worth it!

It’s World Book Day next week on Thursday 3rd March and it will soon be time for every child around the country to dress up as their favourite book character! Some parents might head out to the shop and buy a costume off the shelf. That’s fine! Some might not want to or be able to do that and that is also fine! Schools do not necessarily want you to go out and buy something. Home made outfits are just as wonderful , here at Wyntercon we know that with little imagination, so many characters can be created .

Week 3 - Smart 🧠 Wise ❤️
Stressful emotions get in the way of accomplishing our goals and performing at our best. Although we can’t get rid of daily stressful events, we can learn to respond to them with more intelligence. When we are more in sync, our thinking is clearer and our inner weather improves.
This week we have leant two simple tools to help get in sync: Heart-Focused Breathing and Quick Coherence. These techniques can be used anytime, anyplace and no one will know you are using them.
Week 2 - Smart Brain Wise heart
We were learning about emotions and how they change like the weather. They also teach us a lot about ourselves. Sometimes our emotions help us and other times they can get in the way.
